  1. So driving to work a couple weeks ago my truck all of a sudden started pulling HARD to the right. And then when braking it pulled really hard to the left. It also took a bunch of gas to get moving. Once I got to work I immediately realized my right caliper had locked up (smelt horrible) so I rode home with my brother and was going to deal with it the next day. Then when I got in the Jeep the next day everything was fine! Checked the caliper and all and it was good! Drove for a couple weeks and until today everything was fine. Driving today I all of a sudden got a weird wobble in the front end. Then BOOM my truck goes nuts in the middle of the road wobbling. Once I get pulled over and settled down I head back out to limp home. After the major wobble the caliper locked up again! And there was a squeaking noise coming from the left side for a little bit. What do I need to change? I was thinking For the wobble; tires rotated, balanced, possible front alignment. For the brakes; calipers and rubber lines. The squeaking; hubs?
  2. You guys got to it before I did :D I'm 100% against car payments. I'm trying to get through life without ever having one. Being only 20 as of Thursday I would end up paying just as much for insurance as I would for a car payment. With full coverage on my Jeep and comprehension on my 2000 model Contour I only pay 130/month. I'm so good mechanically that I choose vehicles that I KNOW I could easily fix almost anything on. That's why I love my brothers Civic and my sisters Sentra. Those little 1.6l engines are easy to maneuver around. Plus I don't trust the reliability of new cars. I feel they're made to break down as soon as you're out of warranty...
  3. I'm building a list of manual cars that I'm on the lookout for to buy if I see a good deal turn up (just as reliable gas savers). It now consists of Honda Civic Chevy Cobalt (friend has one that is SUPER sharp) Nissan Sentra Toyota Corolla Maybe a Ford Escort. The 2.0 engines just haven't impressed me with my Contour though.
  4. I have to say... I have NEVER seen one of those before. But I am now in love. That car is SEXY. It's added to my list for sure. Driving my Jeep home from work today I realized there is a lot of stuff I could use that money on for the Jeep. Including getting the gas mileage up and the engine running perfectly. I think I'll take ya'lls advice and fix up the vehicles I have instead of getting another one. But if I find a nice steal for around 1000$ I'll probably grab it cause I like having extra cars :D
  5. I did forget to add that I was looking to spend 3-4000. Sorry :D I've considered keeping the Contour for longer. But, it has 210k miles on it, no heat or AC, leaks oil, and the interior is trashed. Also only is getting about 25 MPG or so. I miss driving a stickshift is the main reason I'm searching for another car again. Theres been a couple REALLY nice Miatas for 3500$ lately but I don't have the money currently. The more I think about it the more I see the Miata being the best option even with the gas mileage not being the best. I might do like ya'll are suggesting and keep the Contour for another year and fix it up a little bit and toss the rest towards my Jeeps. If a nice stickshift Civic or Sentra popped up then my Contour would be gone in a hearbeat.

  7. Howdy guys. With tax season coming up I'm planning to buy another car and get rid of my Contour (it is boring and sucks.). I'm wanting something fun to drive that gets good mileage but also can be customized. Planning for it to be stickshift. Initially I was planning to get a Miata NA (the first gen) but upon research they don't get fantastic gas mileage. Ranging anywhere from 19-30 from what I read. I still plan to buy a Miata one day. But I really could use something great on gas right now. I prefer early to pre 2000's due to the simplicity of working on them and the body styles. But I have no idea what type of car to look for... Honda Del Sol's peak my interest a good bit because of how they look and my brothers Civic gets amazing gas mileage. Something I love about the Miata is that it's RWD instead of FWD. I don't know. Just don't know much about car types. Opinions or suggestions? Thanks in advance! :D
  8. How did you mount it? In other news, my wife has approved the purchase of a 3D printer if there is any tax return leftover after Jeep repairs.... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Just an L-bracket that I made out of some sheet metal I had laying around. Then 3 short self-drilling screws and I notched the dash panel in front of the cluster for the wire to run up behind.
  9. Fab'd up a mount to put it there. Super nice :D
  10. Mine came in today as well. Haven't gotten to play with it yet but I already love it just from reading the manual
  11. I just got a set from him. Nice. He even includes a diagram. they're very nice. I didn't get a diagram, but it's pretty self explanatory. Just gotta get them installed now.
  12. On my other MJ I used an aftermarket harness with a factory switch. Just had to crimp on female spade terminals and connect them to the factory switch.
  13. On the highway at 60-65 mph you should be able to get 23/24 mpg. First thing to check is you tires - make sure you have 32-35 psi all the way around. At that 60-65 mph my H.O./AW4 can get 23/24 if I keep the speed closer to 55/60 - I can manage 26 mpg. The Renix should be a bit better. I actually did just fill my tires last week because they were at 27 PSI with one of them at 22. Filled them to 33 each and noticed a slight increase in mileage this week. I would LOVE to see low 20's in this Jeep.
  14. I'm getting 16-18 mixed driving with my 2wd/auto/4.0. It's not the worst, but I know I could push 20 out of it if I get everything perfect. And that's with cruising at 60-65
  15. I could hug you just for letting me in on the fact that this exists... I've been wanting to be able to monitor my Renix's since I got them. Now I can start knocking out whatever is making my gas mileage slightly low
  16. I'm very excited for him to make one that monitors the AW4 on top of monitoring the engine
  17. Message him on Facebook. I did and he had 3 left. Now he has 2 left because one is coming my way! :D
  18. Does this do pretty much everything that the rare scan tool does?
  19. Gadsden got almost nothing. I had to drive to work for an overnight last night at 9pm when the "snow" was coming down and I didn't slip or worry at all
  20. The front hitch I have uses the 2 (per side) sway bar mounts and you have to drill a 1/2" hole on both sides for a big bolt to finish the mounting proccess. Came with new grade 8 hardware, as well. It's a Reese.
  21. means a lot coming from you, sir! The student has to start teaching eventually, eh? :D
  22. thanks! :D I still remember when it happened... I didn't even put it in park before I jumped out and turned my flashlight on to look at the damage. I was heartbroken when I first saw it. Crazy thing is the new red body panel is damaged now because an incident at a gas station two weeks ago!
  23. I'll hopefully get to mess with it tomorrow or Tuesday. I'm going to run seafoam through the TB and fuel system and see if I get anything from it. Sadly another car has broken down in my family... my idiot brother decided to not check his oil and his POS Mercury seems to be knocking now. Never ends.
