Another tire size Question

I thought Grizzly Wheels were 15x7s? -
stumped, OBD-II MJ issuses
shelbyluvv replied to shelbyluvv's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It was as suspected. The fuse panel was bad. No outward signs of damage to be seen. It must have an internal fault. Thanks for all the help Akula69. -
Another tire size Question

I like the Cooper ATPs. A tad cheaper than the AT3s and have a slightly more aggressive shoulder. -
Cummins B3.3 Powered Mj Build!
shelbyluvv replied to krustyballer16's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
CRusty's sells junk. I have tried to warn people about it. If he warranties it, it's a miracle. His usual MO is operator error, sorry. Your truck is looking beautiful! I'm jealous- 299 replies

Hell yeah! I bet you thought getting those chrome pieces would be easy. I'm glad to see you finally got them though. -
stumped, OBD-II MJ issuses
shelbyluvv replied to shelbyluvv's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I tried that as well. I removed every wire, fuse, relay and plug on the fuse panel and checked for corrosion. I can't find any. It may be a internal issue with the panel. I love electrical issues. They really make you think. I appreciate all of your suggestions and think you hit it on the head with the antenna lead dripping water onto the panel. -
Quick Question: Upper Control Arms, WJ?

stumped, OBD-II MJ issuses
shelbyluvv replied to shelbyluvv's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I cleaned up the thread to keep it on track. I have checked all the usual suspects, grounds, chaffed wires, clock spring, relays, etc... I'll check the SKIM as well. I think I have it narrowed down to the actual fuse panel on the passenger kick panel. I have a spare one that I am going to swap in tonight after work. It ran great this morning too. -
This morning my check engine light came on when I started it. Ran crappy but made it to work. Came out at lunchtime and as soon as I got to the truck the horn started blowing. I unplugged them and went to lunch. Changed the TPS at lunch and pulled the horn relay. Check engine light went off. Now the fun part. As soon as I plug the horn relay in it shuts the truck off and throws a TPS code. Pull relay, reset code and runs fine. I disconnected the horn button, air bag and cruise buttons from the steering wheel. Plug in horn relay and shuts her down and TPS code is back. We had a pretty bad storm last night but I didn't drive the truck. What in the world is causing this mess?
-
Today in the wonderful world of Onyx the check engine light popped on when I started her. Seems the TPS went bad. Because you can never have a simple problem the horn won't shut off. I replaced the TPS and reset the code. For the horn I pulled the relay. The weird part is if I plug the horn relay in the engine runs rough for a second. I'll pull the fuse panel out of the passenger footwell and check it for wetness and corrosion. It rained like hell here last night so I think something got wet.

Swap 98 GC 5.9L and drive train
shelbyluvv replied to deziped1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There's a couple of us who have done the Magnum swaps. I have a 5.2 in my 86. The wiring is the biggest hurdle. With your donor being a 98 I would do a 97+ dash conversion to make the wiring a lot easier. -
Build your own kit. There is a pretty good parts list in the DIY section.

I did the same thing with a 80s Z28. Except I fired it up after I paid the guy $500 and drove it on the trailer.
-
With all the issues I've read about people having with General Spring (height, center pins) I'm glad I went with Hell Creek.

stock gear ratios for '86 2.8 5spd 4x4?
shelbyluvv replied to shawn's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My 86 had a 2.5 with a AX-5 with 3:07 gears. It's best you check them for yourself to be sure. -
You are not going to go very far with a 2wd. Get on Southern Jeeps forum and ask them for the waterfall and fish hatchery routes. There are some good trails in the north Georgia mountains that you can take a 2wd on.

If it was a AMC 20 or a Dana 44 I would grind the bolt down. For a 35 I would just open the perch up. It's not a great axle and to me not worth the extra effort to tear apart a brand new leaf pack.
-
I'm not sure what you are trying to explain. Post a pic so we can visualize it with you. I think what you are saying is the alignment pin is not ligned up with the hole in the perch. The old springs are worn in and your bushings have worn also. Do NOT tighten any suspension bolts until the weight of the vehicle is on the springs. Ubolts need to be snug to hold the axle in place until it is sat on the ground.
-
Drill them out. You'll never replace the leaf pack again, more than likely.

At one time there was a fun little trail in Canton called Sweetwater. I want to say it was near Holcomb Bridge RD. There is a great group of guys up there that I used to run with. Look up www.southernjeeps.org and get in touch with Lucas. He lives in that area.

This is what is required to get the truck you want and have it be YOUR truck.
