Which states/countries have you visited in your MJ?
deziped replied to beepbeepmyredjeep's topic in The Pub
I traveled on a trip of about 1020 miles all in Oregon without any back tracking on roads already driven. Hasn't been out of Oregon since I've owned it. Hoping in near future to take a trip from CA border N to WA border on dirt & gravel roads through Eastern part of the state. Mainly BLM & national forest land consisting of desert and mountains. -

Product knowledge test, unknown wire and vacuum line
deziped replied to airspeed's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Blue vac hose is a bleed/vent. Leave it lay where it is. Where does the red wire go to. Being 1-12 ga it must run something like an added on accesorie. Fog lights maybe. Follow the line to find out. -
2360 that seat looks great. Now get re-motivated & you'll have a good looking interior.

If new solenoids are 2 expensive go to a JY with a digital multimeter in hand. You can find good (OHM's in spec) solonoids in AW4 equipped MJ's by following the procedures outlined at the site Wildman referenced above. That way you know if their good before you drop the tranny pan. But if you don't mind getting your hands dirty pull a few & take them home for a trial & error method.

More axle swap questions.
deziped replied to JeepinSoldier's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
After you have priced the dealer, NAPA, and other rip offs, contact PATC Speed Shop, Bossier City, LA at 1-888-201-2066 and ask for a used Dodge (Same as Jeep) Speedometer Gear, Teeth & Shaft: 33 Tooth Long (That would be the yellow one). I have bought several from them in good as new condition. Price on mar 30th this year was $24 with $7 S&H. Their speedy shippers also. -
Never had an auto yet that didn't bite the dust once it showed signs of "slippage". Changing fluid at the slippage stage is waste of good fluid that you could have dumped in the replacement tranny. Some times an additive (like Lucas) will help for awhile. Slippage is not an electrical problem in the AW4. The electric solenoids are either working or not working to select the gear. Slippage is worn parts usually.

Put a pint of 80-90- in front diff. Thought about going to JY & picking up 93-98 VC. Question - are 93 to 98 VC steel or plastic?

Now that's some Words of Wisdom. And don't get in a butt kicking contest when your by your self and out numbered by the opposition ethnic group six to one. Believe me a couple black eyes and cauliflower ears aint worth the effort. Yes stupidity can be harmful to your health.

Brake cleaner is discriminatory in its ability to destroy things. I have sprayed metal parts with no problems. I have sprayed rubber products where it destroyed some but not others. I sprayed a very expensive vacuum cleaner motor to clean it and where the over-spray contacted the plastic housing it melted the plastic into a very distorted totally unuseable $500 pile of crap. I have sprayed other plastic where it had no effect on it. That stuff is like playing Russian roulette.

Replaced the w/s wiper mechanism bushings. What a rip off on plastic parts. Cost $13.32 local off the HELP rack, had there been an Advanced Auto Parts store around here I could have got them for $4. On line they wanted $3.69 plus 11.75 S&H. Now I have 3 new bushing left out of the kit that fit on 82-2000 Nissan. Send me $3 and I'll send them to anyone that can use them.

If you don't legally own it, it's theft/pilfering/mis-appropriation,etc.. Now days the law doesn't apply to you/me/us/or special causes/etc unless there is a value where-by it will gain-fully benefit are purpose. It only applies to others who perpetrate crimes. them scoff-laws. There are measures where-by title to unclaimed or abandoned property can be claimed. It doesn't cost much more than a postage stamp. But we each make our choices.

Seats look like crap, but, the brackets ought to be worth the $30. Maybe he will throw the seats away and ship just the brackets to someone in need. http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/pts/1709761668.html

Colo is Nice place to visit. Spent a year long ago (57) running the back roads in all directions out of Colo Spgs. On Friday evening I was always headed for Pueblo and party time. Passed through those two places this past Summer and didn't recognize anything. Wasn't anything you could call a tall building around back in 57. No freeways either. They were just small town USA then. Obviously the bridge I use to side-swipe at least once a month do to over indulgence just N of Pueblo is long gone. That sucker was narrow and dangerous and always really dark or maybe I just never turned my lights on. State never needed to paint the right side of that one, I did it for them with the ol car door from one end to the other. Never did bother to fix the damage on the 46 Ford Club Coupe as I figured it wouldn'tr last more than a week anyway.
