...adding .1 liter of air volume is NOT going to change your power OR torque by much, if any. the difference would be negligable and not noticable. throttle body spacers are a scam.
-
as for cost...edelbrock was having an 80% off sale. all four of them cost me right about $260 shipped. normally they were something like $223/shock
-
yeah, I'm planning on putting them on the front of the axle (or top/top-ish) and triangulating them in. I didn't need bumpstop extensions to keep the tires from rubbing before so don't really wish to do them now, so I'll flex it out and figure out my upper and lower mounting points then weld up the lowers mounts, then build new upper mounts on a small crossmember between the frame rails. yeah I'm gonna secure all four lines to save me from that hassle. also may cut out the factory front upper mounts and sink them up one more inch to gain another inch of up-travel.
-
not going for post count, going for at least letting people know what the deal is with the shocks...especially since you can't get any solid info out of edelbrock on them.
-
2.5 + performance? lol :rotf: :rotfl2: now I've heard it all! :clapping: p.s. TB spacers are COMPLETELY WORTHLESS never buy one they don't do jack squat

Just got my edelbrock shocks! full cherokee set of 6" edelbrock extreme travel external reservoir shocks (monotubes) front length; compressed....18.5" extended....29.5" rear length; compressed....will update when I measure extended....will update when I measure comes with: mounting hardware for reservoirs (I chose not to use their bolts for that...used them for the front shock lower bolts) mounting straps for reservoirs zip-tie for covers 1 large decal each shock, one small decal each set (front, rear) the rears come with a bar pin like cherokees use in the rear. I took it out and utilized my stock upper mounts and the lower mounts I had put on. Need to bump stop rear by about 2" then do some flex tests with the thing and probably build triangulated rear mounts. the fronts mount like stock shocks...bar pin lower, with a bolt on the upper as normal. I left that system alone. These shocks only allow around 4" of up travel, so at 6.5" I need to bump stop by about 3 to 3.5" pics of all 4 shocks old rough country fronts compared to edelbrock shocks front shocks, and how I mounted them. the reservoirs will be covered by the factory splash guard to keep them from getting damaged, and the line needs to be secured. also, because I drilled through into the cab to mount the reservoirs, I will need to waterproof that part of the cab. rear shocks and how I mounted the reservoirs. I have come down on rocks in that area before...but with the storage I'm building there, there will be a skid plate in that area to protect them. my opinions on the road ride... GREAT!. easily 10 times better than the rough country shocks. no more jerky ride. the rear shocks I used to have failed, so every bump would kick the arse end of the truck up in the air. not anymore. it drives like it's factory height with nice shocks...you feel the bumps, but not much. cracks in the pavement you hardly notice. I'll post some flex info on them when I get the bump stops taken care of

no $#^& sherlock. didn't I post that I have to bump stop? anyways, you don't want to mount them under hood. with the temperatures inside there, your shocks will get very hot and that is not a good thing for operation on external reservoir shocks. my location is about as good as it gets. well, at least without taking the fender off to mount them higher. the factory splash shield will cover them and protect them from getting damaged...and with the rock rails going on it, there won't be much chance of crushing the reservoir by crushing the fender into it. I'll probably build a small bracket or something to ensure they don't get wrecked even if that does happen. wade, you're a joker

on a side note, the wheels hook better now because they're not coming off the ground every time i hit a bump :rotf: :rotfl2:  :brows:

Feeling crazy: John Deere Yellow paint for the MJ?
JeepcoMJ replied to phenryiv1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I like yellow too. it's just that john deere's suck...so I'd find a yellow not associated with crappy machinery :D -
higher? what are you on? they sit a good 2.5" lower than my buckets (I did build my bucket brackets with swivel bucket brackets though...)
-
yup. works great on tractor tires.
-
but then it would almost definitely do it at idle. as Pete asked...does it increase with speed? it could be the front drive shaft double cardan needs rebuilt.

yellow? sure. but not john deere yellow. john deere's are garbage. every one we've had needed 10 times more work than any massey harris/massey ferguson we ever had....and they were a good 20 years OLDER. John Deere's you just pay for the green and yellow paint...and you pay for the comanches for better reasons (because it's actually worth it). so choose a different yellow and be happy with it :D -
yup. have the space, have the parts. only thing missing is the time to throw them in. Joe's a good guy, he deserves a great truck...I aim to do what I can to make that happen.
-
k seems pretty straight forward. I was test-fitting my 95 seats and just didn't like how they sit angled with the floor...was gonna space them up a bit probably. but then I got a lead on some older leather tan buckets in great shape...so gonna try those first.
-
you name it, and that's why. if it can be done, it needs to be done and then it needs to go back to it's owner
-
got pics of those seat mounts?
-
well it's tentatively done: I still need to put reverse lights in the corners of it, finish the D-ring tabs, drill a hole in the hitch for the pin to go through, grind the inside of the trailer hook spots, and make the inside frame brackets plus add 3 more bolts to them. that will all be fairly quick. in a few weeks I will make the side protection for the rear, but next weekend I install new shocks (have to build front BPEs top and bottom, and upper and lower brackets in the rear), OBA tank, roll bar (with tire carrier attached), and get started on my storage compartments. I may have tracked down some good leather waggy seats in tan colour...if they're as nice as I'm told, I'll be installing them instead of the 95 seats.
-
Once you get the fender and the door back on, it's invisible. Robert not really. you just have to know where to look. and he knows. lol...sorry, I'm anal about these things...well, with my 86 anyways.
-
nice job but...aren't you gonna clean that up a bit so it looks nicer? i mean...the rest of the truck is BEAUTIFUL so far so I wouldn't overlook a little thing like that
-
:agree: That's it. I wonder what it's doing underneath an MJ? I guess we can add 7.25 to the list of possible MJ axles why add it. it's the equivelant of a dana 35...which never shoulda been in our jeeps anyways.
-
what's wrong with that. I like it. If you recall, that's where beaterjeep's MJ will end up
-
LOL you guy's too :brows: It's got a couple of small tags attached (see pic) I'll crawl underneath it tomorrow and see if I can read what they say it's a chrysler 7.25. scrap it.
