  1. it has all of those
  2. change over the TPS sensor swap out the crankshaft sensor, you should check the ignition control module, and it's probably the computer. it's kinda hard to use the lower of the 87 tbi since it only has 2 vacuum outputs unlike the 86's 4 vac. outputs, but seems like you're getting somewhere.
  3. that would be a vent line or something of the sort. all my MJ's have that line with that connector, and it doesn't connect to anything.
  4. .. I don't think I have any pics of it, but I haven't found an MJ yet that didn't need rust repair in that section. not even the 3800.
  5. mine's pretty peppy for a 4 cyl...it's the 4.10 gearing and 5th gear tho. it gets like 16-17mpg because I run 55mph to school and back every day. it's best mpg (21) is at 45mph and 2500rpm.
  6. I have a factory one with a mint rear step bumper just layin in the barn...waiting for it's debut on a different rig than my 89. if anyone wants, I can trace the end brackets on construction paper and mail them to you, OR I can just make the end brackets and ship them for somewhere around cost of material plus shipping. you can get any other class 3 from the junkyard that's for a fullsize, and cut the main tube down to fit the MJ brackets then weld them up (have yet to look into it, but I plan on building 3 or 4 sets for our MJ's here and having a pro weld it, should cost around $40-$50 shipped) just some pics of the bumper/hitch and how the hitch attatches to the bumper, for reference.
  7. probably not the computer, more likely a bad sensor on the TBI unit. swap some sensors off the 87 unit, they're interchangeable. the injector...just pour cleaner into the gas tank and see what happens
  8. if you're complaining about that one spot, then you're sorely misguided in the world of comanches. you replace the entire soft section. to do that you remove the seat, lower interior trim, center console, and carpet. use a rust converter/dissolver/preventative AFTER you replace the bad section. if the rest of the truck is in great shape, you have absolutely nothing to worry about...that's not structural.
  9. TBI is throttle body injection. there is an injector (singular, sorry) there. check it, it may be pouring too much in. the ICM (ignition control module) is what you think is your "coil pack". it powers the distributor. let me ask, what all did you swap over when you did the swap? did you just yank the motor (complete) and drop it in, or did you put all the distributor/accessories/crank position sensor/ICM from the 86 motor on the 87 motor? I just put an 88 4 cylinder into an 86 and while I do have some high idle problems and a sometimes-miss, I don't have any other issues with it. I don't really care regardless...this motor is temporary for me and it's just a DD. *shrug*
  10. and also check your injectors, that sounds kind of like an injector fault. and your ICM should be checked along with the distributor etc.
  11. if it was just "JEEPS" in general we could do it...but it would have to be that broad. we couldn't accomplish it with comanches, there aren't enough of us with them out there, and even fewer of us have the $$$ to make a trip to one area to do it.
  12. haha, it's an extra $2.50 an hour on friday night, saturday, and sundays now :brows: (11 bucks an hour weekends). I won't make instant profit sharing this year because I fractured my ankle in march and was out of work for 2 months...I'll be 82 hours short of the 1000 hour minimum  but oh well.
  13. idk when they stopped, but it's team members now... I'm at the burlington store, it's kinda crappy how I'm always at work or school, but the pay is OK.
  14. That's what I do, except I fiberglass the entire thing, or at least resin the front. you will need to buy new material, and peel the old stuff off. otherwise you will stain the old stuff and it'll look like crap. ebay has headliner material
  15. extremely. once you learn to fly them though, you can do anything you want with them.. just need a BIG space to fly them in.
  16. ha, so I work at menards, and it's black friday. work actually wasn't that bad. it was made all the better when I found out we are selling these http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-Remote-Control ... dZViewItem just a little different graphics. $9.95 minus my 10% menards team member discount later, and I have a mini RC helicopter that fits in my hand. it's reheally sweet I already flew it into things like; my face my cat my dog's face a tree (inside tree) a few walls a doorknob ...and finally, my saltwater fish tank . :D just barely touched down and I powered her back up enough to take off so I could catch her. no damage whatsoever. but, money well spent for a cheap thrill...I will enjoy it for awhle :brows:
  17. ...or it could even be classic "I downgraded to a 2.5" syndrome... they're underpowered motors. but, better than a 2.8...is it behaving worse than even a 2.5 should?
  18. my tow bumper, built specifically for the purpose and bolts into all 6 stock locations (could extend it more for safety though...) it's first use was on this which was my bro's and my 86 2.8 beater offroad truck it's been used on about 4 comanche's that I've brought home to either resurrect or part out, plus a few cherokees in the mix...works great, and I wouldn't flat tow without something that's at least that strong.
  19. thats as much as i put on my truck since i got it in June '06 yea... it's what you get when you drive 45 min. to school and back almost every day... oil change sunday morning. also "new" front left rubber motor mount...tore the old one today. gonna go poly next time.
  20. 3000 miles in 29 days
  21. you won't see him for awhile, but Beaterjeep (joe) lives in menomonee so he's near you. he owns an 88 4 cyl 2wd that's rust free but needs a small amount of body work, and an 86 2.8 that came from girsmj86 that's immaculate exterior-wise except the flat black paint, needs new motor/trans soon and finish interior. good guy, he's in the hospital at the moment but should be out soon. other than that, we're all 5 or 6 hours southeast of you for the most part
  22. yea don't breathe freon um...was the radiator mounted properly? if it was not in the mount holes properly it could have caused that. another thing is that your bearing on the rad. fan could be bad and it could be wobbling forward and back... doesn't look like they messed with it though.
  23. looks really really good :D I have one that's identical that I'm putting in my cherokee with a sunroof...will be cut off right after the lights in order to work.

    long arms

I like the TNT y-link kit better, but let us know how this one works out :D
  25. lol...all of the sensors for the OHC aren't even located in it either, which is why I preferred this one. no running 50 wires to make it work. my mpg gauge is a reciept, trip meter, and cell phone calculator. = 20+ mpg with the camaro motor :D
