7:00am I got the notice to head in for snow removal, 7:19am I got a message saying "Do NOT attempt to get here" now here is the kicker . . . I didn't get the second message til 8:09am !

So I fired up the Jeep Comanche and started clearing it off, thawed and warmed up I head out of the lot which is 1-3ft deep !

Make it 6miles slipping n sliding before I notice I had the second message.

But I went another 2 miles to get to an intersection, read message reply to it then travel 8miles back slightly aggravated to have shoveled out and drove 16 miles round trip for nothing . . . Due to cellular delay !

Another mile or 2 and I would have been on open hi way where my only challenge would of been not getting blown off the road vs fighting wind and snow . . . Roads n lots littered with stuck cars n trucks . . . Gotta love the capability of a 2WD short bed Jeep :-) !

:-) I'm driving the M275er next winter ;-) !

How bad is it around you ?

I drove back to MI from GA last night. the last 4 hours being particularly interesting. first rain, then freezing rain, then hail, then snow. blizzard winds the entire way. Thankfully running out of windshield washer fluid coincided with an abrupt drop in temperature and the crap falling from the sky stopped sticking to my windshield. :dunno: snow tires ftw! :D

Then I drove about town digging friends and family out. Now I wake up and get to do that all over again. free exercise. :D

couldn't help but notice that it's still snowing. :fs2:

Used the pig to get to work, as it's the only vehicle with a working 4wd I have right now (Booger is gone, Sparkles is 2wd and Purple still needs the front shaft put in. Hit a few snags on that one). Sliding all over the place, trouble going up the hill while dodging and running over downed trees. I actually had more traction running over the trees than on the ice. So I get to work and there's no power.

Then the boss pulled in and slid the whole way down to the low end of the driveway. Always fun to get to pull the boss out of the driveway....

Tired of it. Heading to Georgia tomorrow.

someone left a lawn gnome on your trailer, dave...

:rotf:

This makes me wanna move south. I'm glad this is my day off, because the owner of the shops wants them opened:

* TRAVEL... LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS CONTINUE TO REPORT THAT MANY ROADWAYS REMAIN IMPASSABLE DUE TO BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. ROAD CREWS ARE WORKING HARD TO CLEAR ROADWAYS... BUT THE STRONG WINDS ARE RESULTING IN SNOW BLOWING BACK ONTO FRESHLY CLEANED ROADS. LOCAL OFFICIALS CONTINUE TO PLEAD WITH PEOPLE TO STAY HOME AND NOT TO TRAVEL... AS DOING SO WILL PUT YOUR LIFE AT RISK.

I took this picture out my front window just now. It's a very chilly 36F.

there is something wrong with your tree...and I don't think it can be geographical, since your neighbor's trees look normal...aside from how those ones aren't willing to step outside the box.

Snow flies and everybody turns to idiots. Despite the Blizzard warnings, I still had to take my 2wd Ranger to work yesterday at 7:30. I get a call from the boss at 10:30 and am told to go home. Once home I don't know what to do with myself, so I decided to return 4 bags of Black Diamond to tractor supply just down the road, in my TJ. By this time there is a good 4-6" on the road. Pull 2 mini vans and 1 Toyota car out on my way to TSC. Since I was out, I decided why not find a filter/screen so I can reuse the blast media. Start my trek to Harbor Freight. Spot a black Lexus buried in a shopping complex drive, UPS truck driver helping a couple and a daughter behind the wheel shovel out. I asked the lady if they would like to be pulled out of the snow pile. With a look of pure disgust and evil, she looked at me and blatantly stated, "Look at it. Its a Lexus. I leave that to the professionals." I chuckled and told her good luck getting her fancy Toyota out, and drove away to help another car high centered in the snow plows pile of doom.

By last night on a trip to Walmart the roads where drifting so deep my TJ on 35's was dragging axle. Today I had no work and drove my wife to work. The sun is out, but it is blustery. On the way home I stopped to help a Land Cruiser stuck in another shopping complex driveway. Me and a few others pushed it to freedom. Then I spent a few hours winching/digging out my work truck and my wifes Camry in the apartment parking lot.

I love snow. This really makes me want to move back to the Colorado high country :brows:

I love it. We didn't get much with the past weekly snow storm - just a lot of ice/rain, but it certainly made for an entertaining ride to work this morning. Watching the yuppie soccer Mom's in their FWD minivans slip and slide everywhere was a blast. I saw four accidents on my way to work this morning (8 mile drive) ranging from people locking their brakes and running off the road to a guy trying to beat out traffic from a stop sign, doing a complete 180 and getting whacked by the very traffic he tried to beat.

Lots of downed power lines and branches this morning, but nothing spectacular. I wish we would have gotten the snow instead of the ice - it looks way cooler.

That shot was taken right before I rescued a Chevy 2500 that had it's diesel gelled, and a suburban with transmission issues off the road. The guy in the chevy didn't think the MJ could do it... :rotf:

Went down to the shop at about 6am (the wind had slowed enough that I could see it) to wake up Old Gordie. Opened up the door so he could see what his morning would entale. No complaints. He fired right up and went about business. T'was a bit of a struggle at times as it was VERY!! deep in places (as much as 5ft+). He kept me nice and warm and got done with his work by about noon. A little cleanup at the end of the day because of more wind but all is good.

The pics tell the story. Check em out.
