interested in parting with the output shaft, input shaft, and tail housing (with rubber boot?) housing? I could use them... maybe even the front yoke if you're not gonna use it. -Pat

Lowering Spring differences
JeepcoMJ replied to wolfpackjeeper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
did this on beaterjeep's truck. on a 4cyl 2wd lwb the drop was 3". the ride does not get better, it gets WORSE. but good shocks/air bags would fix that problem. -
gather all of your reciepts. go to the insurance company and lay the COPIES of them out (better safe than sorry). tell them you've submitted those copies to your lawyer and are prepared to sue them if they won't pay out the value of the total repair. then tell them that a fair market value vehicle estimate will show the value of the truck, and that you are scheduling one (do not say who with). your one major card up your sleeve is that the truck is not replaceable. it is a collectors item within 3 years (20 years old = collectors item). if you do have to go get a vehicle estimate done, ask them to estimate it without the damage...just explain why and they will understand. make sure the estimator isn't associated with the opposing insurance. tell them what you've got into the jeep, then you will need to give them reciepts for everything. you can also have them estimate your time on it. "document" your time and your "going rate" for hourly wage. they'll figure that out with tax included and hike the estimate up further. as it sat before the accident, after having had my estimate done, the 3800 (my 86 longbed) is worth $8300 as far as insurance is concerned. being 20 years old I have it on collector's insurance now which costs me almost nothing compared to my old insurance and is full coverage. i just can't drive it one month out of the year. -Pat

uploaded pictures of it from last friday when I went to play in the mud :D didn't get any while wheeling...was busy fixing it for part of the time. sheared the shift fork right off my axle disconnect and couldn't stay in 4wd

went mudding for a bit after work...then spent more than I cared to to get it out. devised a plan to make cleaning mud inside the bedside easier....just drill out spot welds on the inner fender well between the inside bedside an the outer skin, remove it, replace with a few braces. then It doesn't have the rust point on top of the inner well in the rear, and I can spray front to back inside the bedside to prevent rust. also cutting the rear lower quarter sections off this weekend and perhaps finishing my bumper.

this can be a problem but won't be in this situation...I've known chris since I was 10. we get in touch and loose touch for awhile all the time, but are just as good of friends now as we were then... he has NO knowledge of cars, I do. so we worked out the deal and he's more than happy with it (hell, we're gonna get PAYED to take the cars by the time all the spare parts are sold). I can post pics by sunday probably.

So, a friend of mine has a 76 or 77 alfa romeo convertible. one of the rare 2000cc ones. paid $500 for it it's a bit rusty (repairable) but the engine/trans are in GREAT mechanical shape, save that it needs a clutch (completely nonfunctional). here's what they look like anyways, he was looking for body panels and came across a COMPLETE 77 alfa, same motor and everything. it's 70% restored with 4 spare black interiors, one aftermarket hard top, one good cloth top with rear window, 2 spare motors (rare sell $6500 or so rebuilt), 2 spare trannies, spare wiring harness, and all the body panels needed to finish out his current alfa (rockers, rear valance, rear fenders). $600 for all of that. he offered me this deal...I finish the "new" one, he GIVES me the old one and everything to fix it (rockers, rear valance, rear fenders, rear window/complete cloth top, spare interior parts, and clutch/throwout/pilot bushing). I have a feeling this will turn out great. gonna put the "new" one together, throw a clutch in his old one, drive it through the summer, then it will be my winter restore project next winter. oh, and I found a $700 hp lap top in my work's dumpster this week...it was the land lord's son's computer but he cracked the screen. asked if I could have it, he said yeah. replaced screen (same friend sells/builds computers and gave me one), works great has wireless bluetooth and everything lol) and wiped it. man, this is definitely my week anyone have experience with alfa's?

Project "Eliminator"
JeepcoMJ replied to 89eliminator's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
wow rog...that's a newb question that I figured you'd know lol. two things... allow you to run a double cardan rear driveshaft (this is NOT to be confused with CV shafts) for added down-travel allow you to still make it home no matter if one or the other of your driveshafts break (t-case can no longer leak fluid as it has a sealed yoke front and back of the t-case) Wow  Maybe I should get one with 8.5" of lift huh :hmm: with a cherokee? yup. that, or a YJ slip-yoke. it adds around 13 degrees of down-travel to your shaft -

yep. big issue here though...unless you have an estimate on the value of your truck as higher than kbb, it's only worth around $1500 to them had the same issues with my 86 first time it was hit. I only got 1300 for the damage and didn't have to total it out. second time was a cluster**** since the guy who hit me knew the cop. cop is no longer employed and lost her pension (5 years from pension) for favoring the person at fault even though he WAS the one who turned left into the side of my truck. however his insurance won't pay because it took 3 months to get that far, and if the ticket wasn't issued within 30 days it cannot be held in account for insurance claims in the state of WI. just started straightening out my bed today actually...not pretty but better so far

You will like this! So what is this used for? I never seen something like this? :hmm: slip yoke eliminator for the back of the t-case. -
yup. that poor truck...it's becoming one cheromanches, one extended cab comanche, donated to a cherokee, donated for some half doors, donated some interior, contained beaterjeep's new transmission.\ sorry...off topic lol

x2  It's the purple. You're thinking of Zoolander's (project88) rear tube bumper. lol. nah. it was in my barn for the past year and a half...i got sick of looking at it
-
You can't fix it? i'm not THAT good man. it's busted to hell...I'd take a pic but lol...

the ones that are sold out, unfortunately :-/ i don't know the numbers off hand just that they're not available anymore. they were just cherokee 6" shocks. Drahcir, I haven't touched the OHC since then...been busy with other more "necessary" projects on the truck. hopefully get that done and in within the next month.

SWEET! :brows: :clapping: GET HER ON THE ROAD lol -
contrary to belief, I CAN have a sense of humour. but when it goes too far I go further lol. anyways, yeah my birthday is soon but I don't expect much/anything and I won't ask for anything either...the parents have enough to worry about. plus I'm 22 man...i don't need to be babied THAT much lol. as for the parts bin...well, I've kinda scrapped out most of it. I pretty much just have small nick-nacks, some axles (that I'm using), hoods, fenders, and doors left. I do have 3 4.0's though...but one has a cracked piston, one has holes in 5 pistons, and one is my brother's.

Edelbrock cone air filter for cheap!!!
JeepcoMJ replied to TNT's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Exactly, little. It looks like a lawn mower filter. Wonder what the filtering sq. inch area is....... I have a lot of time and $$ in my engine, and no way I'd stick one of those things on my rig for a primary air filter. It looks like it would be more restrictive than the stock box. yeah, but then why would you bother with an oiled filter at all? I don't like ANY oiled filters. nice replacement paper element, or canister filter is where it's at. they seal better, easier to hook to a snorkel or duct air to, you can get great performance from them...and you don't have to oil them. K&N's miss a TON of particles in the air that your factory air cleaner wouldn't miss too BTW...and I'm sure the edelbrock is just more of the same. -
I respectfully disagree, and push the statement to further say that .1 liters of intake volume is hardly capable of effecting ANY performance changes on any vehicle.
