  1. I could not get any work done to the truck this weekend. I found out Friday afternoon I have to go out of town for a week Monday. We are going camping next weekend so this news caused me to start packing the camper. Saturday morning when we popped it up we discovered the A/C unit was leaking rain water inside onto the beds. I took the A/C off and found a crack in the roof under the unit. I cut the cracked area out and replaced it and sealed everything back up. That took all day to finish. I walk outside this morning to start working on the truck and hear thunder. That's odd, it ain't sposed to rain today. Lets just say it is pouring right now and I don't think it is going to stop anytime soon. Looks like it will be a few more weeks until I get time to wrench on the truck.
  2. It is best to keep the donor around until the dash and wiring swap is done. I made a lot of trips back and forth with a tape measure. Pick away! I will give you every bit of info I can remember. They are the pieces that locate the steering column. You will need to cut all the stock brackets out of the MJ. The brake booster will hold the XJs bracket in place. The XJ steering shaft is located about 1 1/2" lower than the MJs. That hole needs to be modified as well. The bulkhead connector hole will not be re-used with the XJs wiring. The XJ has an oval hole and this hole needs to be addresed. I cut that section of firewall out of the XJ and layed it over the MJs firewall. I beat and gound until it fit flush. I then took a sharp awl and scratched the new location into the firewall using the XJs plate as a template. I then cut the holes accordingly and re-installed the plate over my firewall and sealed it up. I used the stock parts that I cut out of the MJ to make my brackets. I just trimmed what I needed and used the little clips to hold evrything together. I will have the dash out this weekend (hopefully) to finish the HVAC swap and I will snap some pics for you to give you a better idea of what I am talking about. Nothing stayed in place from the MJ. All the studs and holes are different. It was all trial and error. They are always for sale down south cheap and rust free. It may be a good idea to find one down here and tow it home.
  3. See my build thread, around page 10 or so. I used a TJ pump and modified it. This required me to use a TJ cluster to get the values to be the same. This can be done using a 97+ XJ pump while retaining the factory cluster. Live and learn I guess!
  4. I have not had much time to work on the truck. I did get 90% of the drive train painted and detailed. I should have some time this weekend to hopefully install the engine harness, heater box and the drive train. I'll see how the weekend plays out. It is supposed to rain and that does not help my cause one bit.
  5. They are different. When I tore my truck down the seat belts did not work. The mechanisms were full of lint and gunk. I cleaned them up and they worked like new.
  6. looks good. Do all the gauges work? Did you do the OBDII wiring swap as well?
  7. Someone go get the harness from Pat's place and box it up. I will pay to have it shipped to LotGoD's place. I also suggest that Pat be banned from ever selling on this board again. Once is an opps. Twice is just plain wrong. Pat if you have plans to make this right than let them be known. Pete I think I hear the Band warming up!
  8. Pete the tow bar left with the XJ. The guy who took the carcass took it just for the tow bar. Sorry man I needed the pile out of my yard
  9. I would like to do a meet and greet around the Atlanta area. There are a slew of us here and it is time we all get together and talk trucks! Where would we like to meet at? Who would come? When is a good date to set it up for? Post up if your interested and we can get this thing going!
  10. I have one that would let your quad fit in the bed of the truck. I will not be using it. If you are interested in it PM. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15460
  11. UPDATE: Pete is at the airport in SLC and will be home later tonight. They (WFC) got the parts for the truck and are thrashing to get it running and through tech before Speed Week ends. On a more important note, WFC (Peter) was taken to the hospital with pneumonia and was not released at the time I talked to (our) Pete. Keep your fingers crossed for his speedy recovery. The God Father did watch a SBC powered MJ run. It posted a top speed of 175MPH. They were going to work on the front spoiler and try to crack the 185 MPH (or faster) mark! Pete will have pics up loaded in a day or so after he gets some sleep. That is all for now.
  12. I was wondering where you got off to. Congrats man!
  13. I just got off the phone with Pete. He made it out to the salt and is doing good. He is living in a tent about five miles from the salt, but he is close to a gas station so he can take showers and get food and water as he needs it. He is thumbing rides to and from the flats. HE IS HAVING A BLAST! He is also planning his trip for next year! The WFC on the other hand is not doing so well. They blew the remote oil filter adapter on a dyno pull yesterday. In true Jeeper spirit they loaded the trailer and drove straight through the night to get to the flats. They are still waiting for the part to arrive out there so they can hang it and get the truck through tech. There is another truck racing in the same class as the WFC. Pete is unsure of the make but it is not a MJ. As I get more info from Pete I will let ya'll know!
  14. I would stay away from that one. That clockspring is probably shot and it will cost you $$$$ for a new one. They are really hard to find used too. I would look for a nicer one to get for a donor. You want one that runs and drives so you know everything in the wiring is good.
  15. I've got two intakes - one from a '00 Cherokee and another from an '01 Cherokee and both are made of aluminum. my 97 intake is aluminum as well. The intakes on my Durango and Grand are both plastic but they also have 4.7 V8s in them. I have never seen a 4.0 with a plastic intake?
  16. 89 MJ with all 97+ XJ dash and 98 ZJ seats.
  17. stock Rubi Moabs.
  18. V8 ZJ steering linkages are not the same as an X/MJ. The V8 ZJ steering is solid where the X/MJ is hollow. Any year ZJ with the V8 will be a bolt in upgrade for your stock stuff.
  19. Read this thread http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=17757 I posted something on JU when someone did the math on how much money they would save in gas over the life of owning their new gas saver. Basically, they forgot to add in the monthly payments, insurance increase, and the tax on tags. It came out to $295 a month in just payments (without anything else mentioned above) minus intrest for 48 months. That is roughly $3600 a year. There is no way possible you can sink $3600 a year into a MJ just to keep it running for the 48 months of new car payments. Maybe if you restore it every year. This program is a joke.

:rotfl2: :rotf: :rotfl2: :rotf: Even though shelbyluvv deleted the rest of this, its still funny. Rob L. I did not delete anything. That was a joke on me I guess?

I can't see the need for a banning of anyone yet. If the situation is not resolved in a timely fashion then possibly a time out is in order. The ONLY person who can ban anyone is Pete. I understand that it has been 9 months or so but, this is the first I am hearing about it, I can't speak for the the other Mods or Pete. They may have been privvy to the info. :hmm: If Pat was the all out shiester that ya'll have been making him out to be, there would be other times he has screwed someone over and it would have come out long before this. MJDriver and JeepComj need to come up with a timeline for repayment. Things happen to everyone at some point in time that can make a bad situation worse. It just so happens to be Pat's time.

Fellas, let's not turn this into a bashing or flaming Pat post. I think he has gotten the point. You bash others for what you are doing... Pay your debt. Ok, he as well as the rest of us got it. I will leave this post open as long as it can stay somewhat dignified. MINI BEAST, Consider this a warning to you and everyone else that thinks they can skirt the language filter. DO NOT USE PROFANITY ON THIS BOARD.
  23. The bar broke right where the bushing sleeve was welded to the track bar. Their weld failed and they said something about it being loose and causing DW . Which in turn stressed the weld making it break. I never had DW with the Jeep and there was ZERO warning it was going to let go. I value Pat's "opinion" more than most others here. He is not one to put out bogus info or be a specific manufacture fan boy. He builds some really good stuff and it works very well. There is a reason why people don't use stuff from certain places. History doesn't lie. Want some good reading? Follow Rockkrawlers history from their early years until Jeremy and Heather took it over a few years ago. You can watch the tides turn from them being one of the scariest lift companies out there to one of the better ones. That comes from listening to their customers and fixing what was wrong with their stuff. I am happy to say that I had a pretty big hand in the design and testing of their Gen II LA arm kit. I talked them into doing away with their Krawler shackles (Revolver style), the weld on front upper arm mount (very unsafe) which moved the mount to the drivers side upper control arm axle mount. That mount had 2 bolts in the early stages and it kept breaking. I had them send me 4 bolts and redrilled the mount and never had a failure again. My design is now used with all their kits. Your money is best spent with a trusted company. I personally would never let my wife drive anything with a RRO kit on it. But that too is your choice.
  24. You want real world info. Here you go. I ran a RE drop kit on my XJ for a few years. I liked the way they let me slowly work into the real world of wheeling. It was a step in the right direction to get a better ride on 6.5" of lift. It rode decent and flexed OK. I finally out grew the DBs and moved on to a RK 3 link. I loved everything about that kit. I beat on it and it took everything I could throw at it. It rode like a Caddy and flexed like a beast! I had one monster of a XJ then. The DBs were no where near as good a my long arms. I would bang the DBs and grind them into rocks where the LAs would just slide over them. I used my lower links as sliders more than my rails. Will I run DBs again? Yep, on my wife's MJ "Onyx" which will be a street queen. I used them to save cash and give her a better ride on 4.5" of lift. Will I run them on a trail rig? Not a chance, period. I will continue to run LAs on all my trail rigs. And finally some first hand info about RRO. Glen Wakefield is crook. They sell junk to novice wheelers and prey on inexperience. I have used RRO only once and it almost cost me my life and my XJ. I bought their ADJ TB and put it on my XJ to get me going after my first 4.5" lift. The TB snapped on the axle side going down the highway at 65 mph. It caused me to run off the road and bury it in a ditch. I got lucky that the Jeep nor me was hurt in the "accident". I called RRO and they said I had installed it wrong and that it was not a warranty issue. Did I not mention that the TB was only a week old! It was installed fine. I have been a mech for 18 years and think I can handle a simple bolt on part! Do as you want but do not ever come here crying about their junk not fitting or breaking. I feel the same about RRO as I do Rusty's. You have been warned numerous times...
