  1. So the front ends up in the air! I hope it's on nramps. Push the body, not the wheels, from the passengers side toward the drivers side and reconect the track bar. If your doing it by your-self use a jack somewhere between the axle and body to jack the body in the direction you want it to go, that way you won't need a helper. Thats my prefered method. Good luck.
  2. Brahma off a Mazda that I bought for $50. Works great on th MJ although it is about a inch short in length, but causes no problems. Sprayed a little paint on it to match the MJ but never got around to clear coating it so the colors would match up. Lazy.
  3. Where I live it might bring about 500-800 at most.
  4. Now I know why my head is scrambled. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5odhh ... cro-o_news
  5. Why couldn't you take it loose at the axle bracket end, loosen the adjusting nut at the other end, then screw the track bar which ever way you want to adjust it using a big pipe wrench/vise grips or large screwdriver through the bushing hole. That way you don't have to use a pickle fork on it or hammer on it or mess with a cotter key. Seems so much simpler and you can get the same side to side movement of body/axle necessary to align things. If one end will shorten it why won;t the other? :(
  6. Sent you an email. Hope it helps.
  7. Want to trade 2 long shaft speedometer drive gears, a 34 (green) and 35 (orange), for a good long shaft 33 (probally Yellow). If you have priced these lately you know your geting the best end of this trade. Quoted price for new at dealers to day $103. I,m in Oregon at 97479 Image Not Found
  8. I t don't sound like a camber problem unless someone installed adjustable ball joints on your vehicle or you have a bent axle tube.. It could be caster adjustment though. If you drive on a lot of crowned (Higher in center) roads and have identical caster on both wheels the vehicle will tend to pull to the right (downhill side of road). If thats the problem you can compensate for that by addeing slightly more positve caster to the right front wheel. Or back off a bit on the left one. I prefer to add as lessening caster leads to more wander as it makes the wheels react like casters. Push that ofc chair around and watch the wheels flop around, same principal. Put a .30 shim or a 1/64 in there and see what happens. Just loosen two bolts and slide it in. It won't affect toe-in. Thinking about it a second maybe you don't have enuf caster on either side.
  9. Swap the rear tires side to side and see what happens. You could have a radial run out problem. Some times when tire runs in the reverse direction it changes the tire tracking. Never know until you try it, & if you got a jack its free. Had a friend with similiar problem & he discovered he hadn't tightend the wheel nuts when he changed tires. Torqued them down & his problem went away.
  10. You got any spring/frame shackle bushings left on that truck.
  11. How about a floor first then POR 15. It'll hold up better.

Sounds like a doctor. Mines out on the course every Thur afternoon. Screw the patients
  13. Members frequently want info on how to check out their problems with AT (AW4). This article just about covers it all: http://www.transonline.com/transdigest/ ... index.html If anyone wants to post this somewhere else where it would be more appropriate, go for it.
  14. The first thing I'd do is borrow a known good TCU from a buddy with an MJ/XJ of same year and swap them to determine if the TCU is the problem, only takes a couple minutes. If that don't fix it then move on to a diagnoses test. Want to diagnose that AW4 problem see this, particularly page 3. All you need is a cheap circuit tester. Just be sure to have the ignition in correct position as stated in each testing procedure. http://www.transonline.com/transdigest/ ... index.html
  15. Done that. Not as elaborate as that, but, it sure makes it nice to be able to shift up and down to 2nd gear when you want it. I didn't go as far as the TC lockup as I don't need that. Now I just have to re-hook a couple wires to the switch the gran daughter got ahold of and yanked on. Hint: Always hide the wire out of sight.
  16. I have used TCU's out of 87's, 88's & 89's in my 89 4.0 with AT. Right now it has a TCU out of 88 Cherokee in it. Performs identical to orig TCU. Part # for 88 Cherokee TCU in my hand is AC 032164 87L Bar code is AC7BO9732.
  17. As MJ300 stated, spray all bolts your going to take out with lots of PB Blaster or other rust eater. Let it work for a few hours befolre ou start twisting nus & bolts, it makes it so much easier. 2 13mm bolts hold exhaust hanger to bed. 3 13mm bolts hold emergency brake braket to bed. Remove two hoses going to gas tank from the side of bed (Up underneath behind gas tank fill door). You can leave them attached to the tank if you want.
  18. Rust likes to hide :headpop: under and behind things. Usually in addition to under the carpet it will be behind the fender flares :wall: or under/behind the side moldings on your truck. Any place it gets wet and doesn't dry out is susceptible to rust. If you happen to live in one of the areas where they use sodium solutions on the streets in winter, well, just sit and watch your vehicle dissolve, :grrrr: there aint no cure for that stuff known to man.

  21. I had one of these, a 1977. It was a great vehicle with the quadratrac in the deep (2 to 3') snow as well as very comfortable on the road on long trips. Only drawback, the 360/400 combo was like my alcoloic brother. It drank it's share along with everyone elses's. It needed the auxillary tank for sure. Been thinking about finding a clean cheap one for short jaunts to the local hills. Kinda hard to get 4-5 kids/friends in the MJ.
  22. In a PM he said this is what he's looking for. Anybody out there that can help him. I had one but got rid of it. Image Not Found
