Drahcir495
I am one of the lucky ones when it comes to having a good job that I love. But in my dream job I would be a Firefighter. The more attainable dream is to pick up 100 acre cattle ranch and raise Australian Shepherds. The cattle would only be for the tax write-off, and herding fodder. It could happen ;)
smithe1811
I would have to say either piloiting the Joins Strike Fighter for the Marine Corps. or racing indy cars. Erik :beerhead:
Akula69
Well, my dream job was to work in law enforcement. I got that, but I believed that just chasing bad guys around was the thing. I have since learned that what I really was yearning for was simply to help folks.
wolfpackjeeper
Props to the enlisted guys, they do lots of hard work, but they do not get to fly, so not for me. Actually, the Marine Corps. has enlisted navigators in the EA-6B Prowlers Erik :beerhead: Do they? It is a path for NAVY NFO's(read navigator) at Pensacola. But they are all ensigns in the program here. I could actually go to prowlers for a tour after I wing. It would be a Navy/Marine Pilot, Me as a WSO or EWO in the front, and two EWOs or NFOs in the back. Doesn't really matter, the EA-6B should be leaving in the near future in favor of the Growler. I will have to ask MAJ. Butcher about it though. He is a Marine EA-6B pilot.

Your right about the prowlers being on their way out, but i have been hearing that for about 8 years now and still havent seen anything, i think we;ll see the JSF in full service before we see the prowler go out.Speaking of aircraft on their way out, when is the F-15 getting replaced by the JSF? jtdesigns
I want to get paid big bucks to just breath. Thats all just paid to breath. Like 10 cents a breath would do. writing standard work layouts, or SOP's and running around making sure 6 sigma data is down, or internal customer pull instead of push systems are being implemented, and not slacked, or recording batch to flow systems, blah, blah, blah can kiss my lilly. And I can just sit here and type on this ol keyboard, or go out to the truck and fiddle with some wires, or take a drive to a good lil junk yard, or even goto sleep and still get paid to do it. Yeah my dream job would be just taking breaths. 10 cents a breath would do.
watchamakalit
I don't really have a dream job. I do have a dream though. I wanna be a mountain hermit. So I guess my dream job is what I have now. I am 3rd generation owner of the family furniture store. I plan to work my butt off for the next 20yrs growing the biz and hopefully sell it off to my daughter so I can retire at an early age to the appalachians and spend my days living completely of the land with my CJ, MJ, my chainsaws, a good axe and my wood stove. wolfpackjeeper
it actually sounds like they will be around for a while. We will not be getting to the total number of 22's they want, so they will be keeping the newer 15c's, probably 180 or so. the E's are gonna be around for a while. It is just too good at what it does. Carries a huge number of bombs, and can fight its way in and out. Air to Air if it needs to, interdiction, CAS, strike, it does it all. So I do not think we will see much of a draw down on those till a new bomb truck comes out. JSF is cool, great for the Marines as a harrier replacement, but for the AF and Navy, I just think it sacrifices too much in the way of range and bomb load in order to do the vertical takeoff thing. Cost is a huge factor too.

I got to do a little work with some f15's, f16's, a10's and b52's at joint red flag out in nellis. the only thing i hate about an AFB is that stinkin red line!i don't know how many times someone crossed it, why not put up a fence?? Erik :beerhead: I love AFBs, especially going TDY. Hands down, w/o a doubt, they have the best BOQs of any military branch. The runway is the last thing built at your typical AFB; first come the creature comforts, i.e. housing, commissary, Class 6, BEQ/BOQ, hobby shops, cable TV, MWR facilities, etc. etc. The zoomies know how to live. :D Next best is the Navy, the Army is dead last. I had the pleasure of living on post for many years at Clark AFB in the PI and Andersen AFB in Guam, as well as the non-pleasure of Army crapholes in Korea and the RMI. No comparision.

wolfpackjeeper
so far the Air Force is winning in the Auto Hobby Shop portion of MWR. The Navy has some cool stuff at P-cola, but the hobby shop there is out door. There are some pictures of the one at Maxwell AFB in my build thread, just posted them actually. I am here TDY and have been thoroughly enjoying that place.

WahooSteeler
I couldn't resist so I am guilty of furthering the "pron" star's dirty post. I suspect we should end this right here before it gets out of hand (me included) and Poppa Pete blocks the thread or removes the posts for us.

mjeff87
cloud physicist, hands down.....I've always had a fascination with meteorology. If Id'a had a bit of focus as a youngun I would have persued it as a career. Maybe I'll get rich working for the state, retire early and start a second career (yeah, that'll happen  ) Looking back, I should have gone Air Force instead of Army. I could have been a hurricane hunter, dropping dropsondes into the eyes of hurricanes from a C130. I'd give up various body parts to be able to do that at least once in my life..... I'd give up various body parts to be able to do that at least once in my life.....Jeff My son did that Jeff for about nine years after he got out of the Air Force, only working for NOAA out of Tampa, not the USAF. Started out in the old reliable P3 then became crew chief on the Gulfstream IV jets NOAA uses for hurricane hunting. Although rides in the little Gulfstream got hairy once in awhile, he enjoyed it. He "retired" though last year though and got a transfer to a NOAA networking desk job; got tired of all the travel and bouncing around. :D

dragonsfyr
I am currently in close to my dream job.........I drive trucks. BIG trucks. The only thing that would make my job better is if it was ALL drop and hook and I got paid a little more (I get $18.50/hr now) and worked a little less (I work about 45 to 50 hrs a week now). Anything over 40 is time and a half of course ($27.75/hr). SO dream job, all drop and hook, OTR, massive money, and my sweetie along side me as co-driver so the truck never stops moving.
