  1. Ran across a o/h console from a 93 XJ last weekend that "looked" longer than the one in the picture. So Question for onlyinajeep726: Did you cut the length of the console? I have seen DIY articles on installing the long o/h console in the MJ, but that involved cutting the length and trimming the angle to fit the MJ roof line. If you only trimmed the angle to fit the roof line - this is a much easier process. And it would be a SUPER DIY post. Hint, hint.
  2. Call JCRoffroad and ask them? I called them with a question a month ago. Want to say they said bumper was 5 inches high. But you need the inside measurement of the bumper too (I think).
  3. You have a P.M.
  4. What color sun visor are you looking for? Can not help on roll bar.
  5. Looks like you have a bad thermostat or bad temp sensor. My money is on a bad thermosta. Probably want to replace it and the water pump at the same time.
  6. I really would not put too much faith in the number of miles the odometer says. This is NOT an original truck in any sense of the word. Perhaps well taken care of, but it has been at the very least "pimped" to market at a fat price. 26 year old truck that does not leak a drop of oil??? How many tubes or RTV will that take?
  7. Contact member johnnyc, he had one 6 weeks ago still not installed. Johnny may be willing to sell it.
  8. Who said "There is no such thing as bad publicity." Lots of Dilbert readers will be wondering just what a "Comanche" is and how do they get restored. At least a dozen new ComancheClub members in the next 6 months because of this. AND 30 more trucks sold!!
  9. One thing you might want to consider: Dodge Dakota bench 60/40 seat with a fold down center console. Some of the full size Ram trucks had bench seats with very near buckets on each side and a neat fold down console in the center seat position. There is one or two posts in the DIY section if you look for "Dakota seat" or something close to that. I got rid of the stock bench seat and currently have Laredo buckets with matching door panels. Nothing in the center right now. Did find a full Comanche center console with the factory plastic block for the Cherokee parking brake. Still have to figure out what to do with the floor gear shift space. So I will be interested in your solution. Have to say the Laredo buckets are not really the most comfortable for me. The "wings" on the seat back just do not fit my back very well. So I am experimenting with a pair of buckets from a 94 Grand Cherokee. They will not look as good with the rest of the Laredo interior, but on the few times I take the Comanche for a long drive they just might be a bit more comfortable. One more thing I want to look at the Lexus or Infinity interiors for some possible Ideas. The bucket seats in Anita's 2003 Camry are fine on a 1200 mile drive. So I think the Lexus seats would be comfortable. There is a whole lot to be said about the durability of the old Toyota Camry seat material. The interior of my father's old 89 Camry still looks good today, inspite of 6 or 7 years of neglect has heaped on it. Sorry for the thread hijack.
  10. "Just gotta know what to look for." That is the key isn't it? Problem is most people don't know what to look for - including some who think they know what to look for. Net result - poorly repaired cars being passed of to innocent buyers as something they are not. So now we have laws that brand salvaged titles on some more cars than perhaps should be branded. This includes my truck that had $2500 worth of damage when it was sideswiped. Replacement door, fender and some sheet metal work on the bed and a new paint job for $2800 give me a better truck than I could have purchased for $2500. But if you have ever seen pictures of repaired cars broken in half in a new accident you will understand why most people just do not want to take the chance with a badly repaired car. Hence the salvage title has a very low demand and only at a much discounted price. Do I want to buy a salvage title truck from somebody on Craigslist? Not unless it were just for parts and then only at a big discount.
  11. VIN# 1J7FT26S2NL107544 Year first sold 1991, Mod year 1992 2 wheel drive 5 speed transmission Dana 44 rear end. no metric ton - 3 leaf springs plus 1 overload. Hand brake gone. 4.0 engine and trans still there.
  12. Mid to late 1987 to 1990. Early 1987 AMC had different Tach and Speedo face. The tach started at 8:00 and had white letters. 1991 went to white plastic and the electronic speedo. 4 or 6 cylinder, I can not say.
  13. Dave, Gas tanks are always removed before the cars hit the yard. Gas is drained properly and tanks are scrapped before they hit the yard.
  14. Found a 92 Comanche in a J.Y. today with a frame mounted trailer hitch like I have not seen before. This hitch was bolted to the bottom of the frame rails like on the WJ. Not to the bumper mount points like a normal Comanche. Also the cross tube was rectangular rather than the normal square tubing. Finally the receiver tube had been welded to the stock MJ bumper where it was normally bolted. Unable to remove the hitch because the bolts were just spinning (nuts not holding in place in the frame tube. Any thoughts on how I can get this off with hand tools in the Junk Yard? I did get a straight tail gate off the truck. I left a solid one piece rear window and a bench seat in the truck. Did have a 5 speed attached to the 4.0. Some Gray interior plastic and B pillar lights were left. Bed is trash. Also scored a windshield washer bottle and pump from a 97 Cherokee that will replace the leaking windshield washer on my 91 Comanche
  15. I know where there's another. :peek: Neohic - another Wildernest or another long bed trailer?
  16. Pete, I like the long bed trailer with the normal springs under the axle. There is a short bed (I think) trailer for sale in Calif that has the truck bed raised. Don't think it looks as good, even with the bent up bumper.
  17. California truck, that is normal here. Looks like a short bed to me.
  18. Auto Club membership is worth the money when you drive old cars. Actually, it is worth the money when you avoid one trip to the DMV!!
  19. This has been for sale for a long time. My guess is it will still be for sale in another 10 years.
  20. These are not mine!!! I am not the John in this ad. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/pts/4679125412.html
  21. Don, do you have a price for the shock?
  22. If "someone" were able to take the time, pictures, measurements of what is correct for each year and send it to the vendor with an offer to purchase the correct decals, the seller may be able to come up with the exact product. But it will take someone giving him the correct information and showing him there is some small maket for the revised product. Till then, I have to think some people will just take what ever they can get that is close and others will just do without the correct piece.
  23. Send him a note, he may be able to get you black. Just have to let vendors know there is a market. Can not hurt.
  24. There is a wiring write up in the DIY section. The same write up was in JP magazine 3 or 4 years ago. The CC member was in Orange County, can not remember the name right now.
  25. Greedy seller. They got a nice price. Guess that seller does not really want to sell at market value.
