I beleive thats roughly a 6 gallon tank, not too shabby. most permanantly installed tanks only hold 7 gallons, so your not far behind. your only going to be using about 140psi max, so its not like its going to blow the bottle up or anything. I'd say use it. I would.

I didn't really pay much attention to this subject, but I'm thinking about swapping the disc brake stuff off my ZJ's D35 rear onto my 98 XJ 8.25. I'm wondering if the axle bearing retainer bolt pattern is the same or not. I may also raid my not so favorite JY some night, and take away some good suff off ZJ's (the a$$hole wouldn't take my scrap steel from the cut up XJ, and I can't justify 1600 for a newer XJ door (just 1 door!)... ) Oh, and how hard would it be to just fill in holes, and re-drill new ones to force fitment?

Thought you were going to get me some under-hood pics of a 98 or 99 XJ. Luckily, I'm not in much of a rush anymore as I got busy working on other friends rigs lately to get them up and going for the trip, and my rig is out for the run coming up this weekend...

I just saw my buddy's XJ for the first time since it was in the shop when he got tons of psycho work done to it, and he had his lines front and rear custom made at I beleive 28" each. I don't think it cost him very much, but I can ask my other buddy how much they cost, and how hard they are to do, and where to get the parts.

I agree. I put me one of them fancy steerin' wheel cover/wrap thingies on mine about 5 years ago to thicken it up some....it's held up surprisingly well.... I've been scouting the 'yards in search of a good condition newer style black 3 spoke wheel, but haven't found one yet that's been worth pulling. I like the looks of them better than the 2 spoke. Maybe I'll get lucky this weekend <> Image Not Found Pretty sure I have like 4-5 of em laying around on columns. If only I can figure a way to separate the wheel from the column, to make shipment easier....

Driveshaft lenghts - 2wd and 4wd SWB MJ
rockhardzj replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I said 2wd, as in NO tcase. the front axle is nothing more than a tube, no drive components. I should actually add in, thats a D35 rear. I actually think we should get the proper lengths posted for after lifts, and at what height, gets a ballpark figure much easier. -

my old 4.0/ba10/2wd d-shaft for a SWB is 53" on the nose. It's a Deluxe D-shaft. -
Well, your high-ER in latitude... and my pet rat is down my girlfriends shirt. so tell me who is driving a piece of junk? Last I checked, I've been driving a 2003 WJ. :D That 4.7 blows 4.0's out of it's @$$ any day. And I have yet to drive my MJ, but when It's done, it won't be a piece of junk, so HA! My only piece of junk I have is my 98 ZJ, but once the MJ hits pavement, the ZJ is going on eBah!

How many troops go to the same place the same weekend? A quick google search turned this up when I searched for Philmont Ranch, where they were headed, Which just so conveniently happens to be located near the town of Cimarron, NM. The ranch serves 3000 or so scouts each summer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philmont_Scout_Ranch Thats a scary high likelyness that it could be their group...

Haha! Last time I was in the city was a month ago when I helped deliver a 44/60 combo to my buddy's house, before that, it was like more than a year and a half... I hate the city like this: :hateputers:

Well, I was going through my garage today, checking out driveshafts in my garage from my mom's old chevy van's that we had kept around. Plan is to use the tube from one of them for my MJ, and then just have it balanced professionally. Well, I find the perfect driveshaft, and turns up, it uses a larger (stronger u-joint) between the slip yoke, and the shaft itself. Best of all, this yoke fits perfectly onto the 231's output shaft, and even better yet, it has an extra 5/8" of slip splines to play with. Only downfall is the slip yoke itself allows for less u-joint travel than the stock one. This can be solved by easily grinding a small area away, and gain back some, or even more u-joint travel. The other end of the shaft only needs to be shortened, and a different yoke welded on. The tube is the exact same inside diameter, but a slightly thicker wall, meaning a stronger tube. Cost to make it street useable? Whatever the d-shaft shop charges to balance it, which should be quite cheap. Oh, and the tube I'm using is in near new condition, no rust, just some road debris scratches, still has good paint on it. I figured this info would be great info for all you redneck engineers out there, as chevy vans and trucks are dime a dozen in the JY.

I have nearly all the internals for a 231, extra, just laying around.
