  1. I’ve been trying to figure out the mystery of this mismatched paint since I’ve had the truck. Every single body panel on the inside of the engine bay is painted black, but under that coat of paint is this bright metallic looking blue. This includes but isn’t limited to the hood, fenders, and the core support. Strangely enough it’s only the inside of the engine bay (plus the cowl vents) that have this blue paint. The outside is just bare metal underneath. I know for a fact the hood and these fenders aren’t from this truck because the black paint doesn’t match and is the only place where there’s clearcoat fading, meaning they got painted (badly at that, considering there’s no clearcoat fading on the rest of my 38-year-old paint). Do you guys recognize this as an OEM color? Or is this from some hot shot Cherokee with a painted engine bay? The fact the whole front end has been replaced makes me wonder if it’s been in a wreck that toasted the original panels and it just got pulled from a junkyard. That would surely explain the upper grill lip (with the jeep logo) that’s just forest green lol. also if the front end got messed up, who’s to say that this is even the original engine? The body might have 180,000 miles but now I don’t know if the engine reflects that. I probably won’t ever know because 4.0s seem to run just as good whether they had 100,000 or 200,000 miles anyways. It just makes me wish even more I knew the story about this truck
  2. Bosch makes a fantastic upgraded pump. That pump plus the MTS SU is what's considered to be most reliable/highest quality among stock applications. It's discontinued, so you'd have to grab it off ebay. Just a thought if (God forbid) your pump goes out soon. I have heard mixed things from the MTS house brand fuel pump
  3. When I was doing my fuel pump and reinstalling the lock ring, it happened twice where the ground wire from the pump to the sending unit came loose. If not anything else, I’d pull it back out and make sure you still have good power and ground connections.
  4. Also, have you happened to fix the issue with crankcase oil getting pulled into the air box through the CCV vent hose? I know that caused quite a lot of issues by ruining my throttle body gasket and fouling up my IACV over time.
  5. I’m not sure what you’ve tried or tested other than what you’ve explained in this post, so I’ll go into detail just in case there’s something you haven’t checked. Apologies if this entire thing is redundant for you. I see you have an 87 in your signature, I’m assuming other than the throttlebody everything else is still renix. Have you been having issues since you installed your new throttlebody or even before? I know that the OEM TBs are non-adjustable so I don’t know if that would necessarily cause issues working in conjunction with an OEM throttle position sensor and IACV if it were to be adjusted, especially on an aftermarket unit. Do you still run the same throttle position sensor as stock? If so it’s very important that you set it to the correct position. If you’re unable to get the correct voltage then it will need replacing. Other than that I would check common vacuum leak points or even a smoke test if you have a machine by chance. The biggest ones are definitely the map sensor to the throttlebody, EGR (vac lines and EGR gasket itself), and a bad manifold gasket. Other than that, it should just be the fuel pressure regulator vacuum and the PCV vacuum. it would be good to check them all anyways. I know I had a minor vacuum leak when chasing down my weird idle at the throttlebody gasket as well Speaking of your MAP sensor, have you tested that? Correct vacuum is very important for its function but it could also be faulty on top of that. does it drive fine or will the bad idle go away? Is it consistent or intermittent? My erratic idle was usually only in park, and shifting out of it fixed it (if you have an auto ofc). This is most likely not part of the issue, but does your fuel pressure look OK? It should be about 31 at idle and 38 to 39 without vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator. My truck was running super weird when my fuel pump was in the process of going out so I thought I’d mention it. Also, most importantly. Have you checked all of your grounds? Cruiser has a great writeup on testing and upgrading all your grounds. It’s especially problematic at the C101 connector and at the harness parallel to the valve cover. It certainly wouldn’t hurt to check and upgrade the crappy fuel pump ground. I’m very well-versed with your issue, mine seems to be in remission so far. If I could be of any more help or if you need pics let me know.
  6. Register those other jeeps too!
  7. Do you happen to have any of those A pillar trim 'buttons'? Those little circular things that cover up the screws holding the A pillar in. I'm missing about 3.
  8. Wow, this is a lot of British cars. Were they popular back when they were being sold new into the 70s or do they just have a cult following with enthusiasts? They look like a blast to drive but something tells me the reputation about British automobiles had to have started somewhere...
  9. A lesser known tune I had the pleasure of finding on a random country station driving through La Grange
  10. Interesting about them being LWB only. Whoever put the mat in my truck did a pretty slick job cutting it, I never would’ve thought.
  11. I feel like I probably know the answer but how rare/expensive are these in decent condition? it would be nice to have a spare mat in good condition (without all the wire showing) to switch out when I eventually start taking it to car/jeep shows.
  12. Wow! Great find
  13. Another goodie for our resident swing lovers
  14. Agree. The biggest things for me are 1. like you said, i have many albums/singles that are not on streaming or even on youtube (especially for not on label pressings) and 2. not only do you not own anything on streaming, but the second that any of these services shuts down, everyone's extensive library is gone. It's the same thing for video games. Developers/publishers can't do anything about owning a physical game disc, but it is known that buying games virtually isn't ownership, but a license to have/play it, which can be revoked at any time. Many games have been abandoned or shut down and the license revoked from people that paid full price for it. My nightmare is that my thousands of songs on spotify would suddenly disappear with no way for me to remember everything that I lost.
  15. Also I tend to sweat when I wear gloves so I'd rather keep my moist fingers off of my vinyl anyways
  16. I don't like to wear gloves when I work unless I'm spreading RTV or grease or something
  17. Lmao same here. I'm thinking about getting a special pair of gloves just so i can flip records with dirty hands and have a beater record player outside under the carport.
  18. Looks great! I'd love to make a full marantz stack one day
  19. Maybe I'll catch y'all at next year's event post-grad and when I'm all settled in at the house. It's like a 14 hour drive, just under 1000 miles, but I think my ol' jeep could make that (with plenty of spare parts and ALL of my tools just in case :p)
  20. That's a beautiful technics TT. Before I was born, my dad DJ'ed for a living, and had a pair of SL-1200s but regrettably he sold them. Those large plinth style technics are such ridiculously priced nowadays.
  21. That pioneer is sweet!
  22. Some of the most attractive pieces of audio equipment IMO are tube units. I’ve heard that even when unpowered, they can give a fatal shock, so that really turns me off from them lol
  23. This is a great idea. I think it’ll passively get more donations just giving people an easier avenue of donation rather than having to message Pete for his PayPal
