  1. If you want my opinion, since it seems to me that you don't really want to keep it and work on it, please PLEASE try to make sure it finds a good home where it will be cherished and not flogged mercilessly into the ground. MJ mistreatment is a horrific tragedy. MJs can be pretty temperamental but when they're running strong as a result of your hard work, there's nothing like that feeling.
  2. I might have to sign up for this. No doubt I have plenty of pics of my MJ.
  3. Wait... there's more than two still out there? (assuming you've come upon a 91-92 SporTruck) No major difference with a 92, except for all of the drool all over it once the owner makes it known. Bonus points for a 92 build date, especially toward the end of the model year.
  4. Silly phone. Double post.
  5. If I were to guess, probably 6 or 7. I have only seen one twice though. Most are in passable shape, but of course I want to believe mine's the nicest.

    New Mj Freebee

Great truck. I would recommend staying friends with him. Keep us updated!
  7. Just wondering, how did the engine explode in something so young? Sorry I can't help, the only Chrysler product I know anything about is my MJ. Good luck though!

    :agree: But nice one Jim.
  9. While it is a testament to the nigh-immortality of our trucks, I think the perpetrators should be round up and shot. The least they could have done was grab a Nissan or Toyota, I know not many here would miss it. Hell, even a Chevy maybe.
  10. I want to say that having the gear indicator on the column is a modification. Not entirely sure about 86s though. Apparently a similar column is used on GM trucks. I do know column shift XJs are rare though. Really sucks that someone had to come mess your truck up, but sorry I can't help more.
  11. The other guys have it. The cab and frame are permanently connected. It's supposed to make the frame strong (and an MJ unibody is rather strong) but it's a pain sometimes. I would just cut off the parts I needed and welded them to my truck.

    That color looks remarkably familiar...

Looks pretty darn good for close as makes no difference 300k.
  14. Seeing all this footage of new MJs is killing me. Makes me want to go out and spend money that doesn't exist making mine look like the ones in the video! :fs1: Some day... 80s Jeep advertising is the best. P.S. I think this stuff needs to be stickied for all to see forever.
  15. Looks almost like it came out of a factory. I'd kill to get a good look at it. If they would have made these 20 years ago the MJ would've been quite a bit more popular, I think.
  16. Hey MJ as first vehicle buddy! :MJ 1: XJ is the boxy Cherokee made from 1984 to 2001. It's the basis for our trucks. MJ is the Comanche, the subject of this forum. Made from 1985 (86 model year) to 1992. Here is a link with a long list of acronyms us Jeep people use commonly : http://comancheclub....12163-acronyms/

    Faaaaack!!!!

Glad you got the Prius good. And yeah I agree the bumper did its job, the OEM one bends fairly easy. Found something that might interest you if you want stock. A company called Fey makes bumpers for the Comanche. http://www.partsgeek.com/mmparts/step_bumper/jeep/comanche.html They're apparently pretty strong. Might have to grab one myself.

    Faaaaack!!!!

MJ rear bumpers are really rare. Not terribly strong either, as you have seen. I'd say your best bet is to get a good strong steel one made. I imagine you could get it made to look like an original one for not a terribly huge sum.
  19. Surprisingly, some employees at my local Auto-Zone actually know what they're talking about. Guess I'm lucky. I guess the general consensus is that most autozones are just awful period?
  20. Got a new air filter, cleaned out the airbox, cleared my CCV lines, painted my valve cover (stripes :rock on: ) found my original oil cap, and took a couple pictures!
  21. You're all wrong. It does have 235 HP. That sticker, you see it? 10 HP. And don't you all know that torque = horsepower? :rotfl2: Stupid salespeople.
  22. That's a great looking Pioneer. I believe it's the lighting making the right side not look right. If it's just sitting there you might have to just completely accidentally hit it with a tow dolly. :brows:
  23. That's definitely a Bf 109, probably an F model, can't be sure. Great little 'jeep', I wonder how long it takes that thing to get to 60. I for sure wouldn't be in it if it ever did much more than 30.
  24. The black interior is beautiful and rare. As Remi said, you can use the door panels obviously if it's a 4 door XJ. If it's a two door XJ, the seats fold forward and will fit into your MJ with some modifications. The dash etc will swap over, but it's a difficult and involved process. Whether or not you can use the instrument cluster depends on the year of your truck and what engine you have. 91 and 92 have fully electronic speedometers rather than a cable speedometer, so the 87-90 style cable clusters won't work. If your truck is 87-90 you will be fine. The act of actually swapping the cluster is simple, but swapping a 4 cylinder tach into a 6 cylinder Jeep or vice versa will make it read incorrectly, either 2/3rd or 3/2 of the actual RPM rate of the engine depending on the discrepancy between the donor's engine and yours. The clusters can be modified to read correctly, but I'm not sure how it's done. If you end up not wanting to do the swap, get the stuff anyway and sell it. Someone's bound to want to pay for it.
