No, I'm using the M1-207. I'm also interested in more information on the by-pass.

’88, 4.0, 5 speed, 4x4 I was changing the oil and when I pulled the filter it was dry! It looked as though no oil had ever reached inside the filter. I’m assuming it’s the oil pump; it can’t be a bad filter can it? It’s a Mobil-1 filter running Mobil-1 10w30 oil. The factory oil pressure gauge has been reading 20-30 psi, I know this is lower than my other two MJs which run 40-60 psi but I just thought the gauge or sensor was inaccurate. The engine hasn’t been running hot (unless that gauge is also off) so what other symptoms should there be? What’s the manufacturer and part number for the one piece oil pan gasket? And are you positive it will fit? Has anyone had problems with any after-market oil pumps? I don’t want to replace it again. Is the most difficult part removal and installation of the oil pan? Any and all input is greatly appreciated.

bit fuzzy on the whole gauge cluster upgrade.

They're the same gauge so it should work. I replaced the clusters in two of my MJs from what I assume were XJ clusters (what's the chance they both came from MJs? very low) and they both work fine, light comes on when ~2 to 2.5 gallons are left. -

I think you'll need one out of an '87-90. The speedometer turned electronic in '91, and I think the speedometer cable connection is different for the '86. Eagle explained all this in an earlier post, try searching by author. -
You must be a true old-time MOPAR enthusiast.

How about covering the bumpers with Herculiner? Will it stand up to abuse? I saw someone's MJ on this board with custom bumpers that were bed-liner coated.
-
I also think there's just one , that's all I found in my '90.

I sent my request through that same site about three weeks ago for my '88 and was told they didn't have records for vehicles that old. Is '89 the cut-off point?
-
I have an '89 Pioneer with the tach and an '88 Pioneer with no tach but the rest of the gauges. There were three gauge packages, all dummy lights, with gauges, and with gauges and tach. For what that’s worth.

Gas Mileage Issues - Now AW4 Issues

Also check for vacuum leaks, especially aroung the intake manifold. -
That's funny, I ordered one and after ~28 days they told me FedEx sent it to West Valley, New York (I'm in California) and it was lost. I thought they were just covering their a$$e$ so I cancelled the order. Glad to see someone on here may have gotten it!!!

Ummm ... the guy explaining why he's wrong is also from Ontario, Canada. Last time I looked at a map of Canada, it was all one province. Boy you're a grumpy,, old fart. And by the way, there are differences even within California, some zip codes/counties require testing for new vehicles after 4 years, some after six. And up to a couple years ago there was more stringent (on a dyno) testing in some areas. So, what I was trying to say is that MJColton should do his own research for his particular area.
-
Exemption regulations are state specific, here in California a vehicle must be 30 years old to receive the exemption. http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vehindustry/vin_memos/vin2003/03vin21.pdf MJColton is in Canada what he says might be correct for his province.

Vacuum leaks will cause problems with idling. Start the engine and spray TB cleaner (some people use water) around the intake manifold and any other gasket (e.g. TB) or vacuum line connection. If the idle drops you’ve found yourself a leak. On one of mine the intake manifold was the problem around the #5 & #6 cylinders. I just re-torqued the nuts and it’s been fine ever since.
-
You should start by doing this, it's the best way to determine where the leak(s) is coming from. Then you can also add some fluorescent dye to the oil and trace the leak source with a UV light.

btt Anyone out there with an '87 4.0L that can help? The above was from the '89 FSM (correction to original post). I know '88, '89, and '90s had a transducer on the EGR and all vacuum lines are as shown in the diagrams, only two lines to the solenoid. Is the rest of the vacuum harness as above or did a previous owner modify it?
-
The thing on the fender is the EGR solenoid the transducer attaches to the EGR with a vacuum hose. Here's how to check operation of the EGR. It's from the '88 FSM.
-
Check the EGR valve and transducer operation.

Really? what's it called? I was having problems with the add on so a work-around is to find the file in your Firefox Cache and change the extention to .flv then play it with FLVPlayer that you can download.

Tickets are 125 pounds, thats ~250 US dollars, plus ticketing fees, plus flight to England. Ouch!!! The price gouging will start once the selected people scalp their tickets.

I was driving my MJ to the airport for a business trip from Oakland CA to San Diego CA. At first I too thought it was a DJ gag. When I got to the airport I was told the airport was closed and was waived on through. That was just after the second tower was hit.
-
Why is it that the TPS for a manual transmission is so much more expensive?? :headpop:
-
Yup, that's just the way it is. My '90 has done it for the last 17 years from day 1 when I got it on 7/7/90.
-
I know what you mean, but I've had my first MJ for 17 years and my wife for 15 so there's hope for you.
