HOrnbrod
Apples to oranges. Besides the stocker was using oil. Firefox 2.0 doesn't.
terrawombat
I'm still using Firefox 2.0. No problems. Why upgrade. If it ain't broke, why fix it? One of my old shop computers is a 1100MHz AMD Athlon w/512Mb of RAM. The thing would come to a crawl when I tried to open any webpage that had any bit of Flash code on it. I was using Firefox 2.0 on that. Went ahead and threw on Firefox 4.0 and it's like night and day. The comp is still slow, but it's actually useable now and no longer a giant paperweight. It may not have really been broken before, but when there are better options available, why not?
HOrnbrod
I did try Firefox 3, and it was a downgrade. Slowed everything up; 2.0 performed much better than version 3 except on some utube videos that would not run on 2.0. I didn't care. Maybe I'll give 4 a try............ Later............. Much later. kro10000
I used to be a die hard Firefox user, but I've since been converted, to google chrome. Very fast and appearance can be (mine is) very minimalist, I hate tons of toolbars forcing me to scroll more through webpages than I should. Plus with windows 7 it looks pretty sleek. :D Like this:
Rymanrph
Firefox used to be all I used, but I'm on Chrome now too. I upgraded to 4.0 on my Mac at work, but I have OS 10.4 (4.0 requires at least 10.5) and so it didn't work. I had to reinstall an older version. terrawombat
I had begun transitioning to Chrome because Firefox 3 was getting on my nerves at times. I've got Chrome on my Netbook and an older laptop I use for tuning DSMs. However, Firefox 4 has halted that transition.
jimoshel
When I went to bed last nite, Fire Fox and any trace or hint of Fire Fox was completely deleted from my puter. When i turned the puter on this morn not only was Fire Fox back but so was my task bar as well as 8 toolbars, some of them for programs I have never even heard of before. My bookmarks were also back. Needless to say I am deleting Fire Fox again and maybe it will stay gone this time. :hateputers:

The only time I've ever had random toolbars pop up in my browser was when I had some adaware program lurking in the shadows.

Geonovast
Jim, I think you're blaming Firefox for malware issues. If you want firefox gone, it will happily leave.
CS-17
My dad switched his computer to it last night......and now I am annoyed: I don't know about you guys, but I like to use tabs for other pages and such. In the old Firefox, I could right-click on a link, go two selections down, click on it: walla! Tab. Now that's ONE selection down, and the one to open the link in a new window is two......very annoying.....

Geonovast
I've always opened a new tab, then clicked on the bookmark. I have a new tab button right next to my home button.
Vintage
Upgraded earlier today and am very pleased. Would definitely recommend. It's funny, though. The thing that I'm having the most trouble with is getting used to the swapped "new tab" and "new window" buttons. I'm still opening new windows.

HOrnbrod
Well, I upgraded from 2.0 to 4.0 tonight. Had to go through 3.1 first. It's freaking great! Sites that used to lock up and take forever with scripts (Sears, Home Depot, etc.) are instantly ready now for searching. I use some German sites for the motorrads; Google translator was available for 4.0 and works much faster now. No problems with the bookmarks either. Weird though; it takes a little longer to load CC club after logging in due to the Smilies. But I'm happy with it.
Sir_Brando
I've been cursing firefox for ages now. I've been getting so frustrated with it. As soon as I seen there was an update to 4 available a few days ago I think I hit the record for how fast you can click 'install' I must say, HUGE improvement. both cosmetically and functionally. No problems here. Sounds like someones been surfin around too many porn sites and clickin the wrong buttons without protection. :D Definitely recommend switching over if you haven't already. jimoshel
Cleaned the puter with every tool I had at my disposal and down loaded FF again. I was a little annoyed at having to find and reload all my favorites, Craigs List, Comanche Club. Las Vegas Art sites etc, etc. after getting it set up and running it does seem to be a improvement. Loads much faster.

Now, do yourself a favor and click on the 'Bookmarks' drop down button in the upper right hand corner, go to 'Show all bookmarks' then 'Import and Backup' and create a backup copy and export and HTML file. Now you've got two files that contain your current bookmarks.
streetjeep2.5
I just finished upgrading 30-40 minutes ago. Wiped out all my bookmarks and most used menus. Still trying to get my most used sites back. Other wise seems like it may be OK. Upgraded to 4.0 before seeing this, and had no problems at all with bookmarks, etc. 'Course, I have a real computer, a MAC! :brows:
terrawombat
Ever since I learned of this middle mouse button click, I've been using it to its fullest advantage. My middle mouse button will be worn out in no time.
knever3
Ok, as a IE user I have tried Firefox and to me it's limitations are greater than the reward. I LOVE tabbed browsing which Firefox has also but I've stayed with the usual. I got crazy and installed Chrome for one day, the minute I found out that Google Toolbar and the associated Google Bookmarks wasn't compatable I dropped it. Come on, lets get our :grrrr: together and make sure your own add ons work with your software. When it comes to computers people do get set in their ways no matter how much you try to make their life easier, case in point my parents. I have no preference so I'll stick with IE until I find something that sways me again to change. It's been fun reading through all the posts though!!
