  1. '90-'97 for me, 11B30. Too nice and quick for me, put him through what he put those he decapitated through :USAflag:
  2. I've seen decent satisfaction with Rough Country lifts myself.
  3. Yes, dust shields. Also considered cutting them off for simplicity.
  4. Anybody run their disc brakes without backing plates? The backing plates on my 8.8 are pretty ganked up and I'd rather remove them than replace them. Any potential problems with that?
  5. I just scored an Exploder 8.8, 4.10 and discs for $100
  6. I'm running YJ brake lines with 5.5" coils, no problems. I think I pulled the hard lines down a little and refastened them to the chassis.
  7. All jeep owner's manuals of vehicles with the 231 say to not tow with 1 end up as if using a dolly. If all 4 wheels are on the ground, the tranny is in park (auto) or 1st (manual) and transfer case in neutral. I've always unbolted the rear driveshaft and hung it from the undercarriage so the slipyoke didn't fall out spilling t-case fluid. Better safe than sorry.
  8. I just ordered a pair for my new 8.8
  9. I'd get 8" long, the excess is cut off anyway. As for Ubolt Eliminators:
  10. An admin can do it, and will have to reset your password for the first logon.
  11. There's a guy here locally that races an MJ on the gravel road speed races they hold annually in the Mark Twain NF. I think they like the heavier chassis of the MJ over the XJ. I'll see if I can find the pics. Found a few:
  12. My LCA's are 17" with 5.5" coils, and my caster is dead on with 16.25" UCA's. Axle is centered fore/aft where it's supposed to be. Check for a loose track bar as well, turning the steering wheel may show play in the upper mount.
  13. As of right now, I'm planning on making it up on Sunday. This is likely the last month anybody will be able to trail ride on the Back 40 and Tall Dog. Several other trails may close as well. They're looking at purchasing an old Quarry near Hannibal MO and RORP will likely move. RORP is an awesome park for anybody who hasn't been, there's a little something for everyone. Great onsite camping with no utilities.
  14. I need to get a progress pic of mine with the new metal, before I slap on the POR15 and make it all good.
  15. Crawl under any TJ and check out how the downpipe is routed, right in front of the oilpan sump where it can't be crushed. I flattened the stock exhaust in my YJ because it went under the bellhousing, now it's routed like the TJ. Make sure they leave room to access the starter when they build the new downpipe. Any muffler shop worth thier weight can custom build one.
  16. I'd get a new axle, or learn how to install offset balljoints yourself. That $$ is outragious.
  17. 1/2" is what you need, but they have different axletube diameters so you'll need larger ubolts and different ubolt plates. I get my ubolts at the local farm supply, but I'm going to make some ubolt eliminators and be done with ubolts forever
  18. I hope you can too. I may be putting the 4.10 axles in next week, and then we can work on you picking these axles up. Here's an update on RORP that those of you in the area should be interested in:
  19. Jeepnut, have you arranged this run through Tom and Debbie? Super nice people, and great hosts to work with.
  20. I've had the MJ for over a year, been running after building it up for about 4 months now. It'll be tough to not bring the YJ with the 8274 and lincoln lockers at both ends. Oh well, need to try this thing out anyway. Pine Lakes Resort is nice, the primitive camping is on a point that is surrounded by a nice lake on 3 sides. Pretty level and lots of trees for shade and hammocks. Bad thing is the toilets, showers, and beach are on the other side of the lake, and it's pretty far to walk. Most jeepers in our club that do the hotel thing stay in Louisiana, MO, just across the river from RORP. I've got a tough decision to make, as my club is having a father's day run to Rockport the weekend before, and I can't do both weekends.
  21. Door gasket? :chillin:
  22. Looks like a D30
  23. I may try to make it for one of the days, it'll be a virgin trail run for this MJ. I know RORP very well and can lead throughout the park.
  24. Looks like where I cut the rust out of my '88, also cut out above the muffler and one spot forward right in the pass. floorboard. I need to get some pics of my panels welded in, thank goodness for friends with a MIG welder.
  25. So the driveshaft pulled in half? I've got stock 231 parts if you or anybody needs some.
