I had the unfortunate chance to work on one. They suck balls, and I will never touch one again. For something so big, there sure is ZERO room to work in around or under them. Not to mention the vacuum bull $#!& on them.

been doing this for a couple years in my '87...i'm a semi mechanic, so pneumatic switches are plentiful.

hmm. Is there a dent on the rear passenger bed side? if not, then I feel better cause it's not the truck i'm thinking of... that's a dana 35

and now you know why I was chasing it since 2006. yes, AMC20. should be 3.73 or 4.10 in it.

only had 2 good dogs in my life. one was a german shepherd who mooched like a sonofa (he got fed strictly leftovers for the last 5 years of his life)...and one was a blue heeler/aussie shepherd who only lived to the age of 3. didn't listen well, high strung. easy to train, hard to get him to do something you told him to do the 1st time you tell him. he loved eating things he shouldn't, and went so far as to climb up on a desk and eat rat poisoning to do so...that was the end of that. I do not deal with begging from dogs very well. I've had two wiener dogs and one retriever mix since then....they were all rescues and have since found new homes as I could not take their bad habits. dogs are a to each their own type of deal...some are OK with begging and can tolerate it, and the some can not.

gotcha. i've been after that truck for years...old owner used to go to a church on 12 north of abel's corners, always saw it. left tons of cards/messages. I have all the parts to make it 4x4 for you ;)

you have it for sale on craigslist, by any chance?
-
I don't have one, but may be able to help out later in the week. didn't realize you're so close...i'm in the wind lake area, hail from burlington.

How to add a magnet in side of the diff
JeepcoMJ replied to btm24's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
won't do anything on the fill plug, since the gear lube sits below it. plug type magnets are only useful when they sit at the drain, which our axles don't have. if your cover has a drain hole, put it there. otherwise, find an adhesive that will be "proofed" (i.e. highly resistant) to gear lube, and glue the magnet as low as you can go inside the diff cover, NOT in the axle housing itself. -
another bent d30 question
JeepcoMJ replied to XxStirCrazedxX's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Swapping the gears will require more than the extra $30 in seals and whatnot. But a complete axle. Upgrade to a non disconnect while you are at it -
impact torx. full set, 1/4 drive up to 1/2 drive. won't use a torx unless it's impact quality steel...period. same goes for e-torx. torx type sockets comprise roughly $250 of my socket drawer...which is around $2k in sockets. expensive, yes. but the right tools are well worth it any day of the week.

if you're having the thing painted, what does the color of the door matter? get a door of any color, spray bomb it with duplicolor white, after liberally scuffing it, and call it good until you get a proper paint job. no body work, no tears. it sucks that your father (allegedly) did that. I've had a few similar things happen, but everyone has always owned up to it.

next time cut the head off the the bolts, remove the sensor, remove bolts with vice grips, replace bolts.

the officers failed to approach the driver, and failed to get permission to search the car. They had probable cause to search the car, however they did this entirely in the wrong order. the officer was completely out of line, and he did not LET the driver say "I've got a concealed carry permit".

Which Novak shifter linkage, advice needed.
JeepcoMJ replied to knever3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
a threaded rod and YJ shift arm with two heim joints would net pretty much the same results without having to modify anything in regards to your shifter handle, and can be done for under $15. way cheaper. -
Turn signal flasher needed after 97+ conversion
JeepcoMJ replied to Blue XJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Something is wrong with your wiring...no flasher should be needed -
I've worked on an Rx7 rotary, and helped a buddy put a 3 rotor engine in in place of his original 2. never. ever. want. rotary.

Seeking a learned second opiion
JeepcoMJ replied to jeephack's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
head gasket or cracked head. not likely, but could be cracked coolant jacket. either way coolant is getting into your oil. stop driving it. -
and i'm out. Have to finish up projects here. getting my $#!& taken care of so I can thin the herd down to the 3800, the xj, and beaterjeep's mj.

last I checked, it was at the badlands off road park as a parts truck in Attica, IN.

I own my first and 19th comanches still...both in a bit of disrepair, but still here. 1986 comanche, 2.8l was 2x4 full 4x4 conversion, swapped 2.8 out for buick 3800. currently sitting due to bad rod bearing, inability to keep ax5's in it, and it got hit in the driver's rear quarter. and my 87-gone-95-gone-99. was 2x4 with d44, swb. several stages of lifts, currently apart due to lots of plan changing. how about you guys?
-
just wondering. want to get down there again soon.

count me plus one now (buddy zach, fellow mj owner). looks like I will be between jobs that week, as I just got a response from a more reputable company. this is a definite 100% certain going to be there. planning on leaving friday morning, coming home sunday afternoon.

Like I said I don't know how much its truely worth. I traded my truck for it, so the only money I have invested is the work i've done on the motor and all the parts I've had to fix. But I did get it about 1.5 years ago and it was in even worse condition I understand that. I'm not comfortable making any offer knowing what you have into it... I feel that i've already thrown insult by telling you what it's not worth. I've been dealing with these since I started with comanches (my dad's diesel is the first i've ever seen), I know them very well...and I can tell you you probably will fetch a higher dollar amount from someone who doesn't know the vehicles and thinks "I like jeeps, it's a diesel, cool...$$$". they as i'm sure you know will be sadly disapointed with their expectations. they're neat jeeps, can be reliable if maintained, are extremely rare, but have no collector's value right now. -Pat

oh. uh. not even talking anywhere close to the same ball park. it's not a muscle car... sorry you have that much into it, but with the maintenance requirements of these 2.1l diesels, rarity of parts, and the fact that the body style isn't even a collector's item...it's not worth half that.
