  1. Rivit-nuts, Poly-nuts and Thread-sert, are all the same basic items. They all work great in sheet metal when you need a fastener to hold. Also work great in thicker steel, where the thread has blown out, and the choice of a larger fastener is not practical. I've used plenty of them in hollow metal doors, when the door closer foot bracket pulled out from the frame header. Also great for mounting rear view mirrors on a truck :brows: ( Well, on the door) This is the set I bought years ago......http://www.fastenal.com/web/products/de ... 105&ucst=t And a good thing too, I paid about $50 less than what there selling for now  The inserts you can get in steel, aluminum, and poly/steel, smooth shank and ribbed (which are better for sheet metal applications), and different material thickness's. here's the list from Fastenal - http://www.fastenal.com/web/products.ex ... m_search=1 I can't say if the HF set is any good, never tried it, but for the cost, and only a few thread-serts, it's worth a try :dunno: (I can buy the more expensive kit, and charge it off on the jobs  )
  2. Well.......the good news is........Morrisville is closer for you than me  The bad news.........Now you can't stop by the shop for parts on you way home from ECC :( But......At least they found a slot for you  Good luck with you next new venture :D Oh......and you still stopping by on Monday???? Call me.
  3. Do you mean just the cable??? It just has an S shape on the end of the cable that "hooks" into the lever. You shouldn't need to remove the rivet to get the cable off.
  4. Just a good memory :D :teehee: :teehee: No, we just had this topic couple weeks ago, and the "right" words in the search popped it up :brows: Although..........I have nearly a hundred bookmarks with Jeep info too
  5. Did you check the flasher units on the fuse box??? That would be the first thing to check, just switch the 4 way flasher with the turn signal, and if that's the problem, replace the flasher unit with a metal HD unit. If not, then more than likely, you have a bad socket, check the front sockets first. Also, if you buy flasher fluid in the gallon can, you can save quite a bit of $$$ over buying it in little pint cans.
  6. Like I said, there were more than one pump used in the MJ. The Carter and Bosch look like this *note the sock filter* http://info.rockauto.com/Carter/Detail. ... 55_ANG.jpg The Walbro pump looks like this = http://info.rockauto.com/Carter/Detail. ... 57_ANG.jpg And the ACDelco Walbro pump- http://198.208.187.182/internet/PartIma ... tnbr=EP373 I have never seen one, and you could have that Walbro pump from OEM :dunno: Also note, the above pumps are in the $100 range, not the "Dealers list price" Or......someone replaced it over the years :hmm:
  7. The Bosch pump was OEM, although there was also a Walbro pump used (that I've never seen yet) you can tell the difference from the sock filter. The Bosch #69302 is the pump your looking for, it was used '87-'92 for the 4.0 engine. The Carter #P74155 is also a direct replacement for the Bosch - http://info.rockauto.com/Carter/Detail. ... 55_ANG.jpg Its possible that you received the wrong Bosch pump over the counter, check the model numbers and see what you have.
  8. Yea, a master cyl can blow out internally. But its more likely for the soft line to swell up and become obstructed. Hopefully you spent the $18 for a new fluid line and changed it out with your new slave cyl
  9. Here, Check this out - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15627&p=157554&hilit=Jack+storage#p157554 And that reminds me.........I got to ship some parts this week for someone
  10. Is it my screen........Or does that "Military Green" look kind of like Dark Brown :hmm: Bret.......are you saying that your going to order shirts in the above 6 color choices, OR.....your going to narrow it down to one or two colors and place the order that way??
  11. OK........... Is there a story about this............ Like.......I fell asleep on the floor.............and a Bic razor laying next to me.......kind of story????? :teehee:
  12. The easiest way to repair - replace the fuse box is to replace the dash harness, including the fuse box. I know this sounds overwhelming, but once you remove the dash, all of the interior harness is mounted/clipped to the back side of the dash. Theres been numerous topics on removing the dash, step by step. Your donor could be from a '87 - '90 MJ or XJ. The XJ will give you a slight problem with the rear harness (tail lights - fuel pump harness) which will need to be spliced in. Other wise, every thing else is plug and play. The best donor would be from an automatic, less of a chance that the fuse box suffered damage like your did. Unless you really want a challenge, you could just replace the plastic fuse box itself, by removing each wire clip and inserting it into a newer fuse box, providing that the wire clips are not corroded.
  13. On the engine bay side of the fuse box, there is a bolt that connects both haves. It's right in the center and takes a 1/4" socket to remove the bolt. Once this bolt is removed, the interior should drop right off. By chance, do you have an manual transmission??? If you do........the clutch master leaks from the back side, and drips down onto the fuse box and eat the plastic away causing all kinds of shorts and bad connections.
  14. Man.......I've never seen a dealer ship like that  They have here own parking ramp  Congrats Taz, I think you'll do better with the Chrysler/Jeep dealer that with the "other" guys. Good luck...........Oh......and hope you don't get lost in that parking ramp :teehee:
  15. Good question......... :dunno: The only tanks I have are the 23.5 and the 18's.......I have sending units for both, but they were on the shelf, and not directly out of the tank. Next tank I pull, I'm going to double check. skimore told me he had the 18 gallon tank, and I "assumed" that the short arm went with the smaller tank, and the long arm float went with the lwb tank :hmm: Thinking, longer arm, more radius = larger capacity tank. then I got the call, and was told he had the long arm in the swb tank, I never win :(
  16. No, the wiper is a 4.8 amp circuit breaker. (And Yes Eagle, I checked the FSM) PM JTDesign, he just had to chase one down, and maybe can put you in the direction for it.
  17. Now all that puts me back in the Twilight Zone  Howard Cosell and the Wide World of Sports. Didn't Jim McKay pass away a few months ago :hmm: So......My question is.........Did Howard Cosell make Cassius Clay the showman or the other way around :dunno: I think the last fight I watched, after 20 minutes of "Rope-a-dope" did me in  And like you said doggy........Pay for view really killed the boxing industry in a whole, even in the '70's not every body had cable in there house, or even in there town
  18. Yes, the tubes are solder at the mounting disk, BUT......most of the sending units I've found the tubes are rotted or near rotted on the exterior side of the disk, that's why I replace the tubes and weld them to the disk. The tubes can be re-solder with 50/50, but brazing would be a better choice :D Yes, the electrical connector has a 3/8 x 1/8 O-ring under it, and is held on to the disk with a 3/8" spring nut. As we both found out, the swb, 18 gallon tank has the long arm float for the sender unit, and the lwb 23.5 gallon tank has the short arm float for the sender unit. Send the unit back and I'll refund your $$$ when I receive it :D
  19. Yea, the OEM unmolested, never mounted tail lights pop up every.........2 or 3 years :D Took me 2 years to find one, and that was over 2-1/2 years ago........just never knew what to do with it..........until..........some one sent me a PM....... I like the mock up rear end idea :rotfl2:
  20. Actually........dual wheel conversions have been around a long time...... Here's a link - http://www.arrowcraft.com/ Even JCW use to sell sets.......might still do :dunno: Yea, we beat that white CA dually to death couple years ago, I don't think it was factory, just an after market item, kind of like the Quigley 4x4 van conversions.
  21. I believe, its pull the Positive (+) cable off to check the alternator. Also, check your serpentine belt for looseness/slipping.
  22. Man.......all the negatively in this topic  :shake: For those of us that watched Charley's Angels when first broad casted (and not on re-runs  ) we all have a different "view" of Farrah Fawcett, along with the original poster :brows: , plus the other ground braking films, like The Burning Bed, and all her Golden Globe and Emmy nomination's. Of course, most of her "spot light" was thru out the mid 70's and 80's. One whom grew up with the Jackson 5, Yes, I watched them live on the Ed Sullivan Show, and the cartoon show they had, Plus their variety show in the mid/late 70's. MJ was an icon in the music industry, in his solo career, don't need to mention all the hits and the change to the music world he created. In his person life........ Wahoo........I'm thinking it was around '93-'94 when MJ went off the deep end, at what age 35-36, That's when things really started to change for his career, and the "allegation" were rolling. That's also about the time he started all the plastic surgery, and the "look" he has today  Just after the '93 super bowl half time show (most watched half time ever) in which the Bill's lost again  As most child stars, all comes to a crashing halt at one time, in MJ's case, he continued on and became a world wide performer, a humanitarian, and a sharp businessman, who else would ever think of buying the Beatles catalog. Sadly, most remember him for the "allegations". But..........from the replies in this post, I acknowledge that most of the negative responses were from the <30 crowd.
  23. I wake you up????? See......not you don't need to PM Cherokee :D
  24. Maaco is guaranteed to charge you way more than you are expecting to pay, and will still do a crappy job that won't last but a few years. You may do a poo job that won't last, but you will learn, and save money at the same time! X 2 Better doing it yourself, and learning, and if it really a problem, you can do it over, and still come out ahead of what Maaco will nail you for a "paint" job
  25. :agree: I've done this several time, there is really no ill effects to run with a hollowed out cat. Been running my cuber for the past 3 years with a hollowed out cat, I don't feel like spending over $300 for a replacement. But........We don't have sniffer test up here on anything older that '96 :D What every you punch out, save it, it's sill worth $$$. Unless platinum has fallen in the market :hmm:
