  1. yeah i was refering to the bolts that go thru the firewall. when my friend and I tried to take out the box and core the bolts had just spun.
  2. your truck isn't pre-wired for it, it's all lay-in stuff though. you need the complete door and crossover harness(es) from a 2 door cherokee with power windows. get those, lay them in, attach the switch panels. you will need a power window regulator and motor from a 4 door cherokee front door for each side. it is a plug and play system, but like I said, w door is the system you want. cut out the rear hatch harness from the cherokee harness, re-wrap the wiring, and ta-da it works. the 4 door system has 2 extra switches and wiring that will need to be cut out, since you don't have rear doors. which wires are the power and ground for the window and lock circuits? when i look at the diagrams it says red for the windows and violet for the locks. problem is, when i look at the harnesses they have a red/black and no violet for the locks. sorry to hyjack the thread. it's just that very soon i will be doing the switch over to the 91 cherokee doors i bought.
  3. what do you do when the bolts for the heater box are rusted all the way thru, and the speed clips just spin? the only thing that I can think of doing is either cutting the bolts with a dremel or just breaking the heater box housing. thanks in advance. because i will more than likely do this in a few months, because i still have the mouse nest smell lingering.
  4. specs on the truck? more than likely central axle disconnect not working. that is what I have whitnessed happen to other members.

    Wanna race?

Nice find. that is a really good sleeper. hopefully one of these days I will be able to build a sleeper.
  6. if you have oil in the air filter that means more than likely you blew a head gasket. how is your coolant? if that is gone and/or mixed with oil then you just have a head job on your hands. I did one in 2 nights with about $250 in parts. I'd get a second opinion. and i'd fix it.
  7. nice job so far. can't wait to see the finished product.
  8. are you refering to the preheater hose that comes off of the exhaust manafold and goes up to the airbox? I was just curious what hose it was, if it was vac hose or not. but glad to read that you figured it out.
  9. I feel your pain. i too had to deal with similar problems on my build. I needed to get my hub off to replace the hub and u-joint. I also had a rim that would not come off the old rear axle. we tried everything, pb blaster, 10 lbs sludge and hanging on it. that thing just didn't come off. we had to get another rim and tire from the junk yard.
  10. that is just awsome. I would love to do that to my mj. but unfortunately I don't have the capability or money to do that. but boy I'd love to. very nice truck!!!! and what did it cost & how long to do this? out of curiosity.
  11. that is a cool idea. i bet this thing will be pretty expensive, if it does get produced.
  12. lucky duck, i would love to have a job like that. heck i have a degree in aircraft maintenance with a specailization in helicopters. good luck!! hopefully my day will come.
  13. I too thought that the dakota lights look very similar, since my bro has a 94. it's close but would take some modification.
  14. that's an awesome sticker, where can i get one?
  15. great find at a great price. lucky duck.
  16. I would @$$/u/me is does, I doubled checked - The 5th digit of the vin is the Powertrain- The 6th & 7th digit of the vin is the "body type"- 63 = Jeep Comanche - 4wd - 6' 64 = Jeep Comanche - 2wd - 6' 65 = Jeep Comanche - 4wd - 7' 66 = Jeep Comanche - 2wd - 7' And to complete the list on the 8th digit - The list you posted was for the 4001 - 5000 GVW For over 5001 - 6000 GVW (For Comanche) F = Comanche Base (MT/BT) F = Comanche - Custom (MT) R = Comanche Pioneer (MT/BT) U = Comanche Laredo (MT/BT) Note: there only one other vehicle on the 5001-6000 GVW list, and that a N = Grand Wagoneer/J10 Foot note: MT = Metric Ton and BT = Big ton Hope this help you find what "you" have, but I agree, what's been posted, any Comanche could be "Custom" ordered at the time, the window sticker I have for the '88 proves that. thanks for the info. my 8th didget is a "P" so it must be a pioneer. which means i need to call my insurance and have them fix their records.
  17. I'm very glad that I watched that. I would have done the big no no's. now I need to get some of those metal hook's/c-clamp's. good video find.
  18. here's my vista screenshot And my xp screenshot. god I love dual operating systems.lol. I feel that I must explain my xp shot. it's a collage of my cars that I've owned and still have. my very first car was the bottom right gold car, an 84 plymouth turismo. And the grand am gt was fun for the 4 yrs i had it. but I still love my tiburon the most of all, for the fun summer sports car.
  19. Your insurance card isn't much of an authenticity authority. From the Wildman: Your 8th digit in the Vin will tell you what package you have - For a swb - 1= Base (sportruck) P= Pioneer S= Chief T= Laredo Run your VIN to know for sure. thanks for the info. is that the same for a lwb?
  20. this was the weather before x-mas 2007 in my hometown of northern Il. that was a fun night. it was like 6inches of snow.
  21. sounds like a good find. this just makes me ask a question though. what is the big deal about the laredo addition? because according to my insurance card my mj is a laredo, but yet has pioneer badges.
  22. glad to read about another northern Il mj owner. sorry to hear that you had to through alot of parts at it. that dealer should have figured it out sooner. hopefully they didn't bend you over. I had a 99 cherokee that i just gave up on. I ended up trading it in for the wifes current 03 suzuki xl-7. that thing, I almost started throwing major parts at it like the fuel pump and distributor. I am glad that I didn't have to deal with it.
  23. I'll probably be there depend on when it happens. Baby comes end of April, so we won't be wheeling very often for a few months after.... Sounds like I am not the only one. my wife and i are expecting around june 19th, so even if i could get my rig fully ready by then. I unfortunately won't be able to go. this is definately something that i have to do asap. maybe in a few years.
  24. I too worry about this. i just figured that if i get really serious with wheeling then i will either have one made from mine, or buy one to be made up the correct length.
  25. nice find. very funny.
