maverick looks like a good off road GPS program. i downloaded it but have not used it yet.

pretty sure only other way then to squeeze it around the steering column is to undo the bolts that hold up the steering column. it should drop it a few inches and make it easier to pull it off.

I would say to do a H4 conversion and upgrade the wiring to a larger gauge with relays. the 97+ headlights themselves are the same as the 97- here is some quick info on jeepforum http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/need ... e-1050049/ this is the results of searching "headlight upgrade" in the Cherokee forum http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/search.p ... id=8980254 if I remember correctly they have h4 conversions on eBay but they are diamond cut and those throw a crappy light pattern (pretty sure that is how it is)

Anyone from the CT area get in an accident yesterday?
lostissues replied to 88pioneer's topic in The Pub
what, you didn't slip a CC card into the guys hand when he was getting in the amber lamps? :rotf: forgot to add that I was kidding and that I hope all involved were ok. -
I don't have the auto fillers around here and I understand why. even the new JKs have a malfunction that causes the automatic stop to fail. but back to the original topic. I had a friend that had a Cherokee for about 5 years and one day we were standing by his Cherokee and I pushed on the back of the gas lid and flipped it open. he has like "how did you just open that?" and I said "you just press on the back part like this and it opens." and then he explained how every time he filled up he went into his walled and grabbed a credit card and used that to get to the fuel filler.

my brother in law doesn't need his transfer case from his 99 TJ 4 cylinder 5 speed. my 87 4.0 5 speed has a bad transfer case. we are planning on putting his into mine but someone mentioned that the clocking would make it incompatible without a lot of work. is this true?

I will have to check that.

I have a rattle grinding sound coming from what I believe to be the front axle around the yoke area. it occurs with forward and probably backward (but I have not confirmed) movement. does a D30 from an 87 have a crush sleeve for the yoke? because I have replaced the yoke with one form my old donor truck and just removed the old and put on the "new".

best bet is to make them with carriage bolts. that is what I will be doing. I did find a source online but with the ridiculous shipping it came out to about 50 bucks for the 3 bolts. actually with a quick google search they are not that bad http://www.restorationperformance.com/s ... /No/Detail there are a few more on the google search http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q= ... with the front end (header panel, fenders, bumper) it is direct bolt on for 87 and up Comanches you just need to do a little wiring. only problem is if you just swap the header panel and leave the old fenders it will have a little gap where they meet and there is no way to bolt the header panel on the bottom because the new fenders have a stud on them for that. 86 I believe you need to do some modding. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11270 doors will need the striker changed and then I believe they will fit fine.

I was thinking the same thing, its kinda a shame to go another direction when the 97+ upgrade is almost complete.

not sure but I think his key for ign and door are different. I did a similar thing with mine. I grabbed the door locks out of a 97+ and later noticed that they were to big for the old holes. so I grabbed some off a 94ish 2 door (4 door are probably the same) and the lock rods were different sizes so I had to drill out one of the clips. so now I have my original ignition key and the door key for the new locks (including the glove box).

nice, the first one I got was the Kershaw leek with a serrated blade. it was nice, though the tip was a little to pointy (nice at times buy always the potential of breaking off). then I got the Shallot and the Cyclone both with serrated blades, all of them are pretty thin and I like that, just clip it on the inside of my pocket and I can barley tell its there. The Cyclone was a little to hefty so I don't take it out to often, the Shallot is the knife i carry every day and I love it.

the last 3 knives I bought (aside from machetes) were Kershaw. I love them. the first one I bought at a local Walmart and after about 2 years the assisted opening only opened half way making a right angle. I called Kershaw support and they said mail it in for warranty work. paid to ship it out and they sent me a new one (they either repair and I believe sharpen or send a replacement.) I still have that one I just carry around a new one I got. I know you have a gift certificate to bass pro shops but this is where I picked up mine www.Manventureoutpost.com weird name but they have awesome prices and a great selection of other outdoor and camping stuff. if you want something IE. different model knife by a manufacture that they carry, email them. a lot of times they do have it or can get it.

sad to see it go, it was coming along quite nicely.

because JCR had discontinued almost all their MJ stuff I would bet that Brimy will not be stopping by any time soon to check on this thread. your best bet would be to contact him directly through whatever contacts they have on their websites. :typing:

They are Cherokee floor pans, I bought a full length set to repair my floors and had to do a bit of work the get them to fit. My truck is more of a trail righ so the floor pans are in but do not look like a stock floor. pretty sure that all you are going to find is Cherokee floor pans.

is defrost circuit still present in our trucks?
lostissues replied to lostissues's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am not concerned with wiring them in to get them to work. all I would have to do is add a switch, wires and relay. What I'm looking for is if the true defrost circuit is still there, then I could use the factory switch or at least the output of the circuit which should be a timed circuit. most defoggers will turn themselves off after about 10 minutes so not to burn out the heater wires. plus it would mean that I can use or re purpose all of the factory switch openings. until I decide to put in Fog lights, then I have to move some switches around. or finally make the switch panel I have been tinkering with. -

lostissues replied to lostissues's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
are you looking at the 88 FSM? I found the listing for the fuse in the fuse box, I will have to check and see if there is even a connector in that slot. I also saw they listed a connector for a defogger switch and connector for the defogger relay so I will have to check for that. what are all the switches available that fit in the dash? Fog lights, Cargo light, Power/comfort and rear defogger/wiper? was the cargo light switch substituted for anything in the Cherokee? -
I want to wire in my 97+ heated mirror and was wondering if there is a defrost circuit still in our trucks? I know that a lot of stuff is the same between the XJ and MJ but did they remove the defrost from our trucks? or are they still in there laying dormant waiting to be used by some crazy person who wants warm mirrors? 87 4.0 LWB Thanks, Jonathan
