OBD-II question - CEL came on again, 2 codes this time
dfreeman616 replied to Geonovast's topic in The Pub
once you find out the codes, throw them up on here and one of us can probably help you figure it out if needed. -
i've done that before...and i'm a mechanic :D just keep a close eye on it if you do it...

over sized oil drain plug? they're readily available from various suppliers, doorman i believe is one brand. that doesn't really answer the problem of midas being idiots though. there is no reason those threads so be stripped except over tightening or cross threading. not sure there's much you can do though, aside from the bad publicity ideas you two have already mentioned.

check to see if you have spark and or fuel pressure when it won't start.
-
i agree. although if you want to sell it to me for the same $150, i'll come take it off your hands and you could just tell them you messed around with it for awhile, then sold it for the same amount you bought it for :D

looks like it was listed almost a year ago...
-
ahh i was wondering what that was going in when i saw the facebook pic.

it hasn't been sitting long from what i know, and it has almost everything replaced supposedly, including new plugs/wires/points etc and the carbs rebuilt. like i said though, it runs great for a few minutes, then stalls out only when hot. i know the basics of what to check for...coils overheating, perhaps some vapor lock, but was more looking for any specific problem areas, like the crank sensor is in the jeep 4.0L.

anyone have some experience with these bikes? i'm looking at getting a 10/1970 build date for about $150-200 from a guy i know. supposedly a lot has been replaced on it, and it runs fine til hot. at which point, it stalls and needs to cool before starting. it seems to be in pretty decent shape, says a little under 9k miles on it.

sam and jim... i couldn't say it better by any means. and i wouldn't mind having that snap-on box and it's contents...among quite a few other things in that room.

Auto mechanic at a independent shop. I also do side work.

"the most beautiful beast" more or less...also notice that it says "Proteccion Anticorrosiva"...which you can kinda guess at the meaning: anti-rust protection. i guess that was only on the foreign ones like Venezuela got... it also lists "Jeep Comanche Chassis," so it appears they could order without the box...

i have an HF press too, but the plates are just cheap Chinese cast iron, so i don't use them.

sounds a lot like my 99 xj, similar damage and all except mine had a little more front damage and cost even less, with 194k miles at the time. by the way, i have a header in good shape that is the same color as your truck. if you want to work out the shipping i'd trade you for the silver one.

my wife was in an accident that totaled her car, so i needed something quick and cheap. found a link here from another site (greatlakes4x4.com), made an account, and found a 90 lwb 4L 4x4 auto in the chicago area for cheap since the bed was only sitting on it, the fuel tank wasn't hooked up, and it had a lot of rust. i guess the PO had picked up a low-mileage 4x4 that had been used for plowing with a salt spreader, so he swapped beds... called a friend with an f350 and trailer, and set off for a bit of a road trip. all told, i had less than $250 into getting the truck home and drivable. wish i still had it.

great video, chaz! well if Chrysler fails us (as i suspect will be the case), you could always find another MJ to drive while you fix this one, then after you're done, fix up the 2nd one :D not only would it probably cost less to fix up both of them than buy a new Jeep, but then you're keeping 2 mj's alive and kicking for several more years of service :brows:

4 door Comanche in the wild, just saw this on jeep forum.
dfreeman616 replied to lostissues's topic in The Pub
That 4-door long bed above should be about 18 or 19 feet long, based off my calculations for a similar design. I'm thinking about doing almost the same thing, except using a 2-door XJ and SWB MJ. I'm not completely decided though, I'm still playing with numbers and designs before I get started. -
Gotta love lighting off multiple mortars at once :D Also, first time my son was old enough to enjoy fireworks. We got done lighting them off, and he says "again! more!" He's 21 months now.

1990 Jeep Comanche Pioneer 4.0/AW4/NP231/D30/D35 Location: believed to be junked now :-( Notes: My first MJ. Sold to someone as a project, but he gave up on it and I believe junked it.

1990 Jeep Comanche Pioneer 4.0/AX15/NP231/D30/?/LWB Build date: 01-90 Current Location: Probably all over (junked awhile ago) Status: Brent Marsh's dad used the drive train in his Willy's I believe, some parts were sold off before being junked. I found the VIN on the door I used for window parts so I thought I'd post it up. Here's the original part out post: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5418
