  1. I haven't heard from him at all, but his cell phone isn't shut off, so I have to hope that it's all OK. we'll see.
  2. well...I gotta alter the bumper for 1 spare anyways...why not go for 2? lol. it'll be primarily a single spare tire with the other siwngout being for the gerry can/water can/tow stuff. :D I have most of the stuff for on board air as well now...rear bumper is the tank, I have the hoses and connector (that'll go next to the gas tank filler behind the gas tank door). all I need is the intake filter for the a/c, the lubricant reservoir, and the lube seperator. I already have the regulator. *shrug* I'm lifting it higher than I intended so I'm gonna just build it to what I want right away, upgrade the motor sometime this spring/summer.
  3. nice :D I'm  i know
  4. ..exactly. I drive 55mph, approx. 36 miles one way, daily and would like to you know, not have to peg it to the floor. it'll get an engine upgrade as well, since the xj is in pretty good shape, I don't think I should look for another one (I have...about $900 invested in it right now and no rust-through/minimal surface rust...and the investment goes down once I sell the 90 xj since that was part of the trade). so I'm thinking upgrade the 3800 to a supercharged 3.8...which will need all new mounts and such...and then put the 3800 in the xj I also have my air tank/HD rear bumper from TNT that just needs the ends extended to match the xj body, and I'll be installing a dual swingout tire carrier...tire on left swing, gerry cans/water/tow rope/shackles on right, with the hi-lift below them across the bumper. the right swingout will be removable so that I can add a second spare tire should I need to.
  5. got 4.5" lift coils and shocks for $50. so it'll be a 4.5" lift I'll have to boomerang shackle it to make it right with the new springs I think. gonna make a set of lower control arms for it, and make a trackbar for it as well. only run 31" tires though, cause the 33x12.50 won't fit, and in the end...it's still a 4 cyl. 33's are too big.
  6. YOU'RE the one who's doing the swap...not many others have.
  7. I actually like the grille...
  8. I'm wanting to do a raised roof...but that thing's got round body lines on a square body style...it just doesn't go.
  9. use WJ lower control arms to avoid the rubbing.
  10. hey, grab some pics of that aftermarket tailgate on it please...does it mount stock? I want to build one like it, or buy that one...
  11. no that's just an ebay thing...protecting people from knowing who the bidders are and thus being able to undercut the buyer by speaking to and/or threatening the buyers. I've seen it in quite a few auctions now...just a security measure.
  12. just go to your local junkyard, you can pull any amount of the plastic pieces that you wish if they have junk panels...and I'm sure they won't charge you much (so long as it's a junk piece) I've thrown away plenty of door panels cause I just don't care...or the cardboard is soggy.
  13. yes it's worth it for the rust-free bed. that light is a factory cargo light..go get the dash bezel out of it too.
  14. lol...it's worth that as a collector's truck though if you ask me. plus if it's as mint as it looks...you're geting a small pickup in great shape for quite a deal considering current small pickup prices.
  15. I'll try and take a pic on wednesday or thursday of it for you.
  16. like this? :brows: you may have to be moving slowly to get into 4 hi, but will need to be stopped to get into 4 low.
  17. well, she's been getting about 19mpg...not so hot. she needs new plugs so I'll be taking the serepentine off and a/c unit off soon (got to to get to the front plug) and getting that done. will be replacing all vacuum lines as well. added 800 watt sub system to her along with a pioneer DEH-6700MP head unit and a cargo cover. next project is to install the HD air tank rear bumper along with swingout tire carrier built onto it. then the E-van rear springs will be installed along with boomerang shackles, and match the lift up front to whatever the rear springs alot me for lift. will run 30x9.5 or 31x9.5 tires on it, and she will most likely end up with the 3800 motor out of my MJ...since I've found a 22xxx mile supercharged buick 3800 to put in the MJ :brows:
  18. yea. there are 2 types of seats, one the back comes off of (it's a panel) and the other you have to tip the seat forward and undo the bottom of the seatcover, reach up inside, and pinch the 2 clips that hold the plastic piece in.
  19. to get it into 4 low, you pull it to 4 hi, then move it over to the right, then back again into 4 low
  20. that's a good price for how clean it is. and that's what I'd let the 3800 go for once she's ship-shape again, so I can't balk at the price at all.
  21. hey tim, we can use the plasma cutter to cut the cab apart how you need it. that'll make it less work building the cab/altering the cab mounts, and it won't even burn the paint off except for that 1/16" past the cut :D
  22. I do not think you grasp TNT's idea at all he'll be removing the bed, chopping the back of his cab off right at the door stop, then he's using another section of cab that's cut midway between the doors from a donor, and putting that section on his existing frame accompanied by 2 door doors. that gives him a long cab and doesn't risk the integrity of the unibody frame rails by cutting them. reinforcement will of course be needed in the cab. then, cutting the exact same amount off the front of the bed that he extended the cab, he can put the bed back on. this keeps his short wheel base for offroading so he doesn't high center. bobbing the rear of the bed to the shackles gives him a greater departure angle and will decrease chances of screwing anything up offroad. since he's starting with a shortbed, he'll end up with a 4.5 foot long bed approx. my only concern TNT, is that your gas tank will no longer fit in the stock location since the cab will be over the top of the front 10" of it. will you be building a stock-mounted fuel cell or a bed-mounted one, or adapting a stock tank? his plan is one that I've toyed with and have a very good knowledge on since I've looked over all the framing issues already...this is the smartest way to do it.

    paint decisions

haha, Wade, if you regret spending as much as you did on your paint...how should I feel? if you want a show/street truck, get it painted by a pro or learn to paint like a pro. if you want a trail rig, just do a clean job of painting cheap...remember, paint actually prevents rust. if you don't give a sh*t, then go get some whitewash :D :brows:
  24. very clean job! colors don't bo together great (but don't listen to me, I'm partly colorblind it seems), but very, very nice job! any pics of a how-to on the door panel build?
  25. you need new lower control arms..I can see that the springs are arced back a bit and your wheels aren't quite perfectly centered. did you keep the stock ones?
