  1. Correct me if I am wrong, but the 3.07 was all that came with the 4.0 5spd. That is a pretty "common ratio." The 3.55 came in most XJs on up through '01 and are a dime a dozen around here. There is literally a pile of them at one of yards here....your pick for $125 all day long. The 3.55 ratio was standard for all 4.0L XJs and MJs with the automatic. 87MJTIM is correct, the 3.07 ratio was used with the 4.0L 5-speed through the entire production run of the XJ and MJ, from 1987 through 2001. I would call that a "common" axle. Yeah, really? With your logic the 4.10 8.25 would be common too since it came behind the AX5. I scour CL on a nearly daily basis, 6-7 cities a night for Jeep parts, have been for the last 2.5 years or so. When I set out to find a 4.10 8.25, I searched 3-4 hours per day going through every Jeep listing in a 400 mile radius of me. I had every JY in my area search, I searched every yard in my area, stopped and asked at shops that had junk piles, spoke to guys who had home-shops, racers......whoever.......wherever.....anyone who might be able to find me one. The one I found was not even listed for sale, it was listed in an ad for an XJ as an extra throw-in part, I called and convinced the seller to sell it to me directly. So, effectively there has not been a 4.10 8.25 listed for sale in a 400 mile radius of me in 2.5 years......notta.....and the only lose one I found, I have. When I set out to find something I am unrelenting, I will find it. The OP may have one given to him today for free, or he may spend the next 4 months looking for it. Maybe you should find him one, a GOOD one, since they are so 'common'. Good job for you, don't you think?
  2. On stock trucks with NO lift?
  3. I worked for Uhaul many many years ago. The first time I saw a Uhaul auto transport trailer on the side of the road with a 4sale sign on it I called Uhaul to report it stolen, they told me the ONLY trailer that has ever been sold by them was the car trailer. They are sold and yours is legit.

  5. Never mind...........if you had a more common ratio...... However, I'd be looking for a new front axle and scrap that one.
  6. Since the owner of this site will not allow some images........ http://www.wranglerforum.com/f218/2-5l-timing-chain-tensioner-stuck-err-pls-help-159416.html When they stretch they REALLY stretch. As I stated....just my opinion......and you have yours. You also have no way to advance timing with the factory timing set, after 30K miles you end up with -4 degrees rather than +4 degrees. His choice.
  7. BTW, the key on your crank at 12 o-clock indicates TDC.......just go by that.
  8. Yes......and I was going to mention the HB this morning but my ideas generally fall on deaf ears anyway....... The factory chain is a POS...just my opinion. You can get a double roller if you want. Your dist is a tooth or two off, use a screw driver or some other 'feeler' to find TDC on the piston....forget the HB for the moment..........NOW go index your dist.
  9. Is yours a daily driver?
  10. http://jksmfg.com/i-13306791-cherokee-xj-comanche-mj-1984-2001-adjustable-front-trackbar-fits-1-3-5-lift.html Any thoughts on this one?
  11. You say you could not back-probe your TPS..........so how did you set the new one? O2?
  12. Not about the bling. I'm looking for a double shear TB for 0 lift. I spoke to Andy yesterday at Ironman to see if he would make me one. Apparently I'm not the only one with this request but no one has been able to successfully design one. I do not what a lift. I DO what better handling and installing a lift just to get a double-shear would defeat the purpose. I'm on my 5th TB in 2.5 years, I'm done with this $#!&. Andy said he'll take another look at designing one and get back with me next week. Part of the problem with his design is that the adjustment for length is at the frame mount end rather than the axle end, so clearing the dif is problematic. Raising the pivot point at the frame end will require me to raise the pivot point at the axle end......that I can handle myself and will probably be discussed with my next call to him. Any ideas?
  13. http://www.metalcloak.com/TJ-LJ-Jeep-Wrangler-Solid-Chromoly-Front-Track-Bar-p/7035.htm Looking at this track bar, any of you deal with these guys? have their track bar? Thanks
  14. This. It's really easy to be 180 degrees off. I suggest: Cut a window in you dist cap at number 1, pull your VC, manually turn your engine over and watch the rockers/valve and make certain you are on the compression stroke of #1 TDC, your rotor should have just swept #1 on the cap.
  15. Got mine a couple days ago :) Image Not Found I'll be ordering the short stick and TC ball in a couple of weeks.
  16. I'm very impressed with Harland Sharp's product, even the packaging is professional. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found New Dayco balancer installed, new starter, loaded with Royal Purple break-in oil and pump has been primed and distributor indexed. The only thing I have left is remove the VC from my current engine and blast and paint, otherwise the engine is ready for install. Got this little jewel the other day. :) Image Not Found
  17. My 2.5 always ran but it didn't run right. The only thing I can offer you is what I did......go through everything electrical......replace every sensor..........upgrade your grounds and cables. You may want to look to your fuel pump.
  18. If your prop valve has been eliminated, this is all you should see at the rear axle line- You have air in the return line and no way to bleed it out. Image Not Found
  19. The line back to the distribution block at the master needs to be eliminated. Remove the '3-way'.
  20. While looking for the above pic......... For you youngn's, this is class-
  21. Soooooo 1972.........lol
  22. I have stood the 27 and the 29 spline 8.25s side by side, the bearing end is the same, the splined end is different. 29 is larger at the splined area only.
  23. Very nice. I'm just down the road from ya.
