  1. There are versions around the web in .pdf format if you know where to look. I've got one for my '88 saved to disc.
  2. Those axle setups should hold up behind a 2.5L engine. Good choice on gearing, I'll be using 5.38 with 35" tires and the 4banger.
  3. I've got a plate with a 1.5" acme nut welded to it that'll be bolted beneath the bed. The spare will then lay flat in the bed secured with the 1.5" acme rod with a Y handle. When the spare is removed, the bed is unobstructed for hauling.
  4. You can find them with many other common gear ratios. D44 v. 8.8 is much more fun than something as ambigous as how much is a D44 worth
  5. The power rating of an engine does matter, this is where the strength rating of the tranny comes into play. Who cares how hard you wheel it or how bad your shifts are if the tranny is rated for the power the engine makes.
  6. The axle shaft strength tested by Warn Ind: F8.8= 6,500 (lb. ft.) D44= 4,600-5,000 (lb. ft.) D35C= 4,000-4,300 (lb. ft.) ------------------------------- COT: Continuous output torque rating MOT: Maximum output torque rating (Numbers from January edition of Fourwheeler, page 60.) Dana 35 rear axle COT: 870 MOT: 3480 Dana 44 rear axle COT: 1100 MOT: 4460 Ford 8.8 28spline COT: 1250 MOT: 4600 Ford 8.8 31spline COT: 1360 MOT: 5100 Dana60 semifloat COT: 1500 MOT: 5500
  7. You're correct. But what does that have to do with anything? That argument is played out.
  8. I paid $100 for my 4.10 8.8 complete, you just have to do the legwork at the local junkyards. You pick the axle out of a pile of axles, or pull your own, and you can get it for $100 to $150. You go to a salvage yard and they pull you one off a sheld, you'll pay $350+.
  9. Why pay that when you can get a Ford 8.8 with discs, 4.10, and limited slip for $100 to $300? Much stronger than a D44.
  10. Hey, I resemble that remark
  11. Is your external slave factory? All the older AX5's I've seen were internal slave.
  12. I've got stock springs and SOA w/4.0L and haven't noticed any spring wrap.
  13. I ran a D30/8.25 3.55 in my '88 MJ with no problems, 6" of lift and 32" swampers.
  14. Sounds like it's a drivetrain for a 2.5L, must be '94+ since it has the better external clutch slave.
  15. I've got the shoulder belts from a '91, gray, if you need them. I'm using the floor end of the belts in my '88. Interested?
  16. I didn't take these, but here's some: http://photos.yahoo.com/marksb101 http://www.digitalmatter.us/gallery/thu ... p?album=40 Only two MJ's on the trails, and one S10 so there was a third pickup ;) Mine is the MJ without the kitchen sink in the back, that one is Pete's
  17. Nice seeing you guys on the trail, Pete, Bob, and Stumpy. Had a great time giving the Back 40 and TallDog a proper fairwell. Pete, how'd you do on Cannonball? What'dya think of it and the other trails?
  18. No, but I'm an avid webwheeler, what'dya wanna know? :brows:
  19. I'm leaving Sunday mornin', don't break on Saturday
  20. Nah, gonna wing it without one this time around. Haven't even bothered to install a stereo
  21. I'll be driving a red TrailBlazer pulling the red MJ on a trailer. Can't miss the MJ, the hood and PS fender are solid surface rust. Don't have a CB in it yet. Or you can ask Tom and Debbie and they'll surely point me out of a crowd.
  22. If you're getting 4.5" coils, why not step up to 5.5" coils and run a SOA in the rear using stock springs, it'll save you a bundle and look a lot better. The stock spring packs will flex better as well.
  23. A jeeper posted on another forum that he just got his out with an EZout.
  24. 31"s, with 3.5" or 4" of backspacing.
