Dad and I have made the decided to dive Red to my little brother for him to fix-up and be his first Truck when he turns sixteen. we are planning to but a 89 Cherokee today and Red will get its engine, as well as some other needed parts. We should be able to get the hole XJ for less than $500.. Dad will be getting the 4x4 parts for his MJ. Steven and I will be doing all the work that we can on the weekends and after I get off work. -
you should be able to keep the shifter no matter what you do, if you choose to swap transmissions you need to make sure you have the proper speed sending unit for your Jeep
-
92 if i am not mistaken will have a electronic speed sending unit and the 89 will have the mechanical speedometer.. as far as the shifter goes you should be able to swap it over

Dad and I are buying a 4x4 Cherokee as a donor for his Comanche. the plan is to swap the front axle, transmission, transfer case, and so on.. are the 2wd Comanche control arms the same length as the 4wd arms? should i move the ones from the Cherokee to the Comanche? and because they are more or less the same in the front it should be bolt on correct? and dad wants to keep the column shift and the bench seat, is there a way we can move the 4wd shifter to somewhere other than on the transmission hump? maybe use a cable to shift sorta like what novac-adaptors sells and move the handle between the door and seat? what are your thoughts? ----- as for my jeep I found a Dana 44 for $100 from a grand Cherokee, can i cut off and re use those perches or do i need to get new ones, where is a good place to get some? is there a disc conversion for the Dana 44, i saw one on here i think but can't remember if it where the D35 or D44.. Thanks

dads mj has "remote manual" there is a stick that goes through the door where the mirror attaches and it can be adjusted inside the cab without leaving the cab. -
will this fit my dads 89 MJ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PAIR-MIR ... 3a69210636 and can a transfer case with the electronic sending unit be converted to cable drive?

Dad got his for $1500.. the seller wanted $2500.. and before they sold it to us they did over $1000 worth of stuff to it (new tires, spark plugs, so on (we have the receipts for warranty) Dad's way of thinking we got the MJ for $500 and $1000 worth of sutff we would have done any way... and this is in Alabama. -

was your mount custom made? -
My Dad's new 89 MJ auto has some vacuum issues, or rather from what i can tell most all the lines are disconnected, but the engine seems to run fine. does anyone have a diagram how the vacuum lines should be ran(run?..) and what "large" hose connects to the back of the airbox beside the 2 vacuum lines? I would post some pictures but i am at work, will post some as soon as i get home thanks
