A lot of the tasteless bastids on this forum don't like chrome either. :D

It's not that we don't like chrome we just think it belongs on ricers. :D

Just yanking your chain. I like the chrome on your MJ. jamminz.gif

no, "we" don't like chrome, unless it is on a show quality trailer queen.

Clever, I'm impressed! Did you think that up all by yourself? I'm not quite show quality yet, but close. :chillin:

Yes, I did thanks. I must admit your truck doesn’t look all that bad. I would like to hear more about that 4.5 stroker.

That's a left-handed compliment if I ever hard one. But I understand - not everyone likes chrome, or even purple bumpers. What matters is I like it. :D

Stroker specs in a nutshell:

Hesco 4.5L Stroker Crate Engine, .030 over bore

Mopar 23.2# Injectors, Hesco Hi-Flo oil and water pumps

K&N Intake, Mike Leach headers w. 2.5" dual exhausts

Rear wheel peak readings: Torque 296.0 @ 3000RPM

HP 207.2 @ 3950PM measured on the Hesco dyno

well, it kind of looks like your a beginner at welding. Thats cool, its good that your trying something new. However, i would practice a bit more on some scrap steel till you get a little better. Welding something like a bumper that might be used to pull something is ok if your a good welder. those welds don't look the greatest and i wouldnt trust them to do anything more than hold up the bumper.

Oh, and I'm no expert either but I'm practicing.

i didnt get pics of it but it is welded or whatever you want to call it that i do. on both sides. so we'll see how holds up

...

it's been said, but not by me, that it's not strong enough. 89eliminator is correct.

x2. I'm far from a good welder, but those are not safe welds at all. I would keep practicing on some spare steel until you can get a better quality weld for it. Or you can go the fastest, safest and and most efficient route; have a professional do it.

You mean there are people you can pay that know how to weld? :shake:

I know, I was almost as excited about that as I was when I learned about sliced bread :chillin:

You don't necessarily have to be a good welder.... if your a good grinder!!!!! :brows: jamminz.gif

:D

I'm a d@mn good grinder too boy,, let me tell you!!!

that is NOT correct.

a good welder can weld structural.

a "let's cover it up by smoothing it with a grinder" welder is someone who should keep their welding to non-structural stuff and parts that can be smoothed with bondo.

anyone who uses the grinding method, please keep their built parts away from me (absolutely no offense meant)

proper penetration prevents piss poor performance

And seriously, if you can't make the bead look decent (I don't care for that fancy assed crap like poison spyder), then you can't control the bead well enough to produce a sound weld that is consistant and lacking in inclusions or cold spots...

Unifrom, even if not totally correct (I didn't crown the weld on the butt joint, because I didn't want it to stick up, where it was caused it to not matter)

Done with a stick welder, hence why it looks like it does...

No, no, no.... It's 'Welding is a lot like sex; it's really all about the penetration, but technique and coordination add a lot to it'
