the cargo area would work pretty much all years, but the front carpet changed when they changed the seat mounts.

got the rear floor cleaned up (not very rusty at all...few tiny bubble spots), and installed the rear vinyl setup. while I was in there, I also cleaned out the rust/dirt/dust under the panels and down in the quarters.

had a GREAT haul at the junkyard today. originally went to try and find a new driver's tail light since I shattered mine on accident...came out with... a pair of new in box 97 up tail lights...already installed d/s one before pic for the drive home lol found a 96 xj police package...which means complete vinyl carpet for 95-01 xj. complete with wheel well covers a 97 and up 3 switch panel with good switches, and a factory 1999-2001 7 pin trailer harness connector, with brake wiring already set up and there was a Meyer 7'6" plow on a J10 honcho, with an E47 electric pump...and a Meyer slick stick. yay! don't have to install a fugly dual switch setup...now I can put a joystick right on my shifter handle. also picked up a pair of good shift knobs since I somehow broke mine... no pic of the stick i picked up, or shift knobs, but this is what a slick stick looks like all for $80.

tailpipe all welded in. full welded exhaust added a 3rd cross bar new tunes. spent about 2 hours combining 3 sets of waterlogged and rusted out factory fogs to make one good set, to replace the bad ones on this thing. the fog light switch was also fried out... and then there was light! aside from that, I washed all the windows inside and out (first time in quite a few years, I'm sure), fixed the rear wiper arm, painted all of the wiper arms, and fixed the 3rd brake light as well as rebuilt the rear hatch wiring harness, since it was all sorts of wrecked from opening and closing for so many years.

nice! mine is only in OK shape.

put a new tailpipe on and eliminated the pre-axle turndown. a helluva lot quieter. also blacked out the wheels and put the hood bra I had on it.

looking good! keep up the good work! (FYI, Renix is a disease that you can't properly medicate....you simply need an organ donor)

249 transfer case,,,enlighten me.

earlier models use a 21 spline input shaft, later use 23 spline IIRC. -
welcome back! that is a fantastically nice chief. great find! now...you should ship me that shifter handle lol.

thought for a second you were talking about real flame throwers. struck me into remembering a quote from George Carlin... "The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.”

Exhaust rattle on the cross member
JeepcoMJ replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
replace your transmission mount. I've found that if it's rattling, generally the trans mount is on it's last legs and has deteriorated to a point that it's lost around 1/2" of height. -
Restoring Aluminum Wheels?
JeepcoMJ replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
aircraft aluminum stripper. pulls the clear coat clean off, leaving you to be able to sand out the pitted sections. polish, then re-apply clear coat. -
I see no evidence of anything. that said, even given a lack of evidence, I can't say thatit's *not* an alien ship, or that aliens do or don't exist. and I can't say that aliens were not present for the first thanksgiving... :rotfl2:

In need of two Icon rims, all silver (not dark grey) I would prefer to buy in quantity of either 2, or 5, but will take what I can get. I've got two bad rims for my brother's truck, and we've just bought a set of 5 brand new tires. wtb local to south east wisconsin.

until recently, was a semi mechanic/spanish interpreter/working on stripping semi trucks/trailers. now, I'm for hire lol.

just got fired yesterday. it's absolutely fantastic! got to sleep in, already took care of everything. but, then again...my boss was bipolar, screamed bitched and yelled, and pushed me until I couldn't be pushed anymore. and chucked an o2 regulator for the torches at my dad.... I've never been fired before, and I've never had any reason to feel bad after quitting. sure, the lack of money sucks...especially because I've never claimed unemployment until yesterday. but, aside from that, I just feel that it's time to write a new chapter in my life.

Yet another reason to buy straight from the company that manufactured the items. Most if not all of their lift components come from places like rough country etc.

I tried to play this last night....it could not hold my attention. Neat, but not my cup of tea

Interior Plastic Part Restoration
JeepcoMJ replied to glundblad's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
heat gun properly applied does wonders that nothing else can. It pulls the color back up out of the plastic Edited for typo -
well, have yet to get down by rob to steal his plow mount to copy, but I did accomplish a few things, of which I hope to finish up and have pics up this week. while moving into the new place this past month, I accidently broke my fish tank in the back of the jeep, which held around 5 gallons of saltwater....so, the rear carpet had to come up, and the floors washed down with dawn and water, let her dry out, address any rust issues (rear floor looks great, driver's front is gone), steam clean the carpets out, and decide on replacing them with the vinyl '96 carpet I have, or keep the stock ones.

Throttle Body to carberator swap.
JeepcoMJ replied to jamonroe75's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my 86 model/85 production year 4 cylinder comanches (i've had two) were both TBI, non-carburated. above and beyond that, my 86 xj, with a mid 85 production date, was TBI. maybe some 4 cyl mj's were carb'd. but not here in the states, so I would have no experience with that. simply put, here in the states, there is not a carb'd 4 cyl mj availability, barring that they were imported. I speak from personal experience, which is as pointed out is not fact...just what I consider rule of thumb. -
Throttle Body to carberator swap.
JeepcoMJ replied to jamonroe75's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The mj 4 cylinder never had a carb. It was a throttle body injection system. 84 to 85 cherokee had a ca rb with no computer. -

Why not just fix it right. -
'96 XJ to '90 XJ donor possibility questions
JeepcoMJ replied to knever3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yeah, cause 3/16" is only a minute difference in a motor :thwak: porting involves shaving mere millimeters for power gains...
