Rear Bumper

Recommended Posts

The factory never had an integrated receiver offered with its bumper. Only thing it had was the ball that bolted to it,very light duty.

Then there was the frame mounts that put the receiver below the bumper, these work much better.

Integrated receiver bumper that looks stock, Nada, that I know of. IMO the best setup to get what you want is a FEY bumper with an aftermarket frame mount receiver hitch.

For about the cost of a Fey bumper and a frame mount you could run this.

I bought one like this for my 87.

Oh, I knew that. I guess I should have phrased my question a little differently. I saw an aftermarket bumper somewhere with an integrated receiver that looked as if it could have possibly been designed by AMC. It was clean, simple, and lined up with the body nicely.

The issue that I have always had with XJ's and MJ's is that aftermarket bumpers always seem to look awkward and out of place. CJ/YJ/TJ, JK bumpers, for the most part, look natural.

I can't remember where I saw it.

I have a factory bumper with an integrated receiver hitch. Or is it not considered "integrated"? The bumper and receiver is all one piece. Sure is a knuckle dragger though. Looking for a new bumper myself.

That kind of looks like one of those bolt on receiver set-ups like HF sells.

I like the bumper too, but what have you done for the lights? I think in NC we have to have a light on the plate.

I've been thinking about this for a while, I thought about putting these on a dummy plate/mount

Actually I think I'm going to use the LED ones, but anyway I'm going to make a bracket to mount in the receiver mount.

Center, covering the hole wired into trailer plug. (for my Jcr bumper)

I got some bolt lights like the last link you posted.

When mounted in the bolt locations, they were BARELY adequate,

I wanted to mount them to the side of the plate, but it didn't even come close to illuminating it.

I've had the second style too,

decent light, but it extends way beyond the plate (not great for something that see's trails).

yeah,i've still got to put a light on my bumper as well.i've only had mine on for a month and i don't drive at night very often so i haven't seen if i'll get stopped for it yet.i was thinking of the little universal round bulbs that snap into a whole and use the bumper as a ground.i just ate drilling a whole in my bumper but it's better than a ticket.
