:agree: if you have the skills to do this and have it be structurally sound, take HALF that skill, if even that much and put it into fabbing up a proper suspension lift. it's a bad idea (no offense)

1" won't mess up the shifter linkage all that badly. AND it's an adjustable linkage, so even pitching it up won't affect that too badly. do you have a shortbed or a longbed, and what's your lift or planned lift height? comanches have longer driveshafts than cherokees, and not as many issues with operating angles. the double cardigan front driveshaft won't have much issue with that small change in operation. if it comes down to it, a YJ rear driveshaft slip-yoke will net you another 12 degrees of downward travel or so, so it's not a big deal you're pretty much planning a belly-up then? this is where you tuck everything up under the jeep so it doesn't stand as much chance of hitting the rocks and such. just watch out, the tranny should flex with the motor, so you don't want the t-case to hit the floor all that much -Pat

...i think the point is to get them cheaper than a grand... of course, you're not going to get a nice bolt-in kit like that for less than a grand.

no, i look at titles now and if it interests me...i read it. otherwise i mark all as unread. *shrug* i don't read all the posts like i used to...which is probably why my posts per day is going to be steadily declining. it's a sin i know, but i can get more accomplished by not using the forum than i can by using it (sitting here = time)

89eliminator told me this today. I've been thinking of getting the TNT y-link for awhile now... i don't like the name. another thing i don't like is the almost $150 price jump for their Y-link upgrade kit. blah.

well, Joe (beaterjeep) had some knee problems and likely needs surgery. i found out tonight that he's in the hospital again. haven't gotten any specifics yet, but I will find out soon hopefully. wish him luck. i'm posting this so anyone he's working out stuff with, will know what's going on.

i like doing pinion seals while the axle is out. after all, it's a $5 part, i have one laying in the garage that i bought for the bent front axle that's currently in the 3800, and it's easy to rpelace. preload isn't hard to set

buy the RC 4.5" kit from ebay...it's a good deal http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/86-93-Je ... enameZWD1V

yup. rough country. rough prices are as follows $130 for the front springs $130 for the trackbar $280 shipped for the adjustable control arms (this may be high) $80 for the front shocks $50 for the front brake lines (you can save this $$$ by just dropping your line mounts as far as possible) $80 for swaybar disconnects, or build your own $26 for a 1990-1995 dodge dakota rear brake line (much longer) $20 for rear axle spring perches $20 for new ubolts $836 for everything. you could probably go with cheaper control arms, and used parts, and get the lift done for less than $450. that's buying EVERYTHING and not making any of it yourself. 6.5" of lift cost me $400 bucks but i built almost everything but the trackbar and coil springs.

cherokee or comanche. you can buy the gauge faces off ebay. there are a few different ones. also, gojeep has them in pdf format, BUT they don't fit quite perfect from what I've seen. those ar e just plain white, the other option is backlit ones, which are easy to install but require just a small amount of wiring knowledge.
-
finished up the front axle housing. just a couple things left...clean and paint the knuckles then install them, and install the UCA bushings and new pinion seal. then it's pretty much complete. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found

not even close to the same. even the wiring is different. the looms will be different lengths...probably some of the same connectors if not all, but different lengths none-the-less. the dash from a tj won't bolt in either. you need all xj parts for a direct swap. but, that doesn't mean you can't put it in there :brows:

If you don't have anything going on tonight give me a call. sorry, work til 9pm then tax paperwork (a bit late i know) then won't be in town til friday. i don't think i really have a day off for 3 weeks or so.
-
Sure. Are you interesred in the T&T shackles also? probably.

:brows: sweet tim, i can't wait to see it in person!
-
thank god...you don't want one of their stickers on your rig :P
-
haha. we don't all like to work on our back like you do ;) :brows: j/k man. no, that was friday night when we were looking for the loose part in the steering...the pitman TRE is going bad, haven't replaced it yet

working on axles to get them ready... here's my dana 44 rear, 4.09 gears. got it from TNT Image Not Found Image Not Found and my dana 30 front, 4.10 gears. ball joints are done, just need to install knuckles after I blast them, and clean the housing plus reinstall UCA bushings Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found i'm building an xj with/for alex at Scorpion Automotive in milwaukee...in exchange i get to use the lift and such, plus build another MJ in his shop Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found anyways, i'm off to get that front axle all cleaned up and maybe start on the rear...i'm hoping to install them in the next couple weeks along with a lift (i need to get my lift back, and order the control arms...but then i still don't have tires that are big enough for a 6.5" lift...)
-
wanna work out a deal on your old rear springs?
-
:D i'm most likely going to 4.5" lift and 4.10's tomorrow. i'm currently running 3.55's and 3" of lift with 31" tires. i'm not changing tire size at the moment, and am sure i'll still love the results. my powerband is different from your guys' trucks, so i will net a bit different result than normal...right now i run around 1800RPM at 60mph with 31's, and i should run around 2100-2200rpm with 4.10's. i'll appreciate the regear i'm sure. for 35" tires, you need to run 4.56 or 4.88 to be satisfied and back to a "stock" axle to tire ratio.

What's it worth as it sits now since it only needs half of a new body and a fresh motor?? And yeah, I know, don't ask me what I paid for it. haha. it's worth $500 in my opinion. don't try to suggest i just sell it outright. that would be much harder to sell, and i'd lose the axles. :P
-
tcu or something in the throttle body like the tps or the cable from throttle to trans
-
it's a cherokee and i'm not fixing it up. the axles are needed, tranny with np231 would be nice as a spare, a buddy needs the body cause of trail carnage (his mechanics are good, body is fubar). were I to fix it, I'd say it would be worth somewhere around 2,000 dollars being a 5 speed 4wd 4 cylinder with a fresh motor (needs rebuilt) and clutch, 4.10 gears, and I'd take out all the rust. that was originally the plan (build it and drive it) but i don't have the time right now. if anyone is interested, make me an offer.
-
lol. thanks for the high price. i meant, price from you guys (we manche guys are notoriously cheap compared to most other jeepers) :P still, if someone wants to pay me $500 for it...;)
