Kinda weird, but I guess it could have been a problem on my end. The strange thing is that I was able to access any other site I wanted except this one  Oh well...it works now :D
-
It was earlier...definitely before noon, but the last time I tried was around 12:30 (EST ;) ) and it was still not working. Just got that white page that says the site can't be found...

I was unable to access the site for about 3 hours today...

That's what I told a guy at work the other day when he was crying about gas ;) :D We adjust - we get used to it and we move on. It's not going to get any better so why sweat it...just deal with it :brows: .

Have at it dude! :brows: ;) http://www.motionoffroad.com/catalog/ You can find all you need here... http://motionoffroad.com/catalog/index. ... ducts_id=4

Thanks Eagle  ;) We "parts gurus" depend on the technicians to know all that kind of stuff and just come to us with requests for the correct parts. I was a tech back in the '80's, but I did not do major engine work so I never learned all that kind of detail...or if I did, I forgot it by now since I left the tech jobs back in 1989 :brows: .

I will look and see next chance I get, but it may take a couple days. Should it be a code that I will recognize as indicating that fact or will it be some obscure code that I have to decipher through means that I don't know exist yet?

Yep...it's Proto-Fab. I was real happy with the way it's built, but it does not come with the frame tie ins to actually support the use of a winch. I don't intend to ever use a winch on it, but I will be putting one on it for looks as it looks silly without one right now. Just need to find a cheap one that still looks good ;)

OK...I finally addressed the oil pressure issue that I disovered the other day. The engine was running fine, but the oil pressure guage has never worked since I swapped in the full cluster. I decided to get a manual guage and check the pressure for the hell of it...and found it was bad. I ordered the rod bearings and an oil pump per the advice of our engine guy at the dealership. He said that the main bearings are rarely a problem and not to worry about them. Well...fast forward to today... We dropped the oil pan and got a look at the rod bearings off of #1 & #6 to start with. Both had some minor scarring on the crank and the bearings were definitely worn. Since it was a little worse than we anticipated, we decided to look at the mains...and guess what...they are in bad shape too. The rod bearing had to be ordered so I knew I was in for a battle finding the mains for a same day job, but I found some and had them within about 3.5 hours. Things get worse... We took the old bearings out and as we took a good look at them, we saw a little .010 stamped in the side. That's right...the crank has been changed previously and it is a .010 over crank so know I am off to try and find a full set of rods & mains to fit this crank. I finally found some after about 1.5 hours of searching and got them back to the shop at about 4:30 this afternoon. The engine was re-assembled and back on the road by 6:30 tonight :D The oil pressure is now running at 60 lbs at idle since everything is nice & tight, but will come down after just a little break in time. As I said above...it was at 12 lbs at idle prior to doing this job and would not go above 40 at any RPM. Now I just have to get my OP guage working so I can monitor it properly. I have a new guage...just need to get it installed ;) . I was going to make a DIY post out of this project, but due to Murphy's Law...I did not get to take but a couple pics and those are in my camera which is still at the dealership... . What a day... :brows: The one good thing that happened was that I found the set of bearings that we ended up using in Clevite 77 for $100 for the full set of rods & mains. The others (standards from Federal Mogul) cost me $150.

I believe Motions kit is complete with shocks where the RE kit does not come with shocks. As far as I know, Motions kit is very good quality as I know that they get their components made by reoutable manufactures. The SYE kit may be required if you have trouble with driveline vibration after lifting it, but it's not real likely on an MJ ;) .

32's would definitely go on it, but I am sure there will be a little rubbing as the 31's are very close to the lower control arms on full lock turning.

Somebody needs to help the poor thing... :brows: Someone up there buy it and bring it back to the fold :D

Nice rig  . Those bumper laws make things a bit tough, but that can be overlooked for the purpose. People like this just have no clue... The tires on it are perfect...why would you want to "stuff" more tire in there.

Thanks... Yes...it is listed as the XJ kit. I used the Add-a-Leaf that came with it for a short time until I got the Hell Creek Springs in. AAL's are no fun...VERY hard ride. I am running 31x10.50 Swamper TrXus Radial MT's.

AHHHH... it was the AT that got the 4.56. Thanks Pete... I know a lot about the mechanical workings of Jeeps, but I am still a bit rusty on the configurations on that type of stuff for the MJ. I know Wranglers much better though as I have owned them 10 times longer than the MJ ;)

How much lift are they worth with stock springs? I'll have to go measure them to be exact, but I believe that they were around 1" to 1.5"... It's been over 4 years now since I did it ;)

My advice to new people (on any forums) is always to spend a little time getting to know the place & people. Then start making posts to establish yourself and let people know where you are coming from and what you know. You won't get bashed around here, but as with anywhere...you will have to prove yourself ;) :D .

I chose the Rubicon Express anti-wrap perches when I did the SOA on our YJ, but I went with stock springs and it is primarily a rock crawler so I wanted to use the long perches to avoid the spring wrap. If you are not going to use the truck in any extreme situations where you are putting a lot of torque to the rear then go with the regular perches and save the money.

likely 3.55's but maybe 3.73 I thought those were geared lower than that...and weren't there some in that configuration with 4.56's?

I have run across many people that are happy with thier Rustys equipment, but I have seen way too many bad things from them and would never recommend them. It's one of those "get what you pay for" things. Buy a $500 kit from Rustys and run a 60% chance that you will have trouble or buy a $1000 kit with the same parts from RE and run a 10% chance of trouble. Those percentages are "my opinion" based on the nearly 30 years that I have been in & around the 4X4 world and what I have seen & experienced...not from any scientifically calculated studies. ;)

...and the Dodge Ram hood emblem & front tag  Buy a Dodge if you want a Dodge :laughin:

That exact thing happens on probably 95% of the sites out there. I have had it happen to me on J-O (I am member #33 there and was a moderator there for a long time) as well as on Jeep Forum and on Jeepaholics...just to mention a couple. It takes a LOT of patience to go to a site as a newb with a lot of Jeep experience under your belt because you see things that are not right or you have good info to offer, but you are not going to be accepted as credible until you have had time to prove yourself. It is an incredibly delicate and frustrating balance...especially if you have people on the site that just want to do anything to make you look like an @$$ just because they have been there for a long time and you haven't. I understand and feel your pain...

Somewhat similar to my Proto-fab 4X4 bumper though...
-
Definitely stay away from Rusty's!!! I have no personal experience with Motion Offroad, but they appear to have some good quality stuff. I have been pretty much exclusive to Rubicon Express to this point and I run the RE 3.5" Super ride system on mine in the front with Hell Creek Suspensions rear 3" springs. It really depends on what you intend to do with your truck to determine what is "the best" for you. Mine is being built for looks...no off roading planned at all for this truck. :D

75-90 gear oil for the tranny & axles. What size engine do you have?
