If I can't finish it myself I have a few build fests with food and drinks supplied. I can teach someone how to build diffs and narrow an axle if needed. The same goes with anythink else I need to get done. I'll teach welding, electrical work or whatever. It's great to see people on this site will go out of there way to help me. I would help anyone of you anyway I can, if needed. Since this will be the last build it will be done correctly. My goal is an extended cab 4x4 prerunner with a long travel suspesion set-up. Prperly set-up it should ride and handle great and it will have 95 XJ R-134 AC, PL & PW,keyless entry and a bunch of other goodies. Haneman glass fenders and boxsides are planed with a 121" WB. One way or another it will get done. I bet the handicap plates will look funny... :brows:

You know Tim I had that same surgery about twelve years ago. I had bone spurs on my neck causing constant pain on my left shoulder and could not use my left arm. The doc explained he could either do a bone graft using a piece of bone from my leg, or use a metal plate with screws. I opted for the metal plate, and was completely back to normal after about a month. The doc who did my surgery also developed the same problem about a year later but he opted to go the bone graft route. It did not work at all, made it much worse, so he had to have it done again using the plate. Now he's fine. How did you have yours done, and do you go back for regular xrays and checkups? I'm sure you do, but just maybe it could be part of the problem? I know the pain caused from neck bone spurs sucks. They used titanium plates and screw with a synthetic piese to fill the gap that promotes bone growth around it. I was told my surgery was very complicated and I was left without enough strength to drink by myself for about a month. It took about 4 months to be able to lift a gallon of milk intgo the fridge.... My neck has been fine, the rest of my back has been my problems. From what I know these are in different areas. I'm sure I'll get thru it. The first time left me without feeling in some of my right hand. Hopefully they can help me out.

Well I'm back up for 2 more Norco..... When the pain pills wear off it's like a built in alarm clock....

A Toyota's Supra auto is a version of a AW-4. If you had the cash a 750hp pump gas Supra engine would get the job done.

I think it's time to trade this wreck in for a new one.

I started riding motorcycles at 6 year old at our cabin and at 10 I could ride the Pipline by myself on my cycle. Many crashes happend by the time i was 16. At 15 to 35 I wworked as a tech, a mopar mastertech for 12 years, At 21 I had a F-250 have a hoist leg slide of the frame and was hit on the head with the rear spring perch. At 25 I flipped a KX250 and shifted the middle of my back so it had a 3" curve. At 35 I couldn't wrench anymore because my back was to bad. So now I'm a parts guy with a great garage to do anything and a body thats shot. At 37 they had to remove bone spurs in my neck that were pinching off my spinal cord. That sugury left me with no feeling inn my right thumb index finger and half of my middle finger. Thats the main bs that caused other then lifting shortblocks, d60 and stuipid stuff like that by myself. You know it sucks typing when you can't feel the keyboard... I have to proof read everything 2 or 3 times if not more. I'm just up because I took 7 pills but can't fall a sleep, so I took 2 more valium....

Cap clamps and C-clamps will hold it on great upside down.

I've stated on here that this MJ build will be my last. This is because of my bad back. I haven't done much in the past week or so since I lost feeling in my left hand and have some serious pain in my back and that shoulder. I couldn't get my first MRI done due to the pain. A week later and I was at least able to get my neck MRI done. The pain was extreme. They called and said they found more bone spurs and bulging discs. I already have a 4 level fusion done in my neck and was told 5 years ago when my last complete MRI was done that I have 12 other degereated discs. I'm hoping I will be able to milk my back as long as I can. I really want to get my MJ done.... I hope this won't stop me. The meds make it hard to get stuff done. Right now I'm taking 160mg of Norcos(Vicodons), 120mg of valiums and 75mg of cylbensoprims with a 25mg amitriptilene at night. I still work full time too.. I haven't slept fo more then 5 hours without needing more meds and they just take the edge off the pain. 80% of it is still there if I move wrong. I think on monday they are going to want to do more surury and will be giving me real pain meds. This just sucks... I just want to build this MJ and then I'll give up the 20years of wrenching, the last of my hobbies/intrests and just try to help out people online. Well that enough venting.... I'm just sick of it...

A late 80's early 90's Supra with a stick would make a sick street MJ or prerunner.

Then slap on a truss on your HP D30 and buy a Super 30 kit and use Spicer gears. You could even do a WJ knuckle/brake upgrade You will have an axle that is better then the pinion draging TJ frt D44. D30's can use the same u-joints as a D44. All you will be doing is wasting money otherwise.. Donate it to cure cancer or something worthwhile.

also, a newer 2.4 turbo motor would swap in and uses a much stronger trans in the rwd trim. Otherwise I could wire a bunch of different 4cylinders to run on a early 90's pcm and harness. theres a lot of engine choices. 350hp and 25 mpg sounds pretty good to me. :brows:

Isn't a new vin a dash swap and an engine compartment ID plate swap away? If you have a title for those you should be able register it. Just thinking out loud....
-
Since you can get a Mopar 2.5 in a Dakota and they share a bellhousing wit a RWD Jeep. I have built a 2.2 with a turbo that was putting out 350hp. It would make a great street toy or a nice prerunner. 25 pounds of boost and it would be over 400hp if not 450... It could be fun.

If I gave one of those to my wife I would have to buy myself one(and not tell her). :brows: I'm sure she would come out in the garage after calling me in to do something a few times (something that I thought was pointless  ) and shoot me woth it when I was under the MJ on the creeper.....  I can picture me bouncing off of the underside of the MJ, probably drawing blood.... :headpop: 2 seconds of bare skinned payback would be about about right. I even know when I would do it... When she takes the remote and turns off Extreme 4x4 for something on the Lifetime channel.... I bet you wish you would have shot the cat instead now.... :D

If you have a center console you can cut it so it tucks under, around the seat mount down the middle. You and cut the rear so it removes also. I did this with my XJ and it worked great. There is some good heat shields out there aftermarket, search and find exactly what you need. Some mount outside and others inside. Dynomat is great for sound.

So what's the total for one hat, two can coozies, a inside mount windshield sticker, a 12" sticker, some business cards and a couple of magnets? Let me know where to send the payment for the hat, coozies, shipping and such and the donation to support the club. If there are any other info you'll need PM me so I can take care of it and send my paypal off. Thanks, Tim

There are many cars I regret selling: a Lemon Twist '71 340 pistol grip 4 speed 'Cuda with a 8 3/4 rear diff that I would swap from 3.23 gears to 4.88 gears in under an hour, best time 11.12 at 128mph, a '69 primer Cutlass 310HP 350ci Rocket V-8 M-22 4 speed 3.73 geared toy, a Hemi Orange '68 Roadrunners 440 Six-pack pistol grip 4 speed with 4.10 gears. A '72 Sublime 383 pistol grip 4 speed 'Cudawith 4.30 gears, a '71 455 auto Cutlass with 4.56 gears. A black '77 Aspen SE RT I put a built 340 in with a 999 slapstick auto and 3.90 gears. my '74 W150 PowerWagon 360 granny gear stick, A '78 Little Red Express, and my latest one that handled the best and ran high 11's, my black '05 SRT4 ACR with 300+ HP and 380# of torque at the front tires. I'm sure there are more, I've had 5 CJ's, a 68 Camaro and a bunch of cycles too. I should have saved them I'd be a rich man...

Two pairs of King bypass shocks, two pairs of King coilovers/springs. all the parts needed for my suspension links, about 200 feet of 1.75 .120 wall DOM, Hanneman fenders/boxsides, some 35" Creepy Crawlers and a enough cash and time to finish my MJ so it kicks a$$. For tools I wish a JD-3 powered bender with dies, a tube notcher, a set of dimple dies and a plazma cutter. An AC/DC stick welder and a TIG welder would be nice too. :brows: A fully heated and cair conditioned shop with air filtratition would be nice too. :D I could go on and on... At least I found my XJ 2dr drivers door I need to extend my MJ cab 9"

Get a plug patch made by TECH from your local tire store. It is exactly what you need. I buy 4 or 5 when I stop there. These are what CW is talking about.

Thanks  I built it back in '01 Here's a few other shots On the old XJ Image Not Found Side view. The angle back is the same as a front skid platess angle Image Not Found No grille guard Image Not Found

Get a plug patch made by TECH from your local tire store. Scuff the sidewall up and clean it with some brake clean. I like the old school flamable glue, I apply some to the tire, light it, blow it out, pull the plug patch in and do a good job of rolling it on to get the air out. It has worked for be without a problem on 4 tires I used offroad and to get to the trail. One tire had 7 plug patches in it. I had to add air about once a month... Do I recommend it.... No.

TNT = My wife's first initial - N(and) - My first initial Like Dynomite... Dangerous and to be handled with care. We have been using it for 20 years on our return address stickers. It's my screen name for almost all of the boards I'm on.

Sweet Rig. More pictures would be great. A build link would be awesome.

Center Console *Write up with Pictures*
TNT replied to 88XJSport's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
It would look way better with a good gear shifter indicater, You should be able to get one at almost any JY. That way it mainly lights the gear you are in. My '94 came with a cupholder on the passenger side of the console. If you use the cup holder by the E-brake lever make sure your e-brake is properly adjusted or the handle hits the cupholder. I don't know what I did but my handle is almost hitting the bottom of the console. The extra 2" of travel works great to apply the e-brake fully without hitting the console.
