Sure, I can post some interior pictures. I don't have any pictures right now so it won't be until the weekend. I must warn you though. It is nothing fancy. It is all stock all the way down to the wonderful factory AMC AM/FM radio.

I still want to get rid of that bench seat someday. It always seemed broken down even when it was new. :USAflag:

Here is a picture of the interior of my Chief. It is really in better shape than the picture indicates. The black really shows every leaf and piece of dirt that lands on it. Within a week after we bought it new, we purchased some cheap rubber floor mats. I took them out for the picture. I hope they saved the floorboards. But honestly, I am too chicken to look. While you can't really tell from the photos, the carpet is in pretty good shape.

I still want to get rid of that bench seat someday. You can see a tear in the side of the seat and my failed attempt to hide it with electrical tape.

So do you ever take it to car shows?

Brandon

No, I don't show it. While she did clean up pretty well, she is not show quality.

If all of us got together somewhere to show off our comanches, then it would be show quality but so would most of the others in their own way.

Remember it still lived it's life in indiana. The undercarrage is in pretty good shape compared to other Indiana trucks but that is only because it wasnt on the road in the winter for the last 15 years. The frame is solid and in good shape but it is not restored. The engine bay looks like any other factory 4.0 with 85,000 miles. It will not clean up.

I have thought about sanding and painting the frame rails but I am sure I would bust bolts off to remove transfer case crossmembers, control arms, etc. Then I would be a little upset. It may not look good underneath but it is all original. It can only be original once. Right? But next winter I will probably paint the frame rails anyway. I will be seeking advice on how to remove a busted bolt or loosened nutsert. :shake:

You are right. I have not done a very good job of keeping this post current. I have the interior out again and have a straight factory bumper coming back from the body shop after getting repainted. I will post more of those improvements. Until then, here is a link to the comanche of the month post. One the last page is an updated interior pic.

I wanted to update my build with a few new things. I am in need of advice and hopefully others can learn from my mistakes. I will start with my NOS tail lights. I finally got the second one in the pair a couple of months ago. Ignore the dust.

I also wanted to replace my headliner. But thought you suckers were spending way too much time restoring your old POS foam so I thought I would smart and buy new. Big mistake. Keep restoring the old stuff because the new do not fit very well. I creased mine and now it has wrinkles in the front corners above the a pillars. So I am not using it. Hopefully, all of you can learn from my ignorance. You can see in the pics why I need to replace my old one. My dad tried to fix it with glue and newspaper. The new one looked nice though.

Here is the back of the new one. It was a foam product over some extreemly stiff fiberboard.

It was well made but it didnt fit. I glued my old velcro strips to the new one. It was going to be nice. Too bad.

But here is the best part. I didnt like the thought of having an aftermarket bumper (a Fey). I live in northern Indiana and finding rust free bumpers is almost impossible. I ran across one awhile back. After I bought it, I found another one. Now I have two and two sets of bumper brackets. Everything was very straight. I sent them off to the body shop for painting. I also had a receiver hitch that needed painting too. I was a little shocked when I got them back. While they looked good, they were not flat black. The body shop said they were the same paint as the rest of my truck but it has been awhile and he forgot. He said this was eggshell.

Here is one of them against the Fey. You can see that the Fey is definately flat and the factory one has much more gloss.

I will also solve the age old question about which bumper is heavier. In this unscientific experiment, the Fey weighed 37 lbs. The factory bumper (without the rubber trim) weighed 28 lbs. Others on the forum mentioned the factory bumper was heavier but I didnt think that was right. The fey is definately heavier.

I am now indecisive about what to do. Would you mount one of the glossy bumpers or take them back and have them painted flat? I like the gloss but I want it to be factory too. The sheet metal is not the highest quality so all the flaws in the stamping are easier to see. Any thoughts?
