  5. Although I"m by no means an expert, and I have never seen it done, theoretically I see no reason why a double cardan CV joint can't be used with a slip yoke thats what the former owner of mine did. i have vibration at the sye, but at this point unsure exactly is causing it. slop etc. dave

    merry christmas

    hope everybody has a great christmas season with your families!
  7. leaving texting as a separate subject for now; if you're not driving in the flow of traffic, this causes accidents. so what ever keeps your mind from DRIVING, or paying attention to what you are supposed to be doing DRIVING ,is a hindrance to the traffic flow. everytime i almost get in an accident, the above is the comman denominator. so everybody has their view of what they want to do, just don't kill someone in the pursuit of it, including me or mine. end of soapbox. ;

  13. a new thread from(school me on renix engine). thanks to cruiser54 for the info. i decided to clean this connector because i have a long standing miss. here is a couple of pics with it cleaned. that tar stuff was very time consuming to get off. it was as hard as asphalt. repeated washings and 6 scrapings later, the pics show the result. so i drowned it in dielectric grease and put it back together. i will post later any results. cruiser's info about the factories grounding problems is good enough for me to do it. i had already done the engine ground with a completely new grounding system, so ok there. dave

  15. Sorry to hear about your troubles man. I lost my job back in July of this year and it turned out to be one of the best things that could have happened to me. I got out of a job I hated and now I have a much better job making more money. Sometimes God closes doors when we don't think we're ready, but he is. When I lost my job, I just kept telling myself, it could always be worse. Its just a job - no one died. Every day is a gift and we just have to move forward making the best of what we have. As far as managing stress, stay busy. I found that I was a lot less stressed when I had something to do whether it was cleaning the house or tinkering with the Jeeps. Hope everything turns around for you quickly. he said it best.
  16. Do the grounds first. Trust me. I was Service Manager and Shop Foreman at a Jeep dealership when these things were new. I kept a diary of sorts regarding prominent issues during that time. That's what I'm sharing in my first post-tried and true repairs for known problems. Little bit of time and no money buys you insurance for fewer problems in the future. thanks for the tip.

    97 doors.

    i have 97 xj front doors without the inside door mechanism. as you travel in wrecking yards if you see the mechanical parts to operate the door, would you grab them and let me know. just the door handle plate and screws. or what is on the inside of the door. having never seen the inside of a 97 door :dunno: , not completely sure what to ask for. dave
