Are there any other truck's roll bars that will fit in the MJ? I have read that the Dodge Dakota's will fit, is it some specific years?

Just another stupid question that is off topic. Do factory (or other wise) roll bars provide any real "protection". Or are they just for looks?

Ask this because I do NOT take my truck off road or on any trails, etc. I don't like rolling cars or trucks.

The accessory guide actually calls them "Sport Bars" not Roll Bars.

Just picked up a used toyota tocoma roll bar yesterday. It will need to be fit to the wheel wells and is about 2 inches narrow than a stock bar. I spent a yr looking for a factory bar in n Fl with no luck. It looks good sitting in the bed now and wil install this week end. Probably will need to drop gas tank and who knows what else. The height is even with the roof. When I start my build I'll post pics. Just been aquiring all the parts for a year. Still need my bucket seats which have turned in to a nightmare. Nice to have a member in Fl

I believe the original factory bars added SOME protection. They actually have plates under the bed that attach the rollbar to the unibody.

i have a roll bar out of a first gen dodge dakota.  they are about 3" too wide and the wheel well supports are at the wrong angle so the mounts need to be cut and welded at a bigger angle.

The factory bar has brackets and such that bolt everything up rather than it just bolting to the bed. So I'd wager they add some protection, more than if if it wasn't there or was only attached to the bed. My truck is in another town or I'd snap some pics from underneath.

I picked up a '89 S10 about a year ago.Had the factory roll bar on it. Not sure how much it would have helped in a roll over. It was fastened to the bed with 4 1"X3/8" sheet metal screws. One on each corner.

PM an email address and I can send a PDF of the accessories guide, I also have the '88 Comanche brochure if you're interested.

This goes for anyone that wants them.
