:agree: -
i had a new motor put in the MJ and it cost me 1800 rebuilt and installed...took them way to long and when i got mine back i had to replace oil adapter o-rings, valve cover gasket and then fought the cooling system for a month...i should've done the install myself and saved the money but just didnt have the time to do it then...

He is SOA and he has a pic of them in his projects page....those are Lebarron hood vents...just cut a hole and put them in.. -
i like the full door better than using the rear doors off the 4dr XJ...just looks cleaner in my opinion

Ford 8.8 VS Dana 44?
offroader461 replied to azjeepfreak's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
no i don't think that the izuzu axle can accept shafts w/ a 5x4.5 pattern...never heard of it done b4...the 8.8 is a good swap when having a welder...an MJ 44 is the best BOLT-IN application out there...an XJ 44 would require welding...and izuzu 44 is a tad narrower and also require welding along w/ the wrong bolt pattern and weird gear ratio's -
that would be correct

you need to change the radiator, heater valve and eliminate the pressure bottle...not that hard to do..did both of mine in under an hour total for each
-
i had the same problem...truck was idling in front of my g/f house and "BOOM" it started boiling over real bad...fixed it or so i thought and then again 2months later did it again...turned out to be the pressure bottle and cap were bad...check those i finally got fed up and swapped to an open system and never had a problem since...that was the first upgrade i did when i got the XJ...they both run great
-
Wow...been awhile since i updated...here's the recent scoop: I have been playing around with some other things and the lift is just sitting in the garage waiting for a free weekend to install it...I'm waiting on some funds to buy the cross-over steering kit from "lead-not-follow" and that will be going on too...i plan on using my Adj lower arms and stock uppers with the brackets but got a great deal on some fixed Rubicon Express UCA and fixed Pro-comp LCA (going on the XJ) for $65 shipped, and got my RK trackbar so hopefully i can finally get going on this and get it done! Pics will be up before, during and after install

Ford 8.8 VS Dana 44?
offroader461 replied to azjeepfreak's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i run 32 on 4.10's about 80mph on the freeway...I'm upgrading to 33's so my rpm will be a bit lower at that speed...i knew i was going to 33's thats why i decided on 4.10 -
i have two setups between my XJ and MJ: MJ is 32" with 4.10's (4.0L 5spd) great acceleration but could have a better top end...it will be better when i get my 6" kit and 33's on it XJ is 32" with 3.55 (4.0L Auto) great all around...good acceleration and highway speeds really i don't prefer one over the other but i did notice a HUGE difference in my MJ when i went from 3.07's to 4.10's...totally night and day

XJ dual diapragm booster/MC/prop valve install
offroader461 replied to mjeff87's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
ill take a pic of the wiring tomorrow....MJ is at home awaiting install of the 6" lift...so I'm driving the XJ for now...my pedal position is exactly where it was prior to the swap..just much stiffer and better :D -

offroader461 replied to mjeff87's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
i swapped in the pedal assembly also...wasnt to difficult...4bolts on the firewall and 2 under the dash..that was the easiest way to do it...ill get some pics of it and post them up -
XJ dual diapragm booster/MC/prop valve install
offroader461 replied to mjeff87's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
i did the same thing but instead of using the 87 brake light switch i just put the 95-96 style one in instead...was very simple to do -
all u need is the ZJ tie rod....you can use the XJ/MJ draglink (same as ZJ) and your stabilizer...unless it needs replacing

What rear is this? pics...
offroader461 replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No...most just swap in a XJ proportioning valve and eliminate it totally...i have my "arm" just wired in the up position...i lost my "arm" about 6mnths after i bought mine... The D35 isnt bad while using it carefully in stock form  but anything "hard" and it may be upgrade time :D -

offroader461 replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
D35 sorry and that ball is for an arm that connects to the load sensoning valve....it should be up above that with another ball on a swinging arm -
its actually not that hard...we did it on a couple of my buddies XJ's...we bought the YJ trans b/c they were cheaper than the XJ's and we swapped out the tail section and it reclocked the t-case to the proper position...i planned on doing this but havent been able to locate a tranny for a decent price....oh well my trans is great so eh
