I'm torn on if I agree with you or not.

Here's the Zuk I was talking about: It's funny because with no engine noise you can hear all sorts of stuff... And no shouting directions or anything else.

Yes, lots of S10 and Ranger conversions are out there. But they're S10s and Rangers so they suck.

I was just going to get a Honda Eu2000i to recharge it if I went too far. I believe that's all the guy on Pirate uses. To actually fit a hybrid system permanently would require much more trouble, and isn't really what I want it for. 90% of the time I drive to town and pick up steel, wood, groceries, etc, and drive back, which is about a 100km round trip as a maximum. The reality is the economics of such a project would never make sense though, I drive a mixed fleet of my own vehicles maybe 15000km a year, and this could not replace every vehicle (nor would I want it to) so the economics are somewhat beside the point.

Yes, one keeps my tropical plants alive during the annual 6 months of darkness.

I post on Pirate because I love the abuse. No, actually it's because the hivemind of the internet is often right and what you're doing might be stupid and a bad idea...

I'm aware you can donate to his Patreon and see them early. He's still looking for views, plain and simple, as views turn into both ad revenue and Patreons, plus they turn into Youtube (and Google) recommending his videos, which turns into more views (and more ad revenue and Patreons). He is (well) over the threshold to monetize his channel, so he is getting paid for most views (save people running ad block and videos with copywrite material), even if it is a very small amount. As you're implying, the real money is in Patreon at this point, but the revenue off views is still there and will not be insignificant. He would be absolutely stupid to actually post anything prior to releasing it in a video that is made public, since doing so would directly cut into his own views. He could post the content when the videos are released to the general populace, but there is little point, as if he posts the pictures the forum dwellers are likely to just look at the pictures and not the videos (I can attest to this based on my own build threads on other sites), and if he just posts the videos then it's pretty much a waste of time anyways since somebody here is going to make a thread/post containing them anyways.
-
Not really. He's not posting on forums at all that I see anymore. If he posts it here he might get a couple hundred views out of it, it's not worth his time. Instead he's releasing stuff at the exact time to play into Youtube's analytics and keep his videos recommended or next up in playlists. He's better of having people share the videos and talk about it on here with him not being involved, as there's no effort on his part, and it avoids the negative backlash of the attitude of "I'm not watching the videos he posts on here because he's just trying to make money off the Youtube ads."

How would you feel about an electric MJ? Would it be a project you would find interesting, or would you feel it is blasphemy of the worst sort? I've had long drunken conversations with an ex-coworker of mine about converting a vehicle, on the basis that the currently offered electric vehicles are either ugly econobox commuter cars, super expensive/not available (Bolinger), or not really practical for living where I do with the lifestyle I have (Tesla). There's a guy on Pirate with an electric Samurai that is able to run the Rubicon, I need to dig into it a little more to see what it's really capable of, but it's set up with three Chevy Volt batteries and an 71HP A/C motor with regeneration.

Doubly worth it if the leafs were still usable.
-
Yeah, it might be warped but there's a good chance it was just installed poorly... If it won't line up, at that point a guy might as well oval the holes so at least you can get a bolt in them, or buy a new manifold. Most of them are cracked anyways...

Painting Fender Flares
DirtyComanche replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There's a paint additive that makes it flexible for doing just that. No personal experience with it though. Like everything else to do with paint I imagine it's 98% about the prep work that determines if it comes out well or not. -
I imagine you can pull the cover. However a needle point grease gun fitting would probably be easier.
-
I think the chances of that going as well as it did were quite looooooow.

That looks like a factory exhaust manifold or one of the O/E style replacements. Likely those holes line up, but there is a broken off stud in them. A large exhaust leak can screw up the O2 sensor readings and cause poor mileage and performance. It also looks like the CPS wiring is burning itself to death right now. Whatever is draped across the exhaust, move it and secure it.

I'm guessing you can get a seal kit for it either way? But if you want power steering, this might be the sign...
-
I just have a big toolbag. It's not a pick and pull here, so half the time he lets me drive in anyways.

Yup. Most didn't.

I meant on an individual level. There is always an economic or political reason to occupy a territory.

Reusing a Comanche "frame"

But such crossbreeding has produced many wondrous things like the zorse, the mule, and the zedonk. Where would we be without them? -
Simple axle swap question
DirtyComanche replied to Minuit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Even with factory new parts I doubt the alignment would be the same. Perhaps still within spec, but not the same. The good news is you can do a hell of an alignment with just a tape measure, some scrap 2x4s, ratchet straps, a sharpie, 2 rubber ducks, a notebook/scrap paper, some masking or duct tape, and an angle finder or plumbob. -
What's wrong with your old box? If it's still decent, sell it to somebody in need. And share whatever you build for a flatbed. I do like flatbeds. Front leaf conversion in progress?

Is an escalated war likely? No, absolutely not. Could it happen? Yes. The reality is the world is an unstable place and all it takes is one errant action or one small maneuver that snowballs into a full scale escalation. However, the US and Russia going fist to cuffs would result in no winners, and I do believe that both sides absolutely know that. They're going to continue to play the proxy war game by lobbing various ordinance at countries nobody really wants to be in anyways, talk tough, beat the drum, call for sanctions, but eventually things will quiet back down.

Reusing a Comanche "frame"

You could do this, although there is some major complications as there is differences between them. I do not think it would be worthwhile though, as fixing a MJ cab would likely be much easier.
