  1. Thank you.
  2. I don't' have a pic of an early assembly and I don't know if the 97 up is different. Pedals are moved to the left of the accelerator pedal on the XJ vs the MJ.
  3. I'm not arguing or picking a fight, and it's nothing personal with anyone. I don't care what the kid does with his truck, this is not about one engine or one transmission. What I am trying to do is get people to think. People are going to have to begin to come up with alternatives. What you did 5-10-15 years ago is irrelevant to the upcoming generation. The days of $75 transfer cases and $150 transmissions and $300 donor MJs are GONE, DONE, OVER! Read carefully- Yes, parts can still be found. However- I just did another search, I searched all 25 of Pull-A-Part's yards. Out of 25 yards there are 6 80's era XJs, no MJs at all. Augusta 1 Baton Rouge 1 El Paso 1 Indianapolis 1 Lafayette 1 Tucson 1 New Orleans West has a '94 with a 2.5 AX5 El Paso has a '88 with a 2.5 AX5 but does not give him an external bell. Augusta has an '86 with 2.5 AX5 but no external bell. That's it. Yes, that is just one company, one set of 25 yards that can be searched.......but..........it's an indicator, it tells me what is out there, what is available. Two years ago most of these yards would have had a dozen or more XJs, not today. Answers from years past no longer apply.
  4. Here is a V6 from a 94 Camaro, are you telling me this cannot be planted in an MJ?
  5. Alright. You know how many AX5s I've been through? 5 in five years. If you think you are going to pick up a junk yard manual and never replace it?????? You've got a 32 year old truck, what do you expect?
  6. Alright, whatever. Did you read my post? Variants? I assume you know what a variant is? I posted a link to a list, which you can find for yourself, of the vehicles with come with longitudinal V6s, including the Firebird, Camaro, S10, Blazer, Trooper..............there are millions of them. Aluminum heads, intakes, headers...............all available.
  7. It's not a bad link. I said nothing about an I4 with Isuzu...........jeesh............man Look it up yourself.
  8. TBI? Have you done anything to address engine performance? If so, what? PIcs? Do you realize people run 10 second cars with a 904? that a 904 can, if built, handle 550-650 HP? Not only is a manual valve body available, so is a reverse manual VB. In nearly 8 years now, I've seen 1 XJ with a 4x4 904 and you have the 3rd MJ I'm aware of with the 4x4 904. They are that rare. You need to do some reading, study, realize what you have and what you can do with it. Jeep people give you patent Jeep answers, this is one you need to think through. And no, what you heard about the 3.4 is wrong.
  9. Do a little wiki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_60°_V6_engine 25 year production run, numerous variants, something like 30 different models from 1/2 a dozen makers, including Isuzu.
  10. Thanks, I do need a set.
  11. Well, that didn't last long. Gone.
  12. XJ, not MJ. Casually looking, thanks. Shipped to 37843
  13. It's a good one. Make me an offer of $20 and I'll accept it. Shipping from TN to CA will be $15 https://www.ebay.com/itm/282861657902?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  14. Need to revise this a bit- Only one listed on Ebay, none locally. These parts are getting harder and harder to find. Pedal assembly, $210 shipped. https://www.ebay.com/itm/95-Jeep-XJ-clutch-pedal-assy/263519566858?hash=item3d5afd7c0a:g:OFYAAOSwPXBalB4s&vxp=mtr
  15. Different set up but the same problem. When I had the exhaust ran.........muffler shop cut the pipe just below the joint and then straightened the joint and then rewelded the pipe. IOWs the pipe is at an angle to the manifold/joint, that angle needs to be corrected.
  16. If you don't have Jeep buddies, if you don't have a pile of parts, if you don't have Jeep buddies with piles of parts. From scratch, auto to manual. AX15- $550 Dakota bell- $225 Clutch- $125 Master/slave- $230 Pilot bushing- $10 Pedal assembly- $50 Flywheel- $60 Xmember- $20 Trans mount- $15 Trans mount plate- $20 (modify exhaust mount at plate) Shifter- $30 Shifter boot and bezel- $30 Drive shafts, if needed, mine cost- $575 Misc- fluids, speedo cable, seals.....anything that is unforeseen, nuts, bolts.......whatever............$50 Total- $1,990.00 Edit: my list neglected the TC, whether he needs one, one he has has a different spline count, whatever the need is.......add that too.
  17. Nowhere did the man say his transmission was broken I want you to itemize each part for an ax15 swap starting from scratch and state a cost or price for each part I want to see where you're at with this
  18. I didnt' suggest a 4.0, I suggested a 3.4. Engine mounts and exhaust would be his greatest expense outside of the donor itself.
  19. I assume you are referring to me? I don't speak in jargon. I take it you have not built one yet? My statement stands, his engine is worn out. He's asking what is the best bang for his dollar? Putting another transmission behind a worn out 2.5 will net him a loss, not a gain, this has yet to be addressed but by me. Stock rebuilt will run him a minimum of $2000, you have other expenses which no one ever mentions, fluids, gaskets, clutch, starter, water pump........etc....... Going beyond stock, as I have, you will be well above the $3000 mark. I am successful, I suppose, but I'm not happy. mnkboy is the ONLY ONE that claims success. Of all the Jeep sites, of all the 2.5 builds, of all the effort, all the money...........he is the ONE, apparently. Some of us have chased the rabbit down the hole.......you don't want to buy into my 'jargon', that's up to you. You mentioned regearing, if you can do it yourself, $500, if you take to a shop, $1200+, every dollar spent is a work around to low power up front. And no one mentioned that he'll likely lose his front and rear DS with this swap..........another $400++ OP, find a good XJ donor with a 2.5 and a AX5 for around $800 and swap it all over, that's the best for your dollars spent.
  20. Yes, it sucks. I had an XJ donor with a pedal assembly, it never occurred to me at the time to save it. I'm casually looking for one now. XJs move the clutch and brake to the left, but they don't have the parking brake pedal.........I'll live with it tight on the parking brake side.
  21. No idea what clearance he has, no idea what air cleaner he has, no idea how his engine is set up, no pictures.......basically, no information. Yes, you have many options, options cost money, some options cost HP.
  22. Unless someone is handing you the parts for free............? That's a two day swap and minimum $1000. And you'll be even more disappointed than you are now. Park a 3.4 in front of that 904 and be happy. You are blaming the transmission for what a tired 32 year old 2.5 no longer has to offer.
  23. Thanks for the response. I want to design a peekaboo backup light, one that drops and retracts. I've found a linear actuator that will work and I think I've figured out how to reverse polarity from a single signal. I've also considered a pneumatic cylinder, I like the idea of onboard air......however....... You obviously have a manifold that switches air pressure, push-pull, can you shed some light on that?
