  1. They hold a soft spot to me. On the right truck, I think they're just as handsome as all get-out! Just part of another theoretical build in my head. :hijack:

  9. Totally. At least on Gearz he's able to dabble in all kinds of cool stuff outside of the usual 4x4 stuff from when he was on Trucks. Yeah, he built some street stuff too, but I'd say that the majority of what he worked on was lifted vehicles. Then by the end of his time on Trucks it seemed like every other episode he was installing another plug and play tuner and bolting on an exhaust and cold air intake. You're probably right and he does sound ridiculously scripted... but that's what makes him cool! He puts on the same act and he repeats the same lines over and over again! Ever count how many times in an episode of Gearz he comes back from a commercial and says something like, "Ya know, when it comes to..." "Ya know, the world of..." "Ya know, with the way that..." "Ya know, since the beginning of..." "Ya know, everytime that..." If you were sit down with a whole bunch of recorded episodes and challenged someone to taking a shot everything he says it, you'd get knocked over pretty quick!

  11. Been thinking about this all week. What to do about the water tank filler neck? Originally, I was planning on having the spare in the middle... well, that changed with the addition of a small toolbox. I still want the spare on the front for some better tongue weight, so I split the space. The plan is to move the spare over and have share the space with a small toolbox. Boring looking toolbox, right? It was Backdraft that put it in my head about a toolbox, but I have to be honest that I really don't care for diamond plate. It's just too overdone! I understand that it hides scratches amazingly but I'd rather enjoy the cleanliness of smooth aluminum now and regret it later. I might even end up painting it... who knows. Maybe some bedliner on the lid. Anyhow, the box is intended for a 20 pound propane tank and also as some counter space. Good enough spot for it... right next to the water faucet for ease of cleaning dishes. I know, I could've just used the tailgate for a counter top, but think of when you want to get in or out of the topper. You either have to move everything to the side or step over it all. With even a small space elsewhere from the tailgate, it opens everything up just that much more. As far as the box... it isn't done yet, but you get the idea:
  12. That was my final result. I was told that I supposedly had service at my house and I insisted that they come out to see for themselves that my house is in some sort of black hole. After talking to several representatives and working my way up the manager chain, Sprint ended up shooting my a deal on an Airave. Plenty of service now but if I'm talking to someone between the boosted signal and the signal at the end of my driveway I'll still drop the call.
  13. BajaMJ did a 2500 conversion on his truck on NAXJA:
  14. :clapping: ... but you're making me want one of these too. :shake:
  15. Now that is a handsome interior. Nice find!
  16. I guess I haven't really thought of that yet. With plans of having the spare on the front, I don't know how much room there will be. Hmm... good thinking, though!
  17. Something in the water that the grass if all purple too? :hmm:
  18. when i was looking for a car last year i wanted to buy american and i looked into the zx3 focus. seen MANY complaints of around 70-80k a valve spring retainer or sumthing would break, drop into the cylinder and pretty much grenade the valvetrain. ford kicked it under the rug and never repaired the cars. that made me quit looking at them. i like my GLI, but have been thinking of selling it and getting something a bit older. 00-01 Audi A4 quattro's are on my list, just not the automatics ($3500-4000 rebuild over here). they key would be to find one that has and can prove the maintance of oil changes/timing belt replacement. or find one with a bad turbo and replace it with a FRANKEN Turbo. I heard something like that but I haven't found anything on it in the DOHC four cylinders from 2004+. I'd love to go VW again, but she really wants an auto trans. We lucked out on her last Jetta that the car went before the trans. A VW with an auto isn't if the trans will go but when. Found a couple Vibes that I'd like to take a look at. It's the cargo area that I really like about them but it's also the down fall, as you stated. I think if my wife can drive one comfortably, then it'll really lean me to them.
  19. Parts may be tough to find for a Yugo around here. I'd love to rock an MK1 Rabbit though.
  20. I thought about adding another door but nothing else needs any body work. Again, the whole unmodified bed thought keeps spinning in my head. Stainless would've been close to $1000. Besides the stainless, I've got about $1000 in everything up to this point. Welcome back to CC!
  21. As far as I know, chains and studded tires are not road legal here. Most people know how to drive in the snow, but it does takes the majority of winter for them to remember how. :thwak:
  22. Said latches: Then I was thinking... what were to happen if I installed a battery with all kinds of cool interior lights, a pump for the water tank and all sorts of other such fun things and it went dead? I mean, it could happen. Forget to charge it before heading out, over use, leave a light on, or anything else that'd run a battery dead. Why not go back to keeping things simple? I could install a battery later on, but for now I think it'll get a little more basic. So, as far as the pump then: Yup... it's just a transfer pump. It moves plenty of water in a decent amount of time and it's cheap as all get out too. I put together a stainless mount to put in place of the factory filler neck. Not completely crazy about it just yet. I think it'll need something a little more fancy than just a hose hanging out. Probably do up something that'll hold the hose on the filler door when it's open or closed: Then at the other end is nothing fancy at all. I just used some plumbing parts to connect the dots and give me a way to drain it if needed: What I am puzzled on is the filler neck for the tank. Originally, I planned on putting everything in the filler compartment, but it quickly turned in the classic story of 10 pounds of "stuff" in a 5 pound bag. I whipped up a filler neck but I'm not quite sure where I'd like to locate it yet: Now, I've got a couple of spots in mind, but I'm not sure which would be better. Right now, I think I'd recess it into the side and go either inside the front cabinet: ... or mount it under the box but on the front panel: If I go inside, then I know it'll bug me everytime I need to fill the tank. Water will most likely get all over the inside of the cabinet. On the other hand, if it's on the outside, it'll be easy to fill but anyone could get to it. Really not sure and I may just be over thinking it. Anyone have any thoughts?
  23. Bringing this back up to date. After living in the new place for a while now, we've found that car pooling has worked out very well and haven't thought about another car for a while. Last week the question was asked by her, "Does the AC in any of the trucks work?". After a good laugh and having to sit down to collect myself, "Uh... no". I'm still thinking about a 2004 and up Ford Focus. Another new contender I've bee looking into is the Pontiac Vibe or Toyota Matrix. So... any new information from anyone? Thanks guys!
