for the cheapness of it, since my '87/99mj is not done, i'm just putting the motor from that into the xj. much cheaper solution, and it will have me up and running by the weekend. keep this one around then, for a spare.

buddy of mine used those plugs once. best burnt pistons EVER. stay away from platinums and performance plugs on 4.0s...too high of a nickel content in the head for them to work properly. and. you invested money in lifting and putting bigger tires on the jeep. bad gas mileage is the result...time to regear, and not complain about the cost since it was an inevitable result.

this motor is .030 over. I hardly ever drive over 55, and on the few ocasions that I do, not above 65-70 on the interstate. any suggestions? and prices? I'm having some issues coming across prices for various cams. Thanks -Pat

my '97 xj 4.0 has a bad cam on the number 6 lobe. I have a '96 used cam in good shape with no scoring/scratching that I could put in. obviously new lifters. I've already got the lifters, head gasket, head bolts, intake/exhaust gasket, push rods, and necessary rockers to replace the bad ones. Would you guys use the used cam, or would you go ahead and buy a new one. and if I'm buying a new one, I certainly am not putting a stock one in it....so what would you suggest? keep in mind i'm trying to increase mileage and power, as much as possible. history on the jeep...I built this motor a year and a half ago, it sat on an engine stand for a year, got installed in the jeep (at the time my old room mate's), and then my room mate moved out with 2 days notice, and didn't do the break-in oil changes. one month later, he beat the piss out of it off-road and blew the head gasket. I grudgingly did the head gasket for him. 3 months after that, he beat the piss out of it again illegally wheeling, got stuck, beat up on it to get out, and drove home with a real bad lifter tick. i told him to stop driving it, not even to start it, until i could look at it. he did not listen. then got drunk on St. Patrick's day, drove it, got it impounded, couldn't afford to get it back, i bought it from the impound lot. Yes, clearly moderators should be stripped of their sense of humor. actually, I think that there is absolutely no humor in the subject at hand, no matter what your position is on it. if he isn't dead, Obama is still a liar, but more-so. if he is dead, we should probably be remembering those who died fighting, and those who were murdered by the guy. we should also be asking why any "respect" was given to osama by a "proper burial". there isn't humor here, and you sir, are a disgrace.

got one mint comanche tail light for $10 bunch of tools and such for work picked up a used speedglass auto shield that came with a ton of new lenses for $50 cd player for the cherokee two 3/8 pneumatic ingersol rand drills for work steve stopped at the miller booth and bought a brand new spectrum 625 plasma cutter, and a dynasty 180 tig welder, and picked up a used arctic cat kitty cat for $300 that should sell for around $1200 this fall/winter.

collapsed number 6 intake lifter, bent number 6 exhaust lifter, bad rocker and one bad bridge. $20 for head gasket $36 for head bolts $13 for intake/exhaust gasket $3 for new push rod had a spare lifter or 12 sitting here from another motor that had a bad cylinder, but didn't trust the push rods. also had spare bridges and rockers. runs fantastic now, no backfiring, no goofy tendencies. keeping this one. i know it very well, so I may as well drive it seeing as i've replaced everything that typically wears when it used to be my room mates.

I've had a mosin nagant m91/30, among other guns. but for home defense, I've got a remmy 570, and a walther p22. i know the p22 isjust a .22 cal, but it looks bigger and 10 rounds semi auto from a .22 is going to stop someone. that stays next to the bed, the gun cabinet is another 5 feet away.

pulled the valve cover, disconnected CPS, had room mate crank over for me. number 6 exhaust valve doesn't move (much), but does move in time. looks to be a bent push rod. I'll replace that, and we shall see. hopefully the lifter is fine and I won't have to pull the head. the noise it makes is more of a slap than a ticking noise, I can only assume that the lifter is bouncing around like a sumbi*ch. I built this jeep for him...2000 hard miles on the new motor in it, rebuilt the trans, tcase, all have the same miles. 2001 intake manifold upgrade, 62mm throttle body, ebay header. already replaced the floors, too. going to add cruise control, power windows, locks, mirrors, fix the engine issue, and then realistically I will decide to sell it because that's just what I do.

Sold this one for a few hundred profit without fixing it to a guy wjo us gonna fix and drive. Then got a call and bought another one for 500 thats in nicer shape...pics tonight
