Installed my mesh stoneguards for the headlights. Removed my rear bumper to have the holes drilled all the way through the frame. Went inside and drank whiskey.

Would it be too much trouble for you to grab the comanche badges off the sides and sell them to me?

I'll take one built from a Commander. Even though they suck.

Traded a 1984 Dodge Ram that I paid 600 bucks for to get my MJ. A week later bought 5 31" BFG allterrains with only 100 miles on the and one had never seen pavement for 75 bucks.

2.2 4cyl may be replacing the V8
possum replied to possum's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I decided to hold out for a "iron duke" 4 banger or a hurricane whatever I stumble into first. -
2.2 4cyl may be replacing the V8
possum replied to possum's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I was thinking yank all the wiring and make the computer think it is in a S-10. It came from the factory with a GM motor and I am pretty familiar with those so I would like to stay with the General. The ideal motor would be a hurricane 4cyl. I have never been completely happy with the V-8 and I would like to drive this truck long distances to go wheelin. I know I sound  and I probably am. It would be different though. -
2.2 4cyl may be replacing the V8

Don't really need all the power or weight. I guess the fuel injection would be cool too. I don't have a good reason. -
I have the chance to get a 2002 S-10 for free from my grandfather. It runs beautiful but the slave cylinder went bad and he does not want to replace it. I have been lookin for a 4cyl to swap in but I have questions. This new motor is computer controlled and the current motor is completely primitive. How much work is involved in swapping a computer controlled motor into my truck. 1986 LWB originally had the 2.8v6. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I have reasons for wanting to do this swap.

How about a short video.

Went out to the freezing cold garage and started the truck up and let her run for a few. And then started investigating how to mount the snorkle I an gonna build with minimal cutting and drilling. So far it looks like I am gonna have to cut a 2" hole and drill two 1/4" holes in the fender and that should be it. Gonne run the flex hose like the ARB snorkle but instead of cutting anoyher hole I am just gonna run it in the hole in the header panel where the stock air hose was attached.

Yeah some of the parts I am using are from a wet vac. But I don't think what I have so far will look too corny. I do like any mods to look good as well as work good. I am gonna use one of the straight extentions, a radial diffuser to prefilter the air and help keep rain out and some elbows and a flange that I found. They are all from a wet vac. But wet vac parts are made of ABS so they won't be as brittle in the cold. 8)

I believe they put a hood on cars and truck for a reason - to keep water off the motor. I never power wash a motor unless I am rebuilding it. My 2 cents

I am in the process of putting a homemade snorkel together and was wondering if anybody has any pics of snorkels that they have made. I just like to throw a bunch of ideas together and see what happens.

This is what a 350 looks like in a comanche.
possum replied to possum's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
No real problem with the solid motor mounts. Just a little bit of vibration. -
You are correct. I must be getting old or something. :hmm: Dude... That was Sesame Street...

Kinda reminds me of some of the scenery in the Withlacoochee Reserve. It is in Lecanto Florida. I lived there for a year and the reserve was literally right out my back door.

I do remember Paul Simon being on there but that was just because I had an old eight-track player of my mom's and I pretty much grew up on early eighties hair bands and Paul Simon. So I knew who he was. But man "Sunny day chasing the - clouds away..... Cool Show.

I am actually looking for a Willy's L-head 4-cylinder to replace my V8. I really don't need that much motor.

Front Skid Plate bolts???
possum replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The three along the front are studs. There is one bolt on the driver side and two on the passenger side. If I remember right the bolts I bought were M15 dog point bolts. -
I need somebody with an Ebay account to buy a set of those Rally or Racers Choice stoneguards for the headlights because they blocked Ebay at work and that is the only access I have. They are $3.50 for the buy it now price and whatever for shipping. I just want someone to buy a set so I can buy them from you. I have been wanting these for some time now. So if you are willing to help I would appreciate it.

I had to do a little cutting and some searching for the right motor mounts but that was the hardest part. The oil pan cleared the axle fine at stock height even at full flex. I am not saying it is "easy" but it seemed a heck of alot easier than when we put a 350 in my friend's S-10. Just be prepared to get creative and have a case of beer on hand so when you get frustrated you can grab a cold one and take a moment to think. Also having the complete donor vehicle on hand is a definite plus.

wtf Mesh headlight covers
possum replied to Str8OuttaBallard's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:hijack: O.K. so I hijacked this thread. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to purchase a set of these headlight covers for me and send them to me. I will pay what they cost and shipping and throw in a few extra bucks for your trouble. I am asking because I only have work access and they blocked Ebay. I also have no credit cards. PM me if you are willing to help me out. -
If your truck has the 2.8 piece of crap a chevy v8 will go in fairly easy. I am not sure about making it 4 wheel drive as my rig is only 2wd. I am doing research on making my truck 4wd and I do not think it will be that hard. Just kinda expensive because I am going to have to have the drive shafts made among other things.
