  1. I guess I just got a bad install... well... I've taken it all the way out, bought new seals and glass cuz I shattered mine and reinstalled with about 40 gallons of every sealer and caulk we could try. Still leaks... leaks when it's just sitting, leaks A LOT while you're driving in the rain with the windows cracked....I hate mine.
  2. I had this sheet of 20 gauge sitting around so I started to make a pattern/template to try to figure out the wheel well opening...didn't go as planned. I cut on the wrong line. But other than that I think these will look and fit good. Ive got a piece of 1/8" (a hair thicker than the 12 gauge I'll use) that I can make a legit template out of this weekend maybe.
  3. I started to make bed rail covers like 3 years ago but never finished them. But now with the sliders on them with the rest of the armor, it would bring everything together and make a truck look awesome! And nobody makes the bedside armor for mjs so there isn't flares out there. These custom sets on here are it...
  4. DO NOT DO IT!!! I have a dealer installed sunroof from 1994. It leaks! Worst idea ever!
  5. These are hooligans xj panels...(3/16" steel) I could do just a 2 bend piece like on the face that's just bolted on Or something that wraps under and then bolts to the frame like the first picture... But then it comes down to price... spend money on some covers that might crush and make the bed side worse if it comes to that...or go until you crush that corner anyways then cut it out and throw a bumper with that protection on there... Hooligan sells these piece (a pair) for $85. I already know that is too low, rift now, for mj sets.... they're twice as long and more angles. And these wouldn't wrap around the back at all Also, I'll be working on the tail light armor to work with the bedside armor.
  6. That's my thought too. If you're gonna crush it, cut it off and build a bumper... it's gonna crush with or without my armor...
  7. Those are the easier parts. Like I said, the bottom panel is going to be the hardest. And I haven't found a single picture of anyone ever making that piece of armor! Another thing I have to figure out is how to make it more than just a bolt on piece of steel. Because that won't protect much if you hit hard. It'll just crush the bedside still. Hooligan off-road offers a frame tie in option for their Cherokee armor down there. Might do something like that.
  8. This is basically what I'm going for. Except full length of the bed (possibly a shorter option) And the rail would be made into the separate piece with the bed rail caps. So "full" bed protection, top to bottom would be 3 pieces (4th piece would be from the wheel forward at the very bottom) **can't remember who's trucks these are but these guys did a good job!
  9. They definitely will not be all one piece. The bottom quarter will be a separate piece like hooligan off-road offers for the cherokees. And they probably won't wrap around the rear all perfect and with a nice radius. Probably be pretty angled and "blocky" but still fit nice and tight as possible. If anybody has any pictures of anything like this, post em.
  10. I haven't decided yet...there are so many angles down at the bottom there. I'm gonna start with the bedside and flare and go from there. Something else easy I'm going to do is bed rail caps with sliders maybe. This is just all a possibility, depending on cost, time and how easy everything is.
  11. I hate spending $300 on one and keeping my old one!
  12. Well,...last night the drift trike earned it's new nickname..."mustang". It plowed thru s crowd of people and hit my new dodge... Bent the frame and front forks on the trike and smashed the twist throttle. Put a dent in my truck bumper Took out a girls ankles And sliced the rider's finger open. He had to get 4 stitches. Balls!
  13. Right threads and everything seats good when tight. Just all the vibration and movement of the wheel works them loose.
  14. Does anybody know how keep hardened steel bolts tight in an aluminum thread? The hubs on my drift trike are aluminum and after putting the wheels on, then bolting them on WITH blue locktite and torquing them, after riding it just a little bit, all the bolts came loose. Any ideas? Might try longer bolts and putting lock nuts on the back side of the hubs...
  15. Don't buy the cheap ones is my suggestion. Lol
  16. I'm getting ready to build one out of square tubing. Will look a lot better than this one in the rear. And might do the little holes and pipe in the neck like this one.
  17. Does 27 mph right now. Still a lot of clean up to do. Gotta figure out a better twist throttle and cable. It's got a cheap twist on it now and the cable is spliced together to be long enough. Gotta put a rear brake on it. The front bicycle brake is useless.
  18. I leave the tow mirrors folded down. I can use them better that way...And Ya, mine came with the LED bed lights. Wish the 3rd brake light/cargo light and license plate lights were LED also. I'll have to change them later.
  19. Well, this is the first full sized truck ive owned. so it pulls like a dream for me compared to the MJ. I've never had a/c in any of my jeeps so I barely use it in the dodge. Nothing in the seats either. No power. Just power locks and windows. All I need. This one was $8000 cheaper than all the others around and on the lot. Not sure why. It was still brand new. Came with the bed liner, which none of the others did. Doesn't have full length running boards but who cares. I built a step that slides into my receiver. I like the cargo lights. It does need more power. But I'm not touching it until my warranty is up, since I even upgraded that a little. DEF is dumb too. And I hate not having a screw on fuel cap. I get 18.5-19.5 outta mine. Only pulled that trailer a couple times with the quads on it... Suspension is different than the 3rd gens. Cabs are bigger too. My buddy has a 3rd gen. Like 5 inches longer than 3rd.
  20. I got me a 2016 too a month and a half ago. Love it! Not completely loaded but not base model.
  21. Mine, which will be welded on will be sheet metal, 14 or 16 gauge. Maybe 18. A little thicker than the rest of the body. And then mine will have one of my hitches hidden behind the license plate. I guess I shouldn't word it as "roll pan bumper". It is a thin sheet metal "filler" for ease of rolling/shaping it. I don't even think I could shape a piece of 1/8" for this...
