  1. Mirrors and speedometer cables? What about? Something I've noticed- Most of you play along as though you will always and somehow get parts for your truck......and........I've been saying........... Particularly, sensors and hard parts like fly wheels and balancers and whatever else, whatever critical part you will need.......clutch masters and slaves for example. And now this, today, it's not surprising to me, not at all. Worth a listen. I already intended to build a roller next time.
  2. You've come to your second hurdle. Mirrors and now a cable. There is no MJ specific cable available. I also replaced mine with the Pioneer and mine bounced around too, that's why I suggested the NAPA. If not for the XJ, most of the parts that are available for the MJ would not exist at all.......if not for shared parts. Windshield for example, none are listed for the MJ and only independent shops will install the XJ glass. The cables are longer, too long, likely a generic cable which fits a dozen other applications. You'll have to route in a way that allows for the 6" of extra length. Your mirrors- I suspect- Dealer supplied option at the time, 'performance towing' or some such thing, specifically if you have the factory mirror blank panels at the window. Likely had a 1 or two year run, could have been regional or even a couple of local dealers which offered those. I have looked for you.....looked everywhere, I have found not even a hint of anything similar. There are options, options I suspect which are out of your wheelhouse, I didn't even make suggestions. I'm not beating the drum here, however, two paths you can take going forward- Wallow around in the ruts or make your own path........that's the choice you'll have particularly in the next couple of years when these NOS (any part, used or aftermarket) parts dry up, and they will.
  3. That's what one does when he does not want to be like everyone else. And god know's I don't want to be like anyone else.
  4. Very smart!
  5. I'm going V8..........it ain't gonna matter.
  6. Thanks. Just curious because I'll be eliminating the ECU in the future.
  7. What precisely does the ECU control in the AC system?
  8. Tedious and time consuming. But I want it clean and right. I used an awl to open up the hole in the body plug/grommet, then forced a piece of 3/8 brass tubing in the hole, ran the wire through the tubing, pulled out the tubing, wire is tight in the hole just like it was. I mentioned in someone else's thread about being nickle and dime'd to death. Wire, loom, connectors, bolts and nuts, solder.......all that you see here, just the get the lights wired and bed bolted back down.....just over $200, bolts alone were $42. I went to NAPA today to get some loom clips........won't even tell you what they expected me to pay, special order with freight. I really have no respect for parts stores and mindless counter boys............none! Idiots. So, off to ebay I go, again.
  9. See Limeyjeeper's thread below. I suspect he'll have $40K invested by the time he's done, if he isn't there already. The numbers I gave you are low, I believe, particularly as time goes on, unmolested, clean, straight, rust-free, trucks will average in the $6K range. Two things I cannot stand- BSers and Cheerleaders, I tell it like it is. I'm not trying to talk you into or out of anything. For example, you mentioned- 'box-off restoration'.......paint and body, I'm assuming? You got a paint buddy, good, get a quote. A custom/production shop which will take a full paint like that will have about 100-120 hours invested. Limey got his done for $10K. I did mine at home, extensive work, I'm north of 700 hours and north of $2K in materials/tools. All personal thrills aside......your time is money. Every day you come home it sits there, waiting for your attention.......it's taxing. However, there are things which will only get done if you do it. Don't count on a shop to strip your frame, paint to color, repair all your broken bolts/threads.......etc... What I have invested in mine is irrelevant, several transmissions, suspensions, new engine which will be replaced, mistakes and re-dos. The Chrysler 8.25 is very well suited for the MJ. In my 9 years of MJ escapades, I've only seen one factory 29 spline 4.10 with LSD and I have it, it's a keeper. $6K budget? The 'stroker' alone will eat that up. The transmission I want is $6K- http://www.rsgear.com/products/off-road-truck-transmissions You mentioned 'long arms'. Suspension- springs, shackles, shocks, long-arms, brakes, wheels, tires......rear axle/fab.....there goes your $6K. Wiring, connectors, sensors, nuts and bolts, this part and that part, searching for NOS.......etc..........will nickle and dime you to death. Yeah, cool trucks.........but.........the days of $400 donors and easy to find parts are now long gone.....those days have passed. Just be aware. And mine-
  10. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_6151677?cid=paidsearch_shopping_dcoe_google&gclid=CjwKCAiA1fnxBRBBEiwAVUouUmA15cbXdXEKLxv-bFYjtnoW5DT8EGhCWMKJs3WfU49JRf8f9ikgNxoCjkEQAvD_BwE
  11. OK..........2006 for the 4.0, my mistake. Either way.......you all are chasing dead rabbits down shallow holes.
  12. As a clean straight driver.........2W..........even with the trans problem....... It's a $3800 to $4200 truck if marketed appropriately. Sell it now, if you have no heart in it, no personal desires............you'll never get your money back. You'll never see $15K and what you are describing is not a -restoration-. 8.8 is one of a few mistakes I see here.
  13. In the process of putting the connectors on. Soldered, of course. Can be found here and for the money these are very nice connectors- https://www.ebay.com/itm/Weatherproof-Automotive-Connector-Set-3-pin-Male-Female-20Amps-20-14AWG-E38B/262453109442?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Seller also has other connectors in his store.
  14. Well..........not really. I'll be using this- https://www.gamainc.com/product/80aprc/ Signal is 12v pos from transmission back up light switch.
  15. I did not photograph it but I repaired the screw areas the same way. Epoxy and fiberglass strands.
  16. Well.........that answers you question.
  17. There are quite a few companies which make and restore seat belts. Do some homework. You are better off new, not that expensive.
  18. Alright..... One of you draw me a schematic of- 12v linear actuator, two functions from a single 12v signal. Extend and retract from one signal.
