Well come to find out the new slave cylinder we put on wasn't any good. Got a 2nd replacement...but we had already dropped the tranny to look at the clutch. Couldn't find anything wrong with it. BUT, the pilot bearing came out with the tranny. When they machined my flywheel adapter, the bearing wasn't tight in it. So we used shim paper and that didn't hold. But the bearing wasn't going to come out so we left it. Well 17,000 miles later and a lot of spinning, and it has wore a groove in the adapter. So we took it off and I ordered a pilot bushing that is a tiny bit bigger (biggest we could find) which is actually a 4.0L to NV4500 adapter bushing...but I still don't think it'll be big enough. Because I have to have the groove machined out and the groove is bigger than the bushing... so might have to have another steel sleeve machined to go between the adapter and the bushing.... lot of stupid work. But while the adapter is out I'm going to have the engineers at work draw it up so I can have them machine one out for my other cummins swap.

Kinda got distracted from the bedsides and messed with my new metal Shrinker and attempted some tail light housings. Close but they're still very far from perfect. Also looked at roll pan ideas- 197 replies

And up until last night, I thought the mj bedsides were double walled so I'd have to use nutserts to mount these...nope. I drilled a hole for a nursert and could see ground. So I look up from the bottom side and see my hole. So I just drilled a couple 1/4" holes and ran some bolts through win washers and nuts on the back. Will be more solid than nutserts. The only place nutserts will be needed are the 4 (or eventually 2, might delete 2 holes) above the center of the wheel well. You can't reach up that high. Mounting these is definitely a two person job. I had to lay on the ground and reach up behind the bedside and use a magnet on the front side to secure the bolt so it wouldn't come out when I put the nut on it. Once you drill and bolt the first 2 holes on the top, with the 1:1 scale paper pattern provided, you. Can just mount the bedside and use it as the pattern for the other holes... If I can do it by myself, anybody can do it with a buddy. And I think you can cut the wheel well opening out all the way up to the bedside armor basically. Up to the body seam. If anybody has done it and it didn't work, let us know... I'll mess with flares tonight. I'm ordering a mini press break tonight so I can bend the flares myself at home.- 197 replies

I thought about just bending the flat part out if 1/8" and welding just it on with some gussets. Since I'll have to bend/roll the flat part anyways to follow the tube radii- 197 replies

Yep! I did those like a month ago before I had the metal sides formed. Not sure if I'm going to use round tubing or not. Might need some ideas here...- 197 replies

O ya, I've thought about this idea. Shelbyluvv on here wanted me to build him a hitch mounted carrier at one point that he could switch between vehicles- 197 replies

They are ugly but are a DRL and the lows and brights both look really bright but not sure if any brighter than my halogen setup -

Yes, unfortunately... Perfect time too, NOT. fuel pump went out in my sisters xj so gotta fix that too. Plus it's cold and snowy here and I don't wanna have to heat my shop that long. Blah!

My square tube bumpers could possibly hold a tire carrier. Not sure what you mean by flipping down instead of swinging it open. I can see one or the other but not both in one...- 197 replies

My ax15 is holding up well behind my cummins. And the tdi is less power and torque -
So the mj broke down this morning and the xj had to haul her home... I've got no clutch. Might be slave cylinder. Didn't look into it much today. The xj didn't have to haul it, I've got the '16 cummins for that but we thought we might have to winch the mj on with the xj 's winch... First time I've had to trailer it home.

It has been extremely cold here and I haven't wanted to heat the shop.Plus I'm waiting to get the bedsides bent at work on the press brake. The flares will be close to the hooligan flares but not quite. I don't think...haven't been able to do any actual tubing bending. The hooligan front flares go about 2 inches lower on the body than mine will. They'll be about the same as the xj rears. And I'm still trying to figure out nutserts for mounting them. The bottom quarter panel armor is almost figured out though... Same Here. -38 on saturday and never got above 0 for the last 4 days. The whole bedside would be good, but spendy to ship i would think. I'm thinking almost just a half bed from the fuel filler rearwards.Good thing I planned ahead for half sides and had a line laser etched on it and bolt holes for mounting a half [emoji6]- 197 replies
