    new MJ

aemsee - looks like a nice find, I think I seen that on e-bay, but then my puter went blank, and shut down, and I couldn't bring it back up??? Oh, thats right, that was the one you wanted ;) It looks nice and clean, both in and out. aah, PA truck, should be totaly rust free, not what were use to seeing :teehee: It sounds like your starting a new trend here = His and Hers MJ's
  2. Advance Auto Parts, 3/16" X 25 feet, like $26, fitting, shorts 10 in a bag for like $5, Its behine the counter and you need to ask for it, at least the 3-4 time I have bought it. Also they carry 1/4" if you want to go over kill, and yes its alot less making your own lines over buying short lenghts. Napa, also has the line, what evers closest to you ;)

Pete - Very Interesting :hmm: So with the geeks stats, the past 2 months he's been busy, and it was just a freek thing that he landed here on your site. If the geek got a new hobby, like a MJ, he wouldn't have time to play around with his key board, he would be :wrench: the The good news is that you got things recovered quickly  Hopfully you can come up with a program that will prevent this in the futrue. And as Eagle said, get some thing for a guard. I know alot of us would help you out $$ wise if you need to purchase some type of program, let us know. I know your plate is full with other things, But keep up the good work
  4. KYMJ - I don't think it sounds stupid, seam like I read / heard about that before, that's how the pro's take paint runs off, with the razor blade. If you haven't check out this site yet, great tips and info from the pro's http://www.autobodystore.com You can get lost for hours in the forum........aah, I know I can :D I bought his Spray Painting 101 DVD, it's a little slow, But great tips from some one whos been painting for 30 years. But the forum has alot of pro's answering all types of questions, and for me, this just fills in blanks on what other info I know. I can see where it taking alot of time, but then again, your not having to do a complete re-paint, and that's time saved. Will be wating for the updates :waving: And great deal on the rear bumper, with the hitch, Yea, don't question the man with the parts. :brows:
  5. It's coming along KYMJ Your wife has no Vision? you poor, poor man :shake: People look at my rotted out boxes, and I tell them the same thing, No coupon (Payment) book with this one ;) Are you going to sand down the whole truck and repaint, or just do spots?? My body repairs, painting are a few weeks away, got to get the '88 plow ready frist, then one or the other body shop time. I would like the find a rear bumper for $35, best I can find are the after market steps for $129  Your MJ sure looks rust free, still a good find and deal
  6. I could be that the PO just installed the sending unit incorrectly, bent the wire, tangled up on the elect wires??? :dunno: I just checked my Jeep parts manual and is shows- Sending unit (and Tanks) - EFI Eng. w/16 Gal Tank w/2.5L - 7Ft Box w/16 Gal Tank w/4.0L - 7ft Box w/18 and 23.5 Gal Tank w/2.5L - 6 and 7 Ft box w/18 and 23.5 Gal Tank w/4.0L - 6 and 7 Ft box The 16 Gal tank was used 1988 - 7ft box The 23.5 was an option for 7 Ft box, and the ones I seen have 3 straps on them. I know, it's confusing, But it's a Jeep :D Also there is 2 fuel pumps, one for the 2.5 and one for the 4.0, and no we won't even get to the '86.
  7. PlumCrazy- First, welcome to the form :D the simple repair to vac lines cut/broke are using Heat Strink tube, sliped over the cut lines and well, heat fitted. I can't help you on the wiring, I don't have the shop manuals for this, others do and might chim in on that. If you don't have a Chilton's or Hayes book, pick one up, and alot of info will get you started in the right direction. I like Hayes over the other.
  8. feerocknok - Nice Photo story   Will be wating for the next installment Man....got to hand it to you, that is one major re-build job on the MJ :clapping:
  9. :agree: The whole vehicle could really pay off for only one part you need, axle, plus other parts that could be used with the axle, cables, lines ?? beaterjeep is right, you could also e-bay some parts you don't need, if you want to go that route, and in the end, you'll get what 90-150 dolllars back just for the scrap at a yard. :brows:

    Shaky Trip

probably some xanax and a pair of depens for the ride home :rotfl2: :driving: hahaha just kiddin man, i do know however that this problem is just gonna get worse whatever it is, unless yuo do somethin about it. and be careful cause even though itll run 70mph with no shaking... if you hit a bad spot in the road you will get DW and it will suck even worse. so be careful around bad spots in the HWY. i can usually make it with no DW if i drive careful but some days its inavoidable. No, I'm not going to let this go, I will do some work on it to TRY to solve the DW. Just another project on the board And if you have ever been to NY and driven the roads, there are nothing but "bad spots" in the roads. I think we invented the "wash board" "pot Holes" and "black Ice", Oh yea, and the steel rotting "Road salt" I'm not that old to start with the Depends Or also called "Big Boy Paints" of course, that could be just around the corner for me  I'll just say, This trip, the back of the MJ had a load of parts in it and the next two trips, I need to take the 16 foot trailer along. :brows:

    Shaky Trip

I learn first hand today what Death Wobble is  Went to visit a fellow club menber and on the way there had my first experance at the dredded DW, I fact 5 times, the third was the worst, I lost two filling over that one :D I know this was discussed a short time ago, so I searched and on 8-27 re-read what CWLongshot and Eagle had wrote on the subject, that's why I posted in The Pub I have to totaly agree with what both of you posted, and what other's have written on the DW, Eagle I think you hit it with the tires making a major play in the "Harmonie Imbalance" because everytime I hit 55-57 mph, the front started shaking, once over that, no problem, in fact I took the super highway back and was doing 70 with no shaking. So, now on to solve my problem, besides driving at 54, and change out the two mismatch tires I have on the front, checking out any loose steering parts, get the Camber checked out and see what happens. Again, Thanks for the heads up on this subject  Oh, and no I didn't come back empty handed :brows:

    Hacked huh

:rotf: :laughin: :jump: Good one Oizarod I was on this AM about 7:30 when things went blank, and had to reload, then see the croconile on the bottom :hmm: I agree, A-holes have nothing better to do, Oh yea, big score, hack a 50 cent web board. May Lighting Stike his Modum, and some other part too :typing:
  14. Momule - no question that the past owner took some parts out of that area, but if you look at Pete's picture, you should look for 2 red wires tied together some were in that area. The part you want, from Advance Auto is - Ignition reststor GCR7, Part #9180002, $3.97 mum.....ere, how I know?, one of mine fell apart, and no start, so...... Eagle is right, that could be alot of the problems with the pumps frying up. There were other good suggestions posted here for you too. ;) Good luck.

    nice person

:agree: That's the "Old School" way of doing business Couldn't tell you how many people broke there word to me over the years, and I write them off, and the next time they call, Well, I'm just to busy to deal with them. :headpop: The person your talking about could feel the same way.
  16. Derek - Kool Video  I'm not a wheeler, but I did notice that the CJ's had a hard time keeping up with your MJ  Just been sitting back watching your progress
  17. Eagle wrote-     Sorry to hear that your down to only 5 MJ, But I'm sure your looking for some new stock, I hope.:clapping:
  18. I know Hats, and even coffe mugs were not discussed yet, I just mentioned it in my post this morning. I wear a hat all of the time, "baseball" style, I even wear one under my hard hat, when I have to wear that. :wall: I just though of the Hat idea when I posted this morning. Years ago, 10-12, I ordered custom made hats for my company, I think the min order was 36, and I remenber that the price was around $7.35 each. I still have a few of them, and am still trying to wear them out, even with a company name change, I still wear the old ones, they were "one size fits all" and USA made hats. And they don't fall apart after many washings. So, seeing how I brought this up, and seeing that New Era is here in town, I'll get some info on that Idea, if that's OK with the majority here?? I don't mean to jack this thread on the t-shirts, and wondering if a "Wear-Gear" thread shoud be started?? :dunno:
  19. JohnQ  :jump:
  20. I like the T shirt Idea - What hemi_comanche posted looks the best and what feerocknok edited is really good, fits the site the best. The image displays original AMC advertising, true heritage of the comanche, and highlighting the ComancheClub, if a poll was posted, this would be my choice  I think the mag cards that Pete made up could be used on the hats, or the coffee mugs when that comes up, and I'm thinking Hats should be next  The line "The Legend lives on" saids it best for a 16-20 year old vehicle ;) Question? - could this image be done as an "Iron-on" type or is that not a good idea, don't hold up, fall apart, I don't know about iron-ons.
  21. aemsee- Not a bad idea, I'm thinking "wood grain" contact paper - could be the only Woodie Comanche around?? I wonder how much metal would need to be intack for the paper to stick to?
  22. KYMJ - Nice find  But We need more Pictures :papers: Really not to bad in shape, from this angle, 2wd should be good for a DD. The clear coat pealing is just a typical Jeep thing.
  23. This is something that I have though about too, seen this- Northen Tools Item #145883 $29.99 Can't get a picture of it up, but it's a wide extention for a floor jack, like the old bumper jacks, but thinking that it might get in the way of placing jack stands, O'well, just another tool :brows: I do the same as 87manche, jack on the right side of the punkin.
  24. Wanderin - Nice Write Up, Great Info  Great looking stock '90 MJ you got there too
  25. LOL -good one Pete :rotf: I seen your other post about the problem, :hateputers: Just the one about online poker got to me, if I started that then the MJ projects would never get done, plus I heard all about the scam on the poker deal. :brows: Thanks Pete
