Header For 89 Comanche?
comanchedude replied to Antarctico's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I can’t understand what difference it would make if its auto or std If it supports stock exhaust then there should be no difference as the stock exhaust is the same for auto or std Call them and ask...prolly fits either way -
I would think the spacer against the body then the isolator this would provide a solid stable mounting place for the spacer thats my 2cent

The great auto swap project
comanchedude replied to Cabz's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Cabz Not sure I understand the question but My guess is your talking about the TCU "transmission control unit" if so the power comfort switch is wired from the C11 port on the TCU and also the power wire that runs from the fuse panel and feeds the neutral start switch Or if you are doing your own wiring then you just need to run power fron the fuse box through the switch then to the C11 port Now I don’t know what you have changed but I have converted a std shift Comanche to auto and all that was needed was the tranny wire harness and that is (stand alone harness) that can be pulled from donor and installed that simple "it is totally standalone" and the power comfort switch plug is already part of the dash harness and all that was required was the "switch" Hope that helps some -
Welcome You will find most evryone on this fourm is very helpful

Well since you did not offer BLUE I will go with Silver And I think the roll bar would look good -
Its allways hard to diagnose a "noise" over the net and it could be several things,so i won't try But to answer your question (is it a good deal? $750 ) Well if you like the truck and the frame is solid and as you stated the body has a small amount of rust I would say thats more than a fair deal on good running 4x4 comanche

SOA need longer yoke
comanchedude replied to comanchedude's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the info I priced to have my shaft extended and balanced, $90.00 that’s what I will do to have the length back to original ., -
Question I just completed an SOA and I don’t like how little slip yoke is left in the tail shaft It is only about 1.5 inches and that is quite a bit less than stock and I am sure that will pull out off road So I want to install a longer drive shaft yoke I understand the YJ yoke will work and is an inch longer Does anyone have one for sale or can you direct me to a good site to buy a new one that is not 60+ dollars? Thanks

Change from 2wd to 4X4
comanchedude replied to 88Sport_Truck's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have done the conversion from 2/w std to 4/wd auto and its not that bad so if you just want to make your 2wd a 4wd then simply switch tranny and axels (the complete drivetrain) and you have what you want. You will need to use the radiator for the auto and shifters ect but it will be a weekend job with the help of one or two friends. if you swap engines then you have much more work due to the fact of the different engine control systems (renix vs CryCo). so take a weekend and swap the drivetrain and you will be ready to go -

Tailgate up or Tailgate down???
comanchedude replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Possibly be worse with it down Normally a "bubble" of air is developed in the bed while driving and has no drag on the truck, if you lower the tailgate there will be no bubble and your tailgate can act as a spoiler and produce drag “ie cost mileage” but more than likely not very mesurable You should run gate up as designed by the engineers, also this has been tested and proven. It’s not my idea or theory it is a technical fact. -
Check this company out http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-Com ... 8021392870 they have a Comanche lift kit that has a "bolt on SOA system" i have not seen this and it sounds like a cool idea not have to weld on the rear axel anyone her ever see this type system before? Thought?
-
Welcome You will find that folks on this site are cool Nice looking truck, in the spring start rust proofing Get some POR15 and paint under the rear fenders and the frame and take up the carpet and do the floor That way it will last forever other wise they can rust apart "literally"
