  1. Hey Pete. I don't think posting it in DIY is gonna do much. because THAT at least is justifiably somewhere a new member wouldn't know where to look. how about combining "forum problems and website ideas" and "testing..1...2" to be "Forum Problems, Website ideas, and Testing" then just add a subforum on the main page right below Tech which is called "Common Tech issues and Concerns" then lock all threads which get moved into that subforum so that the topics don't get off point...but set it up to be easily viewed. I would volunteer to maintain something of that nature...it would be very easy, and EXTREMELY accessible. plus search for things of that nature would be easier...just select to search ONLY "Common Tech Issues and Concerns" just an idea lol...
  2. Sir Sam is correct. NO 97+ electronic parts are compatible with 1996 and prior. that means zero. ECU in the 97+ is what controls the gauges. it interprets what the sending units send to the ECU, and swaps them into recognizable code for the gauges. there is no bypass module for this, and no way to program it or make it work save developing a control computer yourself, and that is only possible if you're a tech genius. you will need 97+ parts to make a 97+ dash work. this means ALL wiring. ALL drivetrain. ALL instruments. ALL electrical devices. you can NOT use a 96 engine and 96 electronics with a 97+ system. they are not compatible. the block would work. and the head would work. everything else is NOT interchangeable, unless you are using a 97/98 to do the conversion...in which case the intake is the same, however I believe the exhaust changes to two manifolds in 98. at that point, you would still need to swap the 97+ fuel rail, throttle body, and all electronics to the 96 block. that's all fact and cannot be reinterpreted. (sorry if any of that sounded prickish lol. just trying to leave zero loose ends and zero room for misinterpretation) -Pat
  3. *shrug*. I didn't mean that they are stupid posts...just repetitive. I'll help you guys out, but honestly how many seat bracket posts do we need on here? how many "what do u think of RC" posts do we need? you'll get the same info each time. IDK about u guys, but when I join a new forum, I read the rules. and I ALWAYS search before I post a question.
  4. so, if you read the bolded quote... were I to list something in classifieds on that site, I could not then have it posted on craigslist or ebay? I don't know how that makes sense. if I get a good offer from a member, I'll give them a good deal and cancel the auction. if some jerkoff tries to give me $5 for a factory cargo light and switch...well, I'll be leaving it on ebay to get $100, when all the person offering had to do was be realistic and tell me they'd pay $50 shipped. then it would be cool. I understand that you're trying to prevent someone from playing members against each other. just making you aware that there are guys who will take their fellow jeepers over joe blow ebay, if it's worth the time and effort for them.
  5. well maybe I'm just a fool, but I'm not gonna waste my time searching unless I know for fact that I've seen the thread before. it's really not worth my time. and goblazers, screw you, and your seat :rotfl2:
  6. I'm getting a little annoyed with the fact that no one uses the search button. it seems that 4 times or more a week we get a thread repeat about something. i.e. + seat install comanche to bucket swap track bar etc. I don't have a problem with threads diagnosing an issue, because every vehicle has different symptoms....but geez all the lame little stuff is starting to add up and just waste space. i know it's bound to happen as the site grows...but this is worse than naxja for reposts. anyone else feel that way?
  7. nice volvo got anymore pics? I hope you're joking.
  8. *sigh* guys guys guys....read the post and look at bold answer: track bar. either the upper TRE or lower bushing is shot, loose, or the lower bolt hole has become grooved. also check tie rod ends on drag-link and tie rod I suppose the ujoints could use some grease, but they're not likely the main source of your issues. -Pat
  9. lol. why give ya fair warning? I was thinking, maybe I should be coming back with another comanche in tow Hum..........Do I really need to explain that one :hmm: And yea.......what's the spec's your looking for.......I know a few MJ's around here :brows: But FYI..........The MJ's are very rusty around here :( PM me and I'll give ya my # so if you do hit WNY, give me a call :D specs? i don't know. but I have a feeling that I need to take out a loan, and bring my car dolly with. realistically by some miracle I'm hoping to come home with at least 1 good longbed.
  10. lol, thanks. I'm up for everything except for church. I really respect church-going people and their beliefs (which I share the basic belief)...however, after going to a horrible catholic school for many years, I am nowhere near ready to even attempt to go back to church. it's just the idea of church that gives me issues, so no offense meant at all but I can't do that. everything else sounds fun, if time permits :D
  11. lol... I don't have time to really "do" anything. just wanted to see what I could wave at as I pass by... and maybe stop at a few club member's places to say hi
  12. lol. why give ya fair warning? I was thinking, maybe I should be coming back with another comanche in tow
  13. yeah, well shows he's getting smarter. ....cause that first car wasn't just fugly, it was just plain ghey.
  14. lol. got an engine hoist, I could probably stop by for a few.
  15. lol. I could do that...if I had any.
  16. eff that. don't you know that Burlington, WI is the Nestle capitol of the world? I stick with my home town when it comes to chocolate.
  17. depends. they don't have any vin records prior to the changeover year
  18. headed out to at least two of the three places in the title for the next several weeks for work. wondering if there's anything worthwhile to do in my "off" time, but unsure if I'm going to just West Virginia, or W.V. and Pennsylvania, or those two and Western New York. gotta do tank inspections on some reverse osmosis units at alot of McD's
  19. they have torque specs for that? next you'll tell me they have torque specs for valve covers and oil pans and transmission pans :ack:
  20. there are *ahem* ...ways around this. try doing a "body swap". people do body swaps on framed vehicles all the time, so why can't we? :hmm:
  21. replace them all. I have both door locks and an ignition cylinder with matching keys. brand new. I can try and rekey a glovebox lock to match the door key as well.
  22. nice truck. whenever I see truck nuts, I go grab a piece of sticky printer paper, cut a chunk off, and write "I'm ghey" on them then stick it to the nuts. truck nuts are just stupid. I got a set of chrome ones if anyone wants something to throw in the fire pit and make big sparks.
  23. lol. how about a mass pm to all current members, excluding said member
  24. yeah. it's been awhile since I looked at it. that's what I was meaning to say lol. regardless, it's set properly right now. I'll accomdate the carrier bearing height to obtain my goal.
