Just make sure you avoid the cheap stuff. I bought a sub $25 CPS once. 800 miles later, I was under it again.

- Finally took care of the surface rust on (and primed) the top of my tailgate after almost a year. - Hauled a couple hundred lbs of mulch in my funny looking tailgate-less MJ while the above primer was drying. - Pulled off the taillights to do a good thorough polish job on them. - Fixed blow-by. Again.

I don't think I'll have to take the TC off, it's only been rubbing for a couple days. Doesn't look fun to get to.

Have you checked your fuel pressure? In the case of stalling and/or rough running, that's a good place to start. How old is the fuel filter? Bizarre that it runs fine after warming up for a bit.

The 30RH aka the TorqueFlite A904 was used on the early automatic 2.5/2.8 XJs before the AW4 came along in 87 so I would look for a solution there. If it doesn't have grooves for a CPS, it's the wrong part unless it uses some other method for a CPS reading for some reason. Otherwise, I don't have any idea because I've never had any experience with the super early models. Hope you get this sorted out :thumbsup:

Definitely the HB. The rubber holding it together is worn out and the pulley half is maybe 1/16 of an inch off the timing cover when cold and it's scraping the timing cover when it warms up. Thanks, guys.

That does appear to be an A/C compressor there. I'm doubting it 'just needs a recharge' because I don't trust craigslist ads, especially if the seller can't look on the side of the %#$! truck they're trying to sell.

Oh wow you don't see that package very often, especially on a 92 but that paint is obviously past the point of saving. I'd say $1500 for it if it ran and shifted very well and the panels all lined up. Paint's gone but otherwise looks saveable.

The AC compressor is hooked up, it's just a weird angle. I listened real close with the hood closed and the center of the noise is right by the HB. Thanks for the hose suggestion! The flexplate sounds fine but 3' of heater line is a whole lot better than a screwdriver, for sure. Thanks a bunch, guys. I'll take everything apart to see about that harmonic balancer later this week. Looks pretty tight even with the mech fan off.

Didn't change a bit. Next time I'll get the chance I'll take the belt off and run it to see and I'll also try turning the engine over by hand and see if I can hear it. I can pretty much confirm that the appearance of the noise is directly connected to the engine temperature. Coolant reservoir is full. Checked the shroud, no scuff marks or anything on it. I can also rotate the fan by hand and it has plenty of clearance with the shroud.

:agree: the non-adjustable 22 year old bench in my truck is more comfortable than a whole lot of fully adjustable heated leather seats I've sat in. Nothing to catch on fire or break under it to boot. The stereo ain't bad either.
