Winch popping BUSS fuses and Starter relay
Jeep Driver replied to Me&my86MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The green 'wires' that are coming off the starter relay are your fused links.......those are your fuses. Those links supply power to the entire truck- Ign system, headlights, gauges, all other lights, fuel pump, cig lighter, blower motor............whatever else that is powered. So, all that is being run through that one small fused yellow wire, simply put, it's wrong. And I don't see where your alt is tied to the battery? Nor do I see where your neg cable is grounded? Your starter wire is too long too, I see it looped. Whatever your problem, whatever the cause, you need to start over again. -

And all that extra cable you got wadded up there for the winch needs to go away, that wire needs to be as short as possible. -

Now I see...............wow! Who wired that? You should have a 4g cable from the pos battery post to the starter relay, no fuse. You are running that entire truck off a single 12g wire........wow. -
Part No. and/or source needed
Jeep Driver replied to AZJeff's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It may be that that connection is a part of the rad and not an individual piece/part. Do yourself a favor, bypass the trans HEATER and get yourself a trans cooler........forget about the rad altogether. You live in AZ, you don't have to heat the trans. Bet your engine temp will drop also. -

I just saved $12 on a carb for my son's go-kart.

OK. Assuming that the main bracket is the same and the adjuster is the same........ You'll need the pump bracket and the pulley. The pump bracket should be the same for any year, at least through the Renix years. The correct pulley is imperative for belt alignment.
-
-
You still have the TBI on the 90, correct? That bracket and pulley are specific to the 2.5 TBI and there ain't many left.
-
Finding the correct bracket and pulley is the hard part.........the rest is mind-numbingly easy.

Turns over, won't run - HELP!
Jeep Driver replied to madmusic5's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The six wires you are referring to likely operates the idle control motor, it will run without it, not necessary. You can take the intake hat off and watch the injector spray fuel. It's either related to the fuel pump or MAP, one or the other. Clean the vacuum port to the MAP, replace line with new vacuum hose, replace MAP. There is no ballast resistor on the 88 2.5. When you turn the key to ign the ECU runs the pump for 3-4 seconds (prime function) then turns the pump off. Pump does not run again until starter is engaged. If the ECU does not receive information from the sensors, MAP would be one, it will shut down the pump again. This is what is sounds like to me, MAP. -

How did you index the distributor? -
I'm speaking to the bigger picture here. When speaking to prospective customers, I have found that I have just seconds to capture their attention, if I cannot pull information out of my pocket and show them current work or past work or ideas or products.........I've lost their attention. My tablet stays in the truck for the more patient and creative and curious. I build a lot of showers, in our area we install our own pans, I photo-doc everything that gets covered up, not only to prove that I did the work but to prove I did it correctly. The GCs I work for don't even question me, they know I document everything and can prove my work instantly. Customer shows me receipt for tile they purchased or any other materials, I photograph the receipt, or they send me a photo of the receipt, either way, I have the information I need to pick up materials. If I make a purchase that I need to get reimbursed for I can sent the receipt in via email instantly. And I also have an e-record at all times. Approvals, I can send photos of my work to GCs or customers via text or email and get an approval to go forward whenever there may be a question, approval comes quickly and I have a record of approval, colors or designs or framing or .........whatever it is, no one can ever come back and say they did not approve. Or approvals for additional work or damage that needs to be repaired, they can see what I see in real time and make decisions accordingly. Inspections, if I can get my phone into wall cavities or floor cavities, I can see what direction wiring or plumbing or the condition of framing....etc.... Price-matching, scanning of bar codes for purchases, comparing products, e-coupons.............showing the unimaginative/ignorant sales people what I'm looking for..... I generally invoice from home but can and sometimes do remotely. The one thing I refuse to do, the one line I refuse to cross is mobile banking or mobile bill pay, I don't want any of that information on a phone that I may lose. Just a couple of examples and I'm certain others are using their phones for things I haven't thought of. Almost all of my customers are middle aged, wealthy, and fairly tech savvy, I try to keep up, I like to be taken seriously. My phone ain't a 'phone', it's my primary tool.
-
How can I put this gently? You say you are an architect, I assume you are on job sites, you are active and mobile? I'm a contractor, without my phone I'm out of business. What do you expect from a phone you'll pay $5 a month for? Phones, like any devise, are disposable. I know it's difficult for some of you to wrap your minds around that concept. May I suggest the S8 Active, I had the S6 Active for two years and I have the S8 Active for almost two years now, Active phones will take a beating. I really want a Note 9 but I'll wait to see if Samsung releases a S9 Active in the coming months. My phone is my source of news, internet, email, texts, radio, GPS, camera,.....and yes, even a phone. When customers send me links to materials they want to use or photos of designs or directions or prints and layouts or........when I send them photos of my work.........I need a powerful tool, not a $5 POS. FWIW, I pay exactly $251.00 per month for two phones and a tablet, not cheap but sometimes you really do get what you pay for. As for the compass, I've never used it, I've never used a compass for that matter, my internal compass has never failed me.

No one here seems really hip on current events....however....... https://phys.org/news/2018-12-next-generation-gps-satellites-space.html

I buy the tool, not the name. There are two tools that Dwalt has down pat. Compound slide, there is not an equivalent. And their drills/drivers/impacts, bar none. I drive 10s of thousands of fasteners- screws/olys/tap-cons/nuts/lag bolts..........whatever comes my way.

Yeah, why I don't even bother to post much anymore.

Cherokee/MJ Slave MC question
Jeep Driver replied to Articul8's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Here's the pedal assembly for the 97+, it's different. So much so that I didn't bother trying. Don't know what you want to do...........but............ -
Congratulations. As an aside- I've studied wars over the last few years, I've long since learned how to study and how to weed out the propaganda and revisionism. I've also learned what to look for and how to look for it. Viet Nam was not on my radar until I revisited the assassination of JFK. I've spent the last several weeks looking into the US involvement, I can tell you that very few people know the history of VN, how we got there, why we got there. The answers will surprise you.

From what little you are showing us, I suspect the damage was systemic, failure was throughout.

The bottom of those tappets indicate that the lobes on the cam are completely worn. You did the right thing, it was time for a rebuild or replacement.

Mysterious "clunk", please help.

Tighten the four bolts on the TB mount at the frame. -
I'd like to see what that cam looks like. Fried from what I can see here-

Depending on your state.....county..... If you are not a licensed contractor, no mechanic's lean and in some states you would not even have the right to small claims. Just putting that out there. FWIW- You waited too long. I get paid when I'm done and don't ever F with my money. But, we all eat a few, guess it's your turn.
