Does anybody run spacers on the rear to bring the tires out to match the front? And if so, which ones/sizes do ya have?? Pics would be nice too.

Maybe i'm just picky but the way it looks drive's me nuts!

I have 15" rims from a 2WD '66 Travelall that will bolt onto the back but not the front (center hole needs slight opening) and they are centered offset, so the wheels will be pushed out almost 2".

 

These are good spacer/adapters (just wish they were the right bolt pattern. I could put 5 on 5.0" rims on 5 on 4 3/4" with them)

Yep, SpiderTrax 1-1/4" hub-centric / wheel-centric spacers. Same width at the flares. Cures the factory wide butt look.

I have the same as Don on mine. They are high quality and hub-centric. If you go to the Spidertrax web site, you can find the "blemish" spacers for about $20 less and they are not structurally compromised.

The back tires tucked in more then the front and I did not like the look, so I bought some Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers.

Are the wheel studs too short in this pic or is this just an illusion? Looks like not much thread engagement on the lug nuts. :dunno:

I have always been told that thread contact should be equal to diameter of stud, ergo 1/2" stud, 1/2" depth, rule of thumb. Maybe they are deep lugs? :dunno:

I fixed mine with some ford axles and wider wheels/tires in the back. oh wait, that's probably not very pertinent to the conversation at hand. :rotf:

Is it just me or does anybody else see a suzuki samurai on Pete's profile pic?? Sure looks like one to me.

 

Looks good Pete but the problem with that is the "ford" part you mentioned. Just don't think I could live with myself if I went that route! :cheers:

I also thought they were short when i put the spacers on, there is 3/4 inch of thread into the lug nuts. I also put the wheels on without the spacer using the same lug nuts and it looks the same.

I need a pair of those so I can put the other pair of studded snows on my '82 Spirit (they are on XJ rims, so the offset makes them hit the tie rods)

Anyone have any issues running these? Like any premature wearing?

I have 50,000 miles on the set on my LJ. No premature tire wire even when I occasionally miss doing a tire rotation by double the interval.

155,000-ish miles on the LJ. Wheel spacers have the same effect as putting on rims with low backspacing. Regardless, the wheel bearings will be fine as long as they are not run at one end of the extreme. What really kills bearings is lots of off road driving and constantly dunking them into mud.

I've had 2" spider trax on my MJ, but not to even the wheel line, just for rubbing and it looks cooler (even more important!!)

 

I argued the same point back and forth "on another forum".   I didn't see the difference in stress on the bearings if the center of the wheel is in the same spot if I reduced the backspacing by 2".  I had originally installed them on my XJ, but I bought some Crager wheels for it and gave the XJ to my son.  I kept the stock wheels and the spacers.

 

100K on the XJ after spacers, they've been on my MJ for 3 yrs.

 

I also thought the lugs were too short, so I replaced all 20 with 1/2" longer studs.
